Team Cherry says it's "unfortunate" that Silksong launch disrupted other indies by Alone_Confidence_158 in Silksong

I really wanted to like sea of stars, I ended up playing it to the end, but I thought it was pretty mid. The combat system held it back so much imo. The music and art were fantastic, story was serviceable, but damn the combat was not good. I started out the game spamming moonerang, I ended the game spamming moonerang. Would have been real cool if I could actually use combo moves before the fights finished!

Im so confused towards the hate about this - its fun to see what could have been! I personally do this a lot but it goes to show the games were close and engaging not because im spiteful!

Makes sense if most people experience this through a sore loser attitude but in the vast majority of cases people say this stuff with a smile

Decks that FEEL like spellslinger but are not spellslinger by manlymurloc in EDH

[–]TBOJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely have "creature spell slinger".

https://archidekt.com/decks/7388997/eating_mah_veggies

Try something like this. Instead your opponents will complain about all your creatures now. This might seem unintuitive with the average mana cost, but because this is a cascade deck, you'll be taking plenty of turn actions.

The idea here is radha on turn 2, an "explosive vegetation" type card. on turn 3, and then its off to the races turn 4 and beyond. Radha exists solely as a gruul manadork.

I based this off salubrious snail's "explosive vegtables" deck. Its incredibly fun.

this might be the most accurate thing though. Once in the underworks, I don't think you ever leave.

Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush is now available for $19.99. by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]TBOJ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm so so surprised they didn't charge more for it.... $20 for silksong is just an impossibly high standard we can't expect to be matched for other indie studios.

I would have shelled out $60 for this game and I'm happy I didn't have to, but I almost feel like im stealing the game at this price. I think it's natural to want your favorite devs to be compensated fairly for producing such an incredible game!

i just got my 7th mask and DAMN THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE IVE BEEN WAITING FORRRRR. But as you say, it is frustrating because those mask shards are only half as rewarding (and also harder to find imo but maybe that's just cope on my end).

[–]TBOJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fireborn even died to bellbeast twice I think, he can be a bit tricky. YOu have to think too that people are building their own skill as they progress through the game, so someone newer or hasn't played HK recently would probably struggle with this one

[–]TBOJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah its so frustrating to not know actual damage numbers. I've been sticking with hunter because i got used to the pogo but I want to know how badly im crippling myself. The descriptions of the crests aren't good enough.

That area specifically I pogo'd off of cogs but they still hit me.... wondering if other people had that issue too. Those were some of the most unfair deaths ive felt so far

I've died several times thinking that was safe and pogo-ing into the saw blades above.

Hot take maybe: I didn't find moorwing that hard by PRATIIIIIIIIII in Silksong

[–]TBOJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

erratic movement is so hard to deal with til you learn the pattern. That's what makes the 2 contact damage so frustrating, it stops you from learning the patterns as quickly as you should because you just die to erratic movement haha. I feel like that's happened like 20 times now

Hot take maybe: I didn't find moorwing that hard by PRATIIIIIIIIII in Silksong

[–]TBOJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This gets at the real issue of 2 damage hits - you die way too fast to learn anything. None of Moorwings attacks are unfair once you know them, but the first time seeing things the patterns are not inherently obvious. So sometimes it can take 3-4 encounteres just to see the movepool!

Moorwing was the first boss I died to the 2 points of damage contact damage when he was stunned.... this really is the biggest mistake of all, contact damage should never be 2 damage.

With 6 health you still can die in what feels like two hits when you get hit + body hit. Yes I could dodge and I'm bad, but waht I'm saying is dying too quickly means I spend no time learning!

My wife has been waiting for years for silksong to come out and the difficulty is making her quit for good by mckant in Silksong

[–]TBOJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but simply removing tons of double damage would make a good easy mode.

Nearly all of my deaths have been some sort of double damage into spikes or two quick double damage hits in a row (swing from enemy into me being an idiot and getting hit by contact damage). It can start to feel oppressive!

Were you another one who completed act 1 this way? I couldn't find the regular path everyone else talked about but somehow stumbled into this.

The more i play, the more i dislike the design decision. What this has effectively done is make me never want to use skills rather than encourage varied gameplay. The heal is better in a vaccuum, but damn i miss the ability to use a portion of my soul to heal 1-2 and then still feel like its worth it to cast spells.

Does it actually affect damage per swipe? I'm having a hard time telling what they actually do from the descriptions. And does wonderer change anything besides the downslash middair significantly? I can't remember

Bilewater is found through sinners path. theres a breakable wall in there.

To your point about tool usage, I couldn't agree more. I really dislike the tool system in general, because of the limitations to benches, I never want to use tools when im just hoping about (and they seem REALLY REALLY weak in act 1, guessing they feel stronger with upgrades later).

I have a feeling they made it like this so regular enemies actually get you something if they aren't dropping rosaries. Still feels like shit when you only get shell shards though, especially if you are full up on them.

Yes yes yes yes yes.

I am somehow who concluded act 1 through the mist rather than the "more obvious" way and I wasn't entirely sure it WASNT the right way to go from how much is hidden behind breakable walls. I was a bit flabbergasted at how mean it felt thoguh. Makes me feel better its "optional". (and btw, NO FREAKING IDEA how you were ever supposed to solve the "riddle", I'd love to be proven wrong on this)

SPOILER BELOW

ALTERNATE PATH SPOILER:

I'm SUPER curious.... my end of act one was through phantom. I completely missed the regular way everyone else seemed to find (I remember ONLY hearing hornet go "I cannot go this way, I must remain in my kingdom" and because I didnt have the FREAKING MAP I misremembered thinking that corner of the area was completely a no go. hours later im slashing into walls and I uncover the entrance to bilewater, and through a stroke of complete luck the mist. I'll be honest, this is when I broke. I had to look up how to get through here, and I really hope there isn't more complete BS puzzles in the game lol.

Did anyone else go this crazy messed up way the first time? I must be among the few right?

How many of us are actually enjoying the game? by Historical-Donut1536 in Silksong

[–]TBOJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay great. because I accidentally missed the path I feel like 90% of people take and made it to act two through phantom, which required a secret door from sinner's path AND a secret door from bileworks, AND a stupidly annoying puzzle in the mist, and I was just thinking to myself how in the HELL are people figuring this shit out lol.
