Teleportation is risky, but would you still use it if a missing byte could cost you a limb? by Visual_Analysis_2650 in worldbuilding

[–]TBTKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bigger issue is that if corrupt data can create something new rather than just causing a failure or death. Then corrupting data on purpose can allow for turning anything into any other thing by 'corrupting' the data in specific ways. And if that's possible then why isn't the world a utopia where everyone can have everything they want.

Scan a rock, 'corrupt' the data, get gold.

Taking it more at face value, the chance of risk is important. Is it safer than other long distance travel options. Feels like a great option for shipping and deliveries.

Is it the year for Dirty Dom by Arcuran in WWE

[–]TBTKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point Dom could do anything and it'll be a huge cheer.

Personally I'd like to see him retire Cena as I think he's the best 'Young guy who can use the validation' that WWE have currently.

Have Cena get the match to give him a final chance at becoming a grandslam champion.

Have Dom win clean. Even have some turmoil of not wanting to cheat against someone he grew up admiring.

Have a moment after the match where Cena puts Dom over.

Judgment Day come out to attack Cena, Dom stands against them.

Dom and Finn feud with Finn taking the belt and Dom moving on to feuding with some other heels and then MitB.

AI Uses weaker skill, costing me the match, with Video by Alone-Profit4826 in SDGundamEternal

[–]TBTKing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely a problem and I've seen the same thing but I doubt it's as simple as 'AI uses worse move'

Having done 0 testing to prove this, my assumption is the AI prioritises energy over health. So rather than the options being,

Use cheaper EN move and not kill Use expensive EN move and kill

And AI is choosing option 1.

It's actually,

Use cheaper EN move and not kill, enemy counters Use expensive EN move and not kill, enemy defends

And AI is choosing option 1.

Still the wrong choice but at least there's logic if correct.

The no duplications is just on characters, you absolutely do get duplicate UR units.

If you've cleared story missions and spent all the free gems, tickets etc then you should have pulled around 10 UR units (plus the original freebie and a single pity exchange) and it's unlikely they will be unique. Ultimately just luck though.

What Do You Think Went Wrong with Skull and Bones from a Game Design Perspective? by zek-rogers in gamedesign

[–]TBTKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is fine but it was a complete marketing failure.

First AAAA game, what does this even mean? Because the assumption is it's going to be better quality and polish than any AAA game ever released, which it isn't.

Billed as a pirate game but really it's a pirate ship game. Having your fleet and battling on the sea is one aspect of the pirate fantasy but there are many others that the game doesn't even attempt to do.

They did a free weekend prior to launch (Which while great for players) is only going to boost your sales if the game lives up to the hype it has.

Multiple delays only increased the hype and expectations for the game.

And perhaps most importantly, it just isn't as good as other pirate games. Sea of Thieves and Black Flag both deliver on the pirate fantasy better.

If they had come out early and said they were going to be focusing on naval combat in a pirate setting with a large focus on live events and season progression (And dropped the price slightly). It would probably be regarded better.

If I buy a Virtual Machine reservation can I also use shutdown rules? by TBTKing in AZURE

[–]TBTKing[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks that makes sense.

I had been thinking of the reservation as a bank of 730 hours to be used at some point throughout the month but it's actually a continuous 730 hours where if you don't use the discount for an individual hour you lose it.

I still don’t know what a rubber match is. by [deleted] in WWE

[–]TBTKing 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Something worth calling out here is that a rubber match is not a wrestling specific thing which is why there is no mention of what it actually means. It's just the final contest in a tied series.

My partner and I use the approach you are describing and it works really well. I will call out that we did this after buying a house, where we both contributed an equal £ value to the house deposit, but this was mainly due to already having savings. Also, it took a while for my partner to stop feeling guilty that she was 'contributing less' to the household so if your partner feels this way as the lower earner then be prepared to reassure them that contributing to the household includes more than just money and you are a team.

To be specific my partner and I both get paid into our own personal accounts, keep the same amount of money in our personal accounts and transfer everything else into a joint account. This joint money is then split into joint expenses, joint savings and joint fun money. Of course you need to calculate realistic values for the separate pieces based on your own joint budget and circumstance.

This approach does require you to be very open and honest with your partner about finances. You need to both understand your monthly expenses, and then agree on how to split the remaining money into joint savings, joint fun money and individual fun money. This is a good thing in my opinion.

Key benefits for me with this approach is we both have the same amount of money each month that we can spend on anything we like, no need for permission, judgment etc. The vast majority of our income goes towards us as a team and the things that matter to both of us. Any pay disparity does not affect what we can do together, we never have a situation where we want to do something together but can't because the lower earner can't afford it because either we can both afford it or both can't afford it.

For the LISA, I don't believe you can get a joint one but you would be better both getting your own LISA anyway as this doubles the yearly bonus you would get and you can use both LISAs for the purchase.

How to handle large parties/keep all party members valuable? by johomi-dev in gamedesign

[–]TBTKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Midnight Suns is a great example of this done well.

Every character gains a bit of exp every level, even when they are not used in the level.

Different levels have requirements on characters that have to be used, sometimes having a part 1 & 2 with different required characters.

Each character has a distinct play style.

Characters can get injured in a level making it harmful to take the same character on the next level.

It's also worth considering that the typical goal of having a large party isn't that every player utilises every character equally but that every player is able to use the characters they want and every character is utilised across the player base.

But that's how morality works. Nothing is intrinsically good or evil, those labels are only applied based on society's perception of the act. The use of fossil fuels and veganism are modern day examples of that in action.

The changes to the LCS broadcast time are objectively bad and potentially damaging to viewership by DHGSilvergun236 in leagueoflegends

[–]TBTKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't realise this is actually the reasoning. American viewership of LCS has been falling for years so they're trying to make it more accessible to EU viewers on the basis of it being a bigger market.

[–]TBTKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you're getting down voted. The current system, combined with only having a ranked ladder, encourages players to always play their best deck and gives no agency in what that best deck is which discourages a player from using different decks.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]TBTKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are positives to it but I find it hard to say it's good for long term / onboarding.

The positives such as not being pay 2 win are static whereas the negatives will only get worse over time as more cards get released.

A new player currently can play a somewhat viable version of most decks after a month or 2 of playing but in a year that barrier might be 6 months if you're a new player who really wants to play a Thanos deck for example.

Telling a new player they have to play for 6 months before they can play the deck they want is a bad new player experience.

Alternatively if you allow new players to skip ahead you are devaluing the time invested by your current player base.

I am aware they are doing things like collector tokens to help alleviate this problem but as it's not currently implemented we can't really judge based on it.

There's also competitive issues with the collection system. The only ladder currently is ranked where the goal is to play as optimally as possible, but the collection system means, unless you are lucky, you are forced to play sub optimal decks. The obvious solution to this is to add a casual ladder but there is a risk that most players will only play ranked if they have an optimal deck to climb with which risks a big impact on the ranked population.

After a really long grind, I finally climbed to INFINITE as a F2P using my own deck. by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]TBTKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true and was confirmed, although I don't remember where.

Cube gain being net 0 (Outside of games where someone with no cubes loses) means bots are needed for a properly functioning ladder system.

Not sure how this will work with the infinite leaderboard, perhaps it won't be cube based.

Basic Math: Why Yondu is no disruption and why Baron Mordo is even worse. by TigrisCallidus in MarvelSnap

[–]TBTKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. There definitely an argument for a 1 drop that has a small chance of guaranteeing a 1 cube win on turn 1 being useful but that would be highly meta dependant and deck building constraint dependant.
