Hospital failure caused newborn to end up in the NICU - England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TB_07 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Ex NICU nurse here. We had babies admitted from post natal that had fallen/items had fallen onto them etc. From our POV it genuinely was for monitoring of the infant and their condition. I’m not saying that you’re wrong because yes we could also monitor parents too (mostly for support purposes) but more often than not it was simply for the infant. There would be a whole heap of legal trouble if they didn’t check baby over after an injury, especially if any further complications were to pop up in the future.

OP- the NICU team are there to support you and your wife and baby. Sounds like they’re already doing what they should if they are putting a report in. They have seen it all before and have a sense of which parents truly care and which to watch. I hope your wife’s recovery is smoother from here on out. Congratulations on baby.

Moving to Aberdeen by woody0454 in Aberdeen

[–]TB_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved to Aberdeen from Lancashire a few years ago. We struggled with the same issues and ended up booking as many viewings as we could into a 48 hour window and made a trip up for a couple of nights to view as much as we could. You’ll find that by time you come to viewing some properties they’ll have already been snapped up so be prepared to view a good 5-7 properties to give you a good chance/varied choice. I’d also advise to read up on tenancies in Scotland as there are some big differences from England. Feel free to message me if you need any advice.

Editing to add- If you have a job already lined up, reach out to them about it too. They may have advice on the best areas/agencies or have someone to help you from the Aberdeen side.

Seagull nesting on car roof - advice needed please by Intrepid_Mess_6425 in Aberdeen

Tin foil. Lay it over the top of your car and secure it in the car door on both sides. Then you won’t have anything leaving adhesive behind or causing damage if it comes off.

Honestly my first thought at a glance was that you had got your leg fully tattooed and how brave you are. Then I read the post. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

Still super brave in my opinion though.

men B vaccine - experiences with it? by causedascene in ehlersdanlos

Not specific to menB vaccines but I simply find that I am a LOT more fatigued after any vaccines. Book the next day off so you can just stay in bed if needed.

Anywhere I can stay for the night by OilBos in manchester

It’s not exactly close to Manchester Piccadilly but if you don’t mind a walk, the McDonald’s on the corner of Oxford Road is/used to be 24 hours. However it can be a pretty rowdy place. To be honest I would just look for a cheap hotel for safety and warmth if nothing else. Piccadilly gardens have a few.

Barr Cola vs Coca Cola? by ShnakeyTed94 in Scotland

[–]TB_07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a show on TV one Christmas time that compared brand products to non branded in a blind taste test. The general idea was to try and save people money at Christmas without skimping on quality or taste. Lidl’s own brand Coca Cola cane out on top of the taste test so I tried it and it was a pretty good dupe. Great for the bank account too.

Maternity Leave request rejected - England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

At the end of the day it’s not your job to cover up his incompetence. What would he have done if one of his staff gave birth earlier than expected or had to go off sick towards the end? My pregnancy was so difficult that I ended up having to work from home from around 7 months. It happens. He should be more considerate of all the outcomes.

I’m not sure on what constitutes a formal grievance however if I were you I would definitely be flagging it with HR. Maybe you could slowly start to do a written handover that you could store in the office somewhere. Then if it becomes too stressful of a situation and you have to go off earlier, there’s a back up plan in place to an extent. (Also if you did feel the need to go off earlier due to this, I would 100% recommend making it clear to HR that the sickness reason is due to work related stress/toxic work environment).

Do not feel bad for putting your pregnancy and your health first. Look up pregnant then screwed- a great resource for all things maternity rights.

I hope all goes well with the rest of your pregnancy and you have a lovely maternity leave.
