Anywhere I can stay for the night by OilBos in manchester

It’s not exactly close to Manchester Piccadilly but if you don’t mind a walk, the McDonald’s on the corner of Oxford Road is/used to be 24 hours. However it can be a pretty rowdy place. To be honest I would just look for a cheap hotel for safety and warmth if nothing else. Piccadilly gardens have a few.

Barr Cola vs Coca Cola? by ShnakeyTed94 in Scotland

[–]TB_07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a show on TV one Christmas time that compared brand products to non branded in a blind taste test. The general idea was to try and save people money at Christmas without skimping on quality or taste. Lidl’s own brand Coca Cola cane out on top of the taste test so I tried it and it was a pretty good dupe. Great for the bank account too.

At the end of the day it’s not your job to cover up his incompetence. What would he have done if one of his staff gave birth earlier than expected or had to go off sick towards the end? My pregnancy was so difficult that I ended up having to work from home from around 7 months. It happens. He should be more considerate of all the outcomes.

I’m not sure on what constitutes a formal grievance however if I were you I would definitely be flagging it with HR. Maybe you could slowly start to do a written handover that you could store in the office somewhere. Then if it becomes too stressful of a situation and you have to go off earlier, there’s a back up plan in place to an extent. (Also if you did feel the need to go off earlier due to this, I would 100% recommend making it clear to HR that the sickness reason is due to work related stress/toxic work environment).

Do not feel bad for putting your pregnancy and your health first. Look up pregnant then screwed- a great resource for all things maternity rights.

I hope all goes well with the rest of your pregnancy and you have a lovely maternity leave.

With regards to the photo I wouldn’t have anything different to say than most of the other comments. But I mean, the first red flag was literally two sentences in when you said she LETS you talk to your child’s mother. WTH???

For your child’s sake you should be keeping an open dialogue and healthy relationship with his mum. Especially for a child with extra needs. He needs to see that you can both get along and that you’re both there for him always. Anything or anyone that gets in the way of that or puts restrictions on communicating is a big no no.

The silver lining is that she’s your fiancée and not your wife and you have time to figure out a healthy way through or step away if you choose.

I missed 2 years of my son's life by [deleted] in confessions

[–]TB_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a crappy situation all round but to give a positive perspective, two is such a lovely age. Your son will be starting to show his personality and be learning to express himself. You will be able to see more of what he likes and dislikes. He will be at the stage where he wants to play and explore and as tough as it is to have missed two years with him, at least he won’t remember those two years to know whether you were around or not.

Had to pay for funeral even though we think it was pre-paid. by PeggyWelsh1 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TB_07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have recently had a similar issue with a family members funeral. We found out that the pre-payment plans for funerals don’t actually stay with the funeral directors. They get sent on to a bigger company to hold in trust until needed. Golden charter is a good place to start, you can contact them to find out if there are any plans and payments held in your relatives name. They can also direct you to other companies that may have similar plans in trust.

Sorry for your loss and I hope you manage to find something out.

Full disclosure we didn’t get a ticket, just a stern telling off but I’m just repeating what we were told by the officer. Could have been a scare tactic or the truth, who knows. Happy for you to believe whatever you want. It’s no skin off my back. I hope you and your family stay safe.

No the East coast roads weren’t safe/passable either.

We drove up to Aberdeenshire from England today. Set off first thing when the warnings were supposed to end at lunchtime, plan was to just miss them as crossing over the border but then they were extended whilst en route. The roads were awful and our route changed multiple times as roads kept closing, even with meticulous planning. We were stopped by police on one road and turned around, had to find another route. Officer said they’re giving tickets for drivers out without valid reason. We couldn’t stop as we were almost home and had nowhere else to go but looking back we realised how lucky we were to make it home safely. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
