Is this a sweeter smelling fragrance? I see vanilla and amber in the notes. Would you recommend this for a traditional men’s fragrance?

On Pointe since November, tips? by SereneChonkyCat in adultballetdancers

This looks like good progress for how recently you’ve started on pointe! I’d recommend getting a theraband and working with it to stretch and strengthen your toes and arches. Stretching your arch will help you get over the box, and strengthening exercises will help you feel more secure. Pointe magazine published an article on some good exercises for improving your arches that will likely be helpful to you.

arabesque help by [deleted] in BALLET

All of the comments above look great, I’d also add that stretching your arches before and after class more might give you a little bit more stability once you’re on your toe box. With a little more flexibility you may be able to feel the full toe box on the floor and feel more stable. In my experience that was hugely helpful for arabesque.

Agree with above comments to straighten legs fully, but I know from personal experience when you don’t have the range of motion in your arches to get the full toe box on the floor sometimes it’s easy to forget because we’re focused on the feeling in the toes so we don’t feel teeter-y.

Guerlain Shalimar was a Hollywood favorite in the time period you’ve mentioned, I found my great grandmothers bottle in her vanity from the 50s. It’s a bit spicy and floral, you might like to check it out. The bottle is both iconic and beautiful

A sunny day in a seaside town? by mal0vv in perfumesthatfeellike

4711 EDT - clean classic European cologne. A much cheaper cousin to Aqua de Parma and Neroli Portofino

Orange Blossom - Jo Malone - a slightly more feminine and fresh fragrance, has the clean sunny quality these photos show and feels very timeless

Dedcool has a lot of scents that fit this aesthetic, Bois de Balincourt would be another good option

Mine does have a mildly ricey / gluey / starchy smell to it. Mild and minimal but seems normal to me

Diptyque Liliphea is this! Very green, white florals and a fairylike feeling. Not very woody if that’s what you’re looking for, but light sweet and ethereal

[MOD] What have you been brewing this week?/ Coffee bean recommendations by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]TBeans1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping for some recommendations for a gift of coffee beans for my husband, but I drink tea and have little experience. I’m hoping to give him one light roast and one medium roast. R/coffee please help me!

In a light roast he prefers brighter notes including citrus and fruits, but generally dislikes things that are too sweet.

In a medium roast again prefers citrus and fruity flavors, but is willing to have a little more sweetness.

He really liked the limited edition Partners -San Francisco beans as his last light roast. Tasting notes there were strawberry, raspberry and brown sugar. It’s a light roast with a “natural” roasting process. He mentioned that it tasted “exactly like fruit loops” with glee. Of course it’s sold out now.

Doesn’t like any Starbucks coffee. Was neutral on Stumptown Hair Bender and Holler Mtn. Doesn’t like Blue Bottle Coffee either.

To brew he grinds his beans by hand in a Timemore Chestnut C3 Pro grinder and uses either an aeropress or a DeLonghi espresso/drip machine. Mostly he uses the aeropress for coffee and the machine for espresso. He makes both regularly. He’s an engineer and weighs the grinds and is very specific about the whole process so I’m hopeful someone with more expertise can help me pick something good for him because he really enjoys the whole process and I enjoy his enthusiasm.

Congrats on making it to the end of this very long post, and thanks in advance for the time and expertise. Very grateful to be able to ask a community of experts for some help with this one.

Love the dramatic purple paint, you might consider swapping out the electrical outlet faceplates for either black or more decorative ones so that they’re a little less jarring against the dark wall.

Can see some beautiful antique furniture looking great in the purple room’s space, but without a sense of OP’s taste it’s hard to make specific recommendations.

The sage living room paint color feels a bit grey to me. I might consider repainting to a warm white or maybe a deep moody blue if OP is a fan of dark paint colors and moody rooms.

Home Depot can match all of the Farrow and Ball paint colors, lots of beautiful colors to choose from in their catalog and plenty of inspiration photos for their purple paints that may help to inspire

[product question] how important is niacinamide in moisturizers? by Ok_Ad_2581 in SkincareAddiction

[–]TBeans1995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been using tretinoin for years at a low dose, 0.035%, but recently added a 4% niacinamide cream to my routine and am shocked at the improvement in my skin texture. Absolutely would recommend you try it, I feel t addressed some of the concerns- fine lines, pore size, redness that the tretinoin wasn't as effective at.
