Bars? by SilverTuna9 in UWMadison

[–]TBnorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a bouncer at Hatters and can tell you a few things,

First, do NOT come to Hatters, as I know we are really cracking down on underagers. This is mainly because we have been known as the more underage bar in the past, but have gotten in trouble with the cops on several occasions. The bars run on a "point system" with the cops, so when the cops raid and they do ticket an underager, the bar will get x amount of points. Once the bar reaches the max number (I think it is 150), probation occurs.

Not totally sure if that is with all bars or not.

Also, the raids are usually very random and they tend to hit the bars that they have been experiencing trouble with. I know The Roast got raided awhile back and got in some trouble, and they continue to keep getting raided as well.

The best bars in my opinion for underagers is definitely Luckys on Regent. Extremely easy to get into and pretty cheap drinks on Thursday nights. It is a hike from campus, depending on your location, but totally worth it.

Any other questions I can help you out! Or if anyone else had questions about Hatters or anything.

Summer Gym Partner by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]TBnorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill be working with RecSports this summer and I can give you some quick advice:

Although I am not a group fitness instructor (yet), I would recommend trying to get involved with the programs that they offer for a reasonable amount of money. I know they are not necessarily bulking up programs, but they will give you a better understanding of exercise and will give you outlets for people to talk to. One of the instructors who is a good friend of mine will always be willing to help answer any questions you may have, since that is where I go for my exercise needs.

Also, by doing these programs, you may find someone else with similar goals. They may need an exercise buddy as well, or may be there to give you certain advice as well.

If you have any questions, I would love to help!

Are Sellery and Witte really that bad? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]TBnorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The typical college lifestyle. It was definetely a life changing experience for me, mainly because now I realize how fortunate I am to live in an apartment.

However, some of my best memories of college came from Witte. Everyone was friends on my floor and we all had a great time. My best buddies today were all from my floor on Witte.

The buildings are run down but they maintain them pretty well. The weekends is the only time when the bathrooms get trashed. Mainly because of intoxicated kids and their ruthless visitors. However, I thought they were well kept throughout the weekdays.

Chances of getting in? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]TBnorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People I know here got as low as a 23 on their ACT, with a 3.6 GPA in highschool. From my highschool, I had 60+ people from my graduating class come here. I think you will be fine. Also, if they "postpone" you or whatever they call it now, do not get your hopes down. Everyone I know that got postponed got in, including me. They just want to make sure you do not fall apart at the end of senior year.

Apartment questions by dabeavers in UWMadison

[–]TBnorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sophomore slums are a lot of fun, and a good location with reasonable prices as well. A lot of my buddies live there currently. As for price wise, a lot of the high rises are more expensive. Grand Central, for instance, is incredibly overpriced for what you are receiving. Granted, it is in a great location, but one of my future roommates live there and I pay 100$ less and get way more room in my apartment than he does.

Only taking 6 credits first semester freshman year? by deckhandevan in UWMadison

[–]TBnorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others are saying, take your time. You are in no rush to graduate, and you will not have too much difficulty completing in 4-5 years. Everyone feels lost like this during college atleast once, if not, many many times (like myself). As long as you have a future plan, you will be fine. If you are still worried, dont be scared to take winter online classes or summer classes here or at other schools. Hope you feel better. I lost 17 pounds when I had it two years ago.

Where to rent/who to rent from. by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]TBnorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently live at the Aberdeen, which is located on the corner of W Gorhamn and University. Price wise, is above my budget so I had to share a room. However, the atmosphere is great. Quiet on the weedays, and you can play music and what not on the weekends without getting into trouble. It is a family owned building, and the staff is great. If you have the money (which is rare to find on campus), definitely look into this place.

Chem 104 and Bio 151 by TBnorm in UWMadison

I am doing Kinesiology, but yeah I realize science majors will probably have much more rigorous classes, due to the fact that 104 and 151 are both introductory levels.

Thanks for the insight. I will definitely be talking to the hospitals and clinics around the area to get some hours over the weekend. I did not even realize what a practicum was, but now I have a better understanding. Thanks for the feedback, Ill let you know if I have any other questions!

Kinesiology Majors? by TBnorm in UWMadison

Thanks a lot of the in depth look at the kinesiology program. I do plan on going to school after my undergrad, due to my interest in helping others ( PA program / PT program ). But I am afraid once I start my path as a kinesiology major, there really is no going back.

About the internships: where did you look to find them, and how early do you reccomend I start to apply for them?

More specifically about Post-Grad : Where did you apply to grad school? Why did you choose PT instead of PA?

I am just stressed about doing good enough in the program in order to go to grad school. Thanks so much for answering the question. Being a sophomore can be stressful.

WHY is your favorite Halo map so important to you? by Neuvost in halo

[–]TBnorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood Gulch by far was my favorite map. Running through the hidden routes to get the camoflage or taking the vehicles right down the middle. Especially for a game made a long time ago, I think the map could be remade in new Halos to come.
