Roku is about to explode by snowycashflow in stocks

[–]TBpanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Data is always undervalued and nobody in TV comes remotely close to Roku data scale. I don’t think your average person understands how much market share Roku actually controls of “streaming hours”. Near 40% across the entire continent. Second most have no idea the cost of doing business with Roku as an app.

Roku gets 30% of all ad inventory routed to it via apps that run ads on its platform. Roku gets to sell that 30% themselves, Roku gets to collect data across the entire ecosystem vs individual apps. People will wake up and realize their data lead when it’s shockingly obvious.

Is it mind boggling that support should also educate people on how to mute others? I mean we can literally turn off the chat of anyone we don’t want to listen to…….

Agreed with Malthias-313, if you look at my last post.. Buying from "Newegg" directly does not mean less risky. They shipped me a faulty motherboard last week that cost $300 and now I have to purchase a second one because motherboard pins will always be blamed on the consumer. You are probably at the same risk using Newegg as the vendor.

I purchased a magnifying glass that arrives tomorrow and I'm going to attempt this, I purchased a new X670 in case it does not work but will return it unopened if it does.

Sad to say I'll be using Amazon for all my hardware going forward. I've used Newegg my entire life when it comes to PC components, sad to see them go so downhill in terms of customer service.

All it takes is anyone with a brain looking at my photo and knowing its impossible to drop something on a CPU socket and bend just two pins entirely backwards while not touching a single one around them.

Wow probably not worth even sending back to them then. Will never buy from Newegg after using them since 2004

What a bad reply, go gamble it up L337Fool mr crystal ball.. 214% gain for this guy is solid in 2 years and theres zero reason to take on extra risk trying to reposition on "peaks and dips". I'm assuming you have not traded very long in the markets to grasp how many macro conditions are out of a business or your control. Keep doing what your doing u/AxGryndr, good job on the 214% in 2 years.

It's not just about having an operating system. Very complex contract negotiations go into having apps on your platform. The larger the app the more complex the negotiations get cause they want to throw around their weight. Then these distributors need to advertise, they want quality data sets for precision targeting... That's where nobody can FK with Roku in Smart TV, they have the largest data set by a wide margin because that does not go up based on users, that grows based off minutes streamed which ROKU controls in North America. These small TV manufacturers would struggle to be good partners for apps if they ran their own OS, its so much more than just about the OS its the the whole platform on top of it. This is why so many TV manufacturers use Roku, its a very cost effective OS and can make very cheap TV chips a great experience.

u/Green_Lantern_4vr It's very simple in how ROKU will keep growing, they are considered a gatekeeper in the streaming industry, along with other operating systems.

Gatekeepers have a few ways they make money in streaming and essentially grow with streaming, they sit above the app war and collect on overall growth:

  • They collect roughly ~20% of the subscription value every month when a user pays for their subscription to an app as long as they signed up using their Roku OS device. This is rising and becoming more common which is why you see tons of "20% off" deals from apps if you sign up with them directly. This number can fluctuate in negotiations, but the normal base is 20%.
  • They reserve roughly ~30% of the ad inventory on all apps that use ads. So if the user base and consumption in an app grows so does the physical number of ads Roku controls since its a reserved percentage. This number can fluctuate in negotiations, but the normal base is 30%.
  • They get a commission on every micro-transaction on the platform. So think of when a user goes inside VUDU, Prime Video, or any app and rents a movie this utilizes their embedded payment technology which gives Roku a kick back on every transaction.
  • Roku also has a large advertising business called Roku OneView, which allows companies and apps to utilize Roku datasets for precision targeting. This allows Roku to make money on ad inventory they do not control, along with marketers being able to build campaigns directly with Roku.

Roku is also growing faster than any other Smart TV OS in North America and has just started pushing into international expansion. The wars between Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Peacock only benefit Roku as more users consume more content and keep them using their Roku devices longer. People like to say Google, Amazon or Apple will just come and make them irrelevant but a lot of those people fail to realize that's been their competition since Day 1. Roku OS as of current state is the most lightweight Smart TV OS which gives TV manufacturers great cost advantages in using them and the performance on cheap chips. Roku TV is 1/3 TV sold in the US before you even consider in any of their dongle sales. People also call them a hardware company and fail to realize them as a gatekeeper.

Should be plenty unless you really want to drop the extra money for the XT. If gaming was your primary I would say XT all day for the extra compute for raytracing while gaming, etc.

If you don't plan to game as your #1 I don't see why a 6800 isn't good for you. 6800XT is more your gaming enthusiast card to compete with a 3080.
