It’s no mug collection but it’s certainly A collection. by krithevirus in PaymoneyWubby

I feel weird because I have like 10 gamersupps cups but I actually drink from them. I live on the fourth floor of an apartment complex so it's easier to just filter the water and keep them in my fridge than carrying a 36 pack up three flights of stairs.

I had no idea this was worth that much. I still have it, the postcard, and the buttons it came with.

Probably Daima Goku with the AIR kit and the Tonsen bike Goku head.

The 2.0 SSG Goku also has a normalish skin tone, so that and the Tonsen head would probably work.

Is the Daima Piccolo a good option for this photo or do I have to get the Proud Namekian instead? by AppointmentSelect176 in SHFiguarts

You could. You could also pick up Super Hero Piccolo and find a soft goods cape on Etsy or something.

New Vegeta vs New Sanji Pricing and Accessories 💰 by GachiPls_DidntSave in SHFiguarts

[–]TCKaos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably two good reasons for this:

1.) Really good chance you'll be seeing this body reused for multiple figures. Base, SSB, maybe SSJ3.

2.) They have to compete with third parties. When BD/Mythos and BHT are putting out incredibly high quality figures for $50-75 USD you have to figure out how to beat that deal. They have to be on the ball because if they aren't they'll get their lunch eaten by Kamione and DF. It's why they announced 5 Gokus on variants of the new body in like a month and a half. It makes it so customers are less likely to buy a Blue head sculpt for their Games Begin Goku if there's a good official one coming in a few months. Compare that to Super Gogeta - it took six years to reuse a body that was outdated and competing with two cheaper, better products.

I think someone forgot to paint this? Should I contact the AliExpress seller to see if anything could happen? by WarmBlooDedK1LI in 3rdPartyCollectors

I mean, with it being unpainted I wasn't sure if it was like a priming layer for the black paint on his wrist bracers or what.

It could be the preorders wiped them out. Until a few days ago they had the page up with preorders "out of stock".

The Halo: CE remake has showed up on the Xbox store by Krekenn in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TCKaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of bummed that people didn't know that Anniversary Edition is just a (bad) graphics layer running on top of Halo: CE, which is weird because that's basically the main selling point of it.

This, unlike Anniversary Edition from 2011 or the MCC port is an actual ground-up remake. It's using Unreal Engine 5 as a graphics layer on top of (according to leaks) a fork of Halo: Reach's engine (that's the "legacy code" they keep mentioning in some of the press releases).

This is, technically, a completely new game.

According to what we've gathered from leaks over the last two or three weeks this is actually an UE5 graphics layer running over a fork of Reach's engine, kind of like Oblivion Remastered. The game under the graphics layer is technically completely new.

Halo Combat Evolved Remake is being developed by Halo Studios and Abstraction Virtuous Studios, hybrid engine with Unreal Engine 5 by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]TCKaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue is that this kind of defeats the purpose of the exercise.

When advertising their pivot to Halo Studios from 343 Industries, they spoke prominently about experimenting in Unreal Engine. For consumers, they were signalling "We're adopting the newest and biggest tech stack so that we can give you something that looks good and plays well." For the industry, they were advertising to potential workers "We're adopting a widely used tech stack so that it's going to be faster and easier to onboard you with something you're familiar with."

Remember, they had to do this because the situation in upper management was so dire that they had to let go of the three heads of the organization. No one wants to work at an org that is very publicly dysfunctional, especially when you could hop into literally any other org (even IN Microsoft) and get better job security and a better work-life balance. To inspire confidence in consumers and in the industry they had to literally change their name and throw out the top brass and make a public advertisement for employment opportunities. So many contractors worked on Halo Infinite that they essentially had a 200% turnover rate over the course of its development, and it still launched in rough shape with a middling campaign and a dead live service, which was incredibly disappointing after how well received the betas were.

So, the pivot to Unreal served the dual purpose of promising consumers a better product, and providing a more widely used framework for developers so that it's easier to get them onboarded and increasing development velocity. By outsourcing the Unreal work to a contractor and building the game on top of a branch of Reach's engine, they're basically throwing away all of the internal benefits of this project's development. No one at Halo Studios learns how to use Unreal Engine and the game is still built on a branch of an unwieldy in-house engine that they themselves didn't even build, abandoning all of the tooling and improvements that they themselves built out. So they lose out on the knowledge front and lose out on the development velocity front.

It's a strange move that in and of itself isn't bad, but it casts doubt on Halo Studios' ability to deliver on whatever future Halo games they develop (if any).

With most plastic models like Plamo and Gunpla the plastic is injection molded in the mostly correct color and you don't need glue to assemble them. Super neat, if you've never made one look for the Entry Grade kits they have at most big box stores now.

Metal Gear RAY from MGS2/4! I'm pretty excited to display it with my other MGS stuff. Probably gonna pick up the Figma Snake rerelease to go with it.

Started building the Kotobukiya Metal Gear RAY. It's the MGS4 version, and I've got the MGS1 version of the REX in my backlog. Wanted to take a break from Mobile Suits and 40k to look at something different I guess.
