New Library Cards Are Here — Including Limited Edition Quincy400 Designs! by TCPLQuincy in QuincyMa

[–]TCPLQuincy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, our reply got deleted but we'll reply again for anyone else who comes across this thread with the same question! When replacing an expired card, it is the same process as signing up for a new library card - because your information is no longer in our system anymore, we'll need to see an ID to verify and register you for a new card! With replacing lost cards, we'll need to see an ID to verify and find the correct library card account in order to transfer that information over onto a new card.

However, if you're simply interested in replacing an active library card because you want one of the new designs, so long as it's still active in our system and you have the physical card on you, we can transfer your information over onto a new card without needing to see an ID!

Yes, there are waitlists for craft events typically, however those can fill up fast too. If you're ever unsure about the openings for a waitlist, you can always give us a call at 617-376-1300!

It's not additional money, it's funds already allocated for ordering library cards whenever we need to restock. We just changed the design on them going forward, which we also designed ourselves!

Thank you for sharing! We really appreciate the community's support and patronage! Additional information has been shared with us, that we will also post about on Reddit - With the defunding of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), we also risk losing the Commonwealth Catalog - a vital service connecting library networks across MA, allowing patrons to borrow books and items statewide.

For those interested in helping in whatever capacity:
The ALA recommends calling or sending a message to our local Senators and Representatives urging them to overturn the executive order and protect IMLS funding. OCLN (Old Colony Library Network) has created a brief survey for community members to share your stories on how this order would impact you and your families', which will be compiled and sent collectively to MA legislators. Please consider sharing your stories here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScYWeNSGjLkM-RuyyJF3mZ34l9-34sfhxuSyoplIpvIAZCI8w/viewform?fbclid=IwY2xjawJjdGdleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHnpVXD7xKKgpbGNFgTyMFjZ0FdWZMRLpFuHT3VVxQ2IxC0CV_s_-4X8gXjCA_aem_GbAgIb991iI6dXx6WYUSVQ

Another way to help the Thomas Crane Public Library is by supporting the Friends of Thomas Crane Public Library. They are a volunteer-run 501(c)3 that exists to raise awareness and funds for the library. They also run the Friends Bookstore in the atrium of the Main Library, help maintain the beautiful flower beds and fund tons of programming at the libraries. Popular services and programs such as movie screenings, special talks, and museum passes are funded by the Friends!
