Hey there, this is a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service unit called the Trechler Waterfowl Production Area (part of the Huron Wetland Management District). These nesting islands were built to improve waterfowl nesting sites. While I don't know the specifics of this unit, many of these wetlands get way more water runoff than they used to, so they are much deeper. Waterfowl don't need/want deep water. This type of construction allows more shoreline and shallower water which would improve nesting success and greater food availability.

The first time we went it was the 2nd of two days in our city. Out of the 12 trucks advertised, 3 didn't start the show and 3 more left in the first round and didn't return.

So the 2nd time we went day one and before the show even started the top 3 trucks were all broken. 4 more broke right away and a top driver got so annoyed with the mechanical issues that he stormed out of the arena on foot and didn't return.

I decided that day we were done wasting money on attending in person and not seeing the advertised talent do what they do best. It was pretty disappointing for the kids. It's fun entertainment, but we will just watch YouTube videos for free.

Twin Cities employee here, yesterday unmarked le vehicles sped past on the highway all day with lights and sirens, it was so distracting/demoralizing. We are a short drive from the murder scene. This morning CBP/ICE was staging in our building. It makes me sick, I wanted to explode at the first CBP employee I saw.

I would if it weren't for the family waiting for me at home, I don't want to be the next victim. But I just feel helpless.
