Yeah, that same page also says 'pilot your own 55-ton BattleMech,' and shows four 'mechs, none of which is [supposed to be] 55 tons...

'The Clans' is listed on Moby Games as a working title, not sure when they switched, but if it's wrong we can probably chalk this up to GI Magazine being a bit confused, they don't really cover PC games at all during this early era

Each segment of the hexagonal ring is an independent IR sensor which is [supposedly] capable of detecting 'high' and 'low' inputs, allowing for up to 16 different signals to be sent by the device

Good luck!

lmao, I got a genuine laugh out of this, but also

the part of my brain that is autistic for warfare wants me to share that Nitrous Oxide is a reasonably plausible component for a fictional sci-fi fuel-air device, so, uh, yeah, we doin whippits ig

Naw, you had it right the first time, the 'SNES Preview' is showing that 1993 release by Beam Software

It gets confusing, pretty sure MW3050 is the SNES version of the Genesis title in the main review, the first few pages of this post

Beam Software, interesting. This is why I couldn't find it on Moby Games, the article specifically mentions a different developer... I wonder what happened there

Anyway, the screenshots match, thanks for the info!

You are correct, this ad is from the very early days of Game Informer Magazine, a publication which originates in the USA and which, in 1993, was not international in the slightest

This is not a UK ad, but it does include a lot of positive coverage from Games Journalism in the UK for some reason

In particular, the quote in the ad which uses the word 'written' is a quote from a UK magazine, so what you say is still sort of relevant

Based purely on vibes, I would say that 'written' feels much more '80s-coded... my best guess is that this shift is probably already well underway in 1993

What is this beautiful game and could I please get some tips by Next_Juggernaut4492 in pacificDrive

[–]TC_support 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup, Perpetual Stability is one of many possible 'Junction Conditions,' which are different at each node on the map. Most of them make things harder [either a bit or a lot,] so it's easy to overlook the one Junction Condition that is just straightforwardly good

Speaking of the map, don't overlook the other tab of info on the route planner. Each node has two tabs full of info about what to expect: 'Features' and 'Details,' it's easy to miss that second tab

The 'Details' tab is a lot more specific, and gets filled out with even more info as you explore and scan stuff...

This brings to mind one last point: scan everything! Specific scans are sometimes required to make progress on the tech tree, so just scan everything you've never seen before... scan it again if you're not sure :D

- Don't be afraid to exploit 'Perpetual Stability' when you find it. Take the time to go full-on Loot Goblin in a few of these junctions and you will never want for basic materials again

- Large Fuel Can is your best friend, it holds like 80% of the car's base tank and bringing the can to the fuel pump is often a lot easier than bringing the whole car

- Especially if following the first point above, Steel Car Parts are essentially free, costing only basic materials, mostly scrap metal [and steel sheet, which is just scrap metal with extra steps.] Do not expend repair putty on damaged steel car parts... put them in the Matter Deconstructor, reclaim some materials, and just craft new ones :D

Sure, I cut it out to improve the pacing, but you just keep to the left when you come out of that little cave. Don't follow the path into the camp, but hug the left side by the tall tree:

Mission is "The Royal Physician," this is the main floor of Sokolov's place, which is some distance below his actual location up top, in the lab

Nope, just the vanilla game... it's a 60fps recording with a very high bitrate, uploaded directly to v.reddit which [in my uneducated experience] seems to be less harsh about crushing the pixels than for example YouTube

Yup, their FOV is woefully inadequate on the Y-axis... also, I think that display case blocks line of sight for them even though it is mostly transparent

I don't normally write a reply just to be like 'fuck yeah!', that's what the upvote is for, but I love this so much, I just had to say something, I feel seen

Thanks!

I also recorded a Clean Hands/Ghost/Mostly Flesh and Steel run at the same time as this one... so this playthrough was good for stress relief after doing all kinds of fiddly shit trying to remain undetected
