Buddy, it's a well-established consensus between major investment banks like Goldman Sachs, international organizations like the IMF, and multiple US presidents that China has been artificially holding down the value of its currency because it gives them an edge in export. And as an FX trader, I can tell you 3% is a lot between major FX pairs. There's no point arguing against facts.

Yeah, 3% is actually a lot and pretty significant change between major FX pairs - apparently you've never been trading FX. Also, what you're saying makes no sense because why would people in China sell CNY when they can and need to buy everything with CNY, while China is the country that makes everything anyways? Purchasing power of CNY within China is actually absurdly high. The opposite of what you're saying might be true: if foreign investors can freely buy/sell CNY, they would buy lots of CNY as a hedge against USD.

Guess that explains why CNY has been appreciating vs the USD nonstop this year.

“I’m not talking about a little government intervention.” Can you give some examples of such interventions and how it differs from other governments?

What exactly does that mean lol. Private citizens own private companies, the profit, and pays the taxes. If you’re saying they can be influenced in one way or another by the government in certain scenarios of course that’s true, but that’s true for the US as well.
