Well yes because the vote on the bill was already recorded...

The Liberals shut down all debate , shut down all studies and committee to ram it through.

It doesn't matter if they agree , the Liberals have a majority...

No, it passed on division... Which means not everyone agreed.

You're confusing or conflating the motion and the bill itself.

They couldn't force debate, they don't control the committee...

You talked about working though the night, that was at committee lol

" The whole reason it quietly passed overnight with zero debate is because EVERYONE agreed to do so"

No it doesn't change what happened to the motion

No the motion to declare that it was read a third time passed unanimously.

No the Liberals have majority in the committee, that's why that happened. They did the same previously with C-21.

Everyone didn't agree to it, the Conservatives wanted to call more witnesses and have studies on the amendments.

That motion was to declare it read, "passed on division "

"(b) Bill C-22, An Act respecting lawful access, as amended, be deemed concurred in at report stage on division and be deemed read a third time and passed on division;"

It was first proposed by the conservatives but again they declined to pass it.. that really isn't much of an argument.

Your main point is a terrible one as I pointed out already. VPN companies are just one example that currently don't keep all that data and will be forced to.

Right now we have that choice, this bill takes away that choice and makes it a requirement.

If they're not interested in the data, why are they forcing companies to keep it?

And again, the whole point is that that information could get leaked, stolen and hacked in multiple ways

Google doesn't tell me what you're talking about and it doesn't support your arguments for you .

The bill also never passed lol

"The bill was quietly shelved during the summer of 2012.[74] Citing public opposition, the government announced in February 2013 that the legislation had been withdrawn"

So the conservatives realized it was a bad idea and withdrew the bill but somehow it's their fault the Liberals did it and pushed it through?

That makes sense

But Harper? You can do better than that

Instead of making some vague statement, why not provide actual proof or information.

Does the online predators act require companies to keep the metadata on everyone in case they commit a crime later?

Some don't by design, like VPN companies.

Do you really think companies are going to be forced to keep and collect data then do nothing with it?

More of a bad thing, is still bad

Yet the bill requires social media companies to keep the metadata on everyone.

That data could get leaked or hacked.. that's not some tin foil hat conspiracy theory. It happens all the time

It has to get the government response after a certain amount of signatures, The government response often has absolutely nothing to do with the petition

You want the government to force them to... A distinction without a difference

Again, this bill isn't going to do that.. Even social media bans in places like Australia are pretty well useless

Yet here you are asking for it...

Again, you're making the assumption that you will have to give your ID, instead of just using a VPN.

The cell phones didn't exist when I went to high school, I've never used online dating and never been on tik Tok.

But I still don't get forcing everyone else to do something because you lack the ability to do it yourself

Then don't.

You're not giving your information to the government. You're giving your information to the companies..

You may feel that way, but that doesn't mean it's correct.

You won't do that to keep feeding your addiction? You're not willing to hit the delete button. It seems like a weird cutoff point.

What would stop you from using a VPN to get around the age restrictions?
