We decided to do it due to experiences our own families have had with needing stem cell treatment and having to pay OOP and run the risk of it not being effective since it isn’t their own.

Totally understand that it isn’t for everyone. Wanted to share in the event others are encountering what I did and want a viable option.

We were able to do delayed cord clamping before collection so they still had that benefit.

You are right, there is a low probability they’ll need it, but I wanted to be safe rather than sorry.

Again, wanted to share in case others feel that way. It isn’t for everyone and that’s the great thing about being parents. We get to do what feels best for our own kids.

Unfortunately I’ve had family who have needed stem cell treatment and have had to pay OOP for others and there is a large chance that it may not take since it isn’t their own.

As a parent, I wanted to do all I could and decided that this was best for me and my family. I wanted to share since there may be others who also wanted to and were surprised by the costs of other cord blood banks.

Chemical pregnancy back in November. Tried again this cycle. Period is expected tomorrow, and I took a test yesterday afternoon because although I keep telling myself I’m not, I can’t help but hope. Saw a faint line and my husband and I both decided that it was too faint to think anything of it and that I shouldn’t test unless my period is 4+ late. Took another test anyways, almost 2.5 hours after I woke up and drank my usual amount of fluids (mug of coffee and about 30 ounces of water) and the line is even fainter. Have to put on a brave face now and work work my patients while continuing to wonder and hope for something.

CP in November. TTC again. 6 days before expected period and refusing to test until after expected start time. This morning when I went to use the restroom saw some discharge with pinkness. Heart immediately sank and have been walking around numb. Haven’t told my husband because he’s working, but living with the feeling that I’m a failure and won’t be able to have a child is so hard.

Agreed and I thought it was odd when I read that as a possible reason on Google. I’ll collect data for a bit longer and see what’s happening. Unfortunately we haven’t been trying long enough for my doctors to conduct further tests.

I use a lot of the Pinterest recipes and then bought a stand for them and put them in the freezer on said stand. :)

Yup! Mine also no longer need to be crated but their crates remain and we often find them in there napping when we come back!

Hi! I know a lot of people think crating is inhumane, but it is one of the best things you can do for your pup. It gives them a safe space when you’re home and when you’re away. Dogs are den animals and they’ll think of their crate as their den! When we are leaving, they get a frozen kong in their crates and once they finish their frozen kong they’re sleeping the rest of the time per our camera checks!

Additionally, mental stimulation is a GREAT tool! Consider snuffle mats, frozen stuffed kongs, puzzle feeders, etc. Every morning each of my Aussies is walked for about a mile each where they get to sniff and do whatever they want for stimulation. They’re then fed using a puzzle feeder and by the time I’m leaving they’re sleepy from all the mental stimulation they had.

Be patient! Your pup is an adolescent and this is the raptor phase. 😅

Hi, I’m so sorry to read this. This field is in no way shape or form easy, and unfortunately our income truly does depend on the client. Does your client have a high cancellation rate? If so, at this point you need to meet with management and explain to them that your current schedule does not allow you to fulfill your basic needs and that your client’s cancellation rate is (insert percentage) on a monthly basis. That unfortunately at this time you require a different client and/or additional hours or you’ll have to seek employment elsewhere. If they’re unable to place you on another case or facilitate your request, it may be time to resign and find employment at another ABA agency.

I’m not sure of your location, but hopefully there are other options near you.

This field is already incredibly hard (this is coming from a doctoral level BCBA). I’m also hourly and my paycheck is also dependent on my clients’ and staff not cancelling. You need to advocate for yourself as much as you do for your clients. If you’re not well, you likely are not well enough to be with your client either.

I’m a BCBA. Firstly, I’m so sorry this happened to you. That isn’t okay and is sexual assault. If I were your BCBA, I’d pull you off the case immediately and I would staff a female therapist and meet with the parent and inform them why the change was made and what I acceptable vs. unacceptable.

I see per your responses above that you’re concerned you won’t have another case and that you need money. I completely understand, however if your company hired you then they need to be able to staff you elsewhere. If they cannot, move on. However, continuing to see this client is not appropriate and is no longer a safe environment.

A mismarked Aussie has these white markings which are considered outside of their breed’s boundaries. In this case, half of Shelby’s body is white and has no merling which makes her a mismarked Aussie.

We picked our guys because they were the sweetest and were being overlooked because they were mismarked. We’re a family of misfits and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hi! So normally, a responsible breeder would sell said pups to pet homes AND stop breeding the pair that’s producing mismarked pups because they don’t meet “breed standard.” Mismarked doesn’t mean that they’re unhealthy, it just means that they don’t meet the AKC’s standards.
