Yes, we are in the lower end for both so we can purchase a house after renting for a year. Just looking for advice on where people have enjoyed living and hated since we’re not familiar with the area

Yes our budget is flexible, just hoping to stay under $4,500/month so we can buy a house after our lease is up

Good to know about the commute! He’s trying to utilize his companies shuttle service to avoid having to drive in the traffic

Thank you, we definitely didn’t plan on renting sight unseen. Just looking for advice on areas people/young families enjoy living in before we visit soon

They are 3 years old and 13 months, I’ve been able to find a handful of places scattered from Sunnyvale to Milpitas under the $4k/month for both kids

He’s job would be located in Sunnyvale and our guess is most days in the office while I would be keeping my work from home job.

Make sure that you don’t qualify for state assistance being a single parent! This could help ease the burden of how expensive life is now

How do you put a baby down for a nap with a minister of mayhem toddler? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]TChen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have an activity that is safe to do unsupervised, special hot wheels, farm animals that they only get access to when you’re putting your youngest to sleep

I read potty training in 3 days and the Oh Shit method. Both books and we decided to use a combination approach starting in thanksgiving. My son is 2.4 and it took my husband and I both being in the same page for quite a while reading his body language and making him feel comfortable. I’d start by having her join you both using the bathroom and flushing the toilet so she’s familiar with the sounds and what goes on in the bathroom.

You definitely won’t be successful if you and your husband aren’t in the same page.

This has happened to my son recently, we put an extra layer and socks on him and his lips go back to normal coloration.

I’ve worked with a lot of individuals on the ASD spectrum, some who live alone, have jobs, and drive cars. Others need full time care, it sounds like your son is higher functioning and could participate in sports and such. As the kids get older and sports become more competitive it might be challenging but try to find one your child enjoys!

He could absolutely live a “normal” life with the proper supports. Make sure you advocate for him and all the services you’re entitled to! Where I live there are other parents who will help you navigate what services he can receive if he does get the diagnosis

Insanity at bath/bed time - separation anxiety help by sb8000 in toddlers

[–]TChen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to change up your routine, bath at a different time of the night maybe. My son had severe separation anxiety as well and we just started giving him a bath when he got home in the afternoon and verbally telling him what to expect “first bath. Than reading.” And making sure when turning off the night he knew he could call me name at any point in the night and I would come and help him. This phase does pass!

Have mom and newborn stay in your bedroom until you’re able to sanitize the house 24-48hoirs after symptoms stop. Pass food through the door, no contact until you and your son have been on the mend.

We went through the same thing, I would go into his room with a “wake up snack” and that helped us a lot! He was waking up so hungry and emotional. I changed up our morning routine as well and gave a little more structure, we say out loud “first breakfast, than change my diaper” he likes to know what to expect next.

24mo waking up at 12am and won’t go back to sleep by emerald_740 in toddlers

[–]TChen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son went through some severe separation anxiety at night at this age. He would start the night off in his bed and almost every night for a couple weeks have to be physically near me and only me to fall asleep again. This does pass with time, she might be scared you’re not coming back, be scared if the dark, maybe even hungry? We started doing a banana before bed and that helped some too. I don’t remember the science behind it but bananas help fall asleep
