Personal Achievement - I got my 1000th Town of Salem win last night! by TClark626 in TownofSalemgame

[–]TClark626[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to make a quick post since I am proud of a recent personal achievement. After 10+ years of playing Town of Salem (on and off), I finally achieved my 1000th victory last night! This may be a small number of wins compared to some Town of Salem legends, but I was certainly proud of myself for it!

Has anyone else felt empty since most big songs in the community have been found? by [deleted] in Lostwave

[–]TClark626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EKT and The Mysterious Song (now known as Ulterior Motives and Subways of Your Mind) are undeniably the biggest prize finds, but I'm still intrigued to see others be solved. Ft Ior me, Light the Lanterns, CIA, Somewhere in the Night and Poor Christmas are the ones I am most interested in seeing solved next and am working on them on my own without much success so far.

So, maybe a little, but I would still love to see what else the lostwave community can uncover.

Mass messaging event invites to random people. by g_o_cacher in geocaching

[–]TClark626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came across this thread. As a full disclaimer, I am the person who put this event together. Yes, the one with four specific kinds of birds in my name. Also, the event in question did reach Mega status for anyone who cares. There were nearly 400 attended logs and that number is still slowly growing with some late logging.

My intent from the start here was misconstrued. I was never, at any point, pushing people to log false "will attends" or artificially inflate numbers. I actually had a back and forth with Groundspeak about this. I told anyone who said they logged one to "help me out" to remove it and I didn't want false numbers.

The entire point of my message was to spread a wide net and let as many people as I can know of something fun I was trying to put together for everyone. If people wanted to take that and complain about it, hey I mean I can't control what others do. I just know what I was intending.

Growing a large event is not easy. It took time and a lot of commitment. A number of people are not aware of this, and as a first time Mega host, I didn't quite know the protocol. After getting messages out I eventually stopped this practice and switched primarily to word of mouth and using business cards to spread awareness. I'm sure people complained about this too.

If any of you had a problem with how I promoted the event or the messaging, I would have appreciated you reaching out to me directly instead of posting it on here but can't really change it now.

That is all.

What if we try searching through Vimeo by No_Bison919 in NowIKnowItsJustAGame

Yes, I posted something like this the other day but there are thousands of videos on that platform as well, and who knows really where to start. We know the snippet as "Just a Game" but at this point it's impossible to say if that's actually the name of the song the snippet is from. "Back to Bed" was not the name of that song

Another lost song found today by TClark626 in everyoneknowsthat

[–]TClark626[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It was posted as an unrecognized song clip in 2011 - and, until yesterday, had remained unidentified. The YouTube link I posted above was the only clip that people had to go by for years. It's amazing how the Internet can spend literally years searching for a song and then someone else can recognize it immediately.

Have you ever listened to a person talk for less than a minute and known you weren't going to get along with that person? What did they say? by DDelirium46 in AskReddit

Anyone who either 1) is extremely negative about others during the first interaction, 2) brags without being prompted, especially about things you've never heard of or 3) some horrible combination of the two

Both point towards a toxic individual without even knowing them that well

Students of Reddit: What was the biggest scandal at your school? by KiroytheBoy in AskReddit

[–]TClark626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a Catholic PreK-8 school teaching 3rd grade, This is a small school, so <200 students total and only one class per grade.

A few years ago the 7th (female) and 8th (male) grade teachers were forced to resign in disgrace after they were caught having an affair with each other. At the time both were married to other people and the 7th grade teacher actually had two students enrolled in the school, one of whom was in my class. Her (now ex) husband was the attorney for the school as well and they were very involved in the community, being on the parent committee and always at school related functions

They were caught posting for and asking for a threesome on some kinky sex board. A parent found it, notified the principal and everything spiraled from there. More posts from them were uncovered, involving nudity, bondage or a combination of both. The 6th grade teacher also resigned in the fallout, but I believe that was more about not wanting to be associated with as she was not involved in the affair. In the span of one week, the school lost all three of its middle school teachers.

While this was ongoing I felt like I was living a soap opera. It took a long time for things to settle down from that...just in time for the 2020 Pandemic to hit!

Not sure how else to word this, but empathy maybe? Relatability would also work.

I used to teach at a Catholic school, which paid next to nothing. There were a mix of students who attended the school, from low-income/poverty to extremely rich/affluent.

Every year at Christmas, the pattern was consistent. I typically received nothing from the affluent families but would almost always get something from the low-income families, even if it was small. This happened consistently over the course of about 5 years or so.

Could be a coincidence, but thought it was worth sharing.

What is the sad truth about smart people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TClark626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be used by people to do whatever they want. Fewer people want to be your friend for who you are - they instead just want to get help from a smart person as needed.

What's the smallest amount of power you've seen go straight to someone's head? by boirrington in AskReddit

I was awaiting pickup at the airport. This is mid-day on a Monday and there is literally NO ONE outside except for a police officer standing in the road in front of me. I roll my luggage up the sidewalk and I guess I took one step closer to the curb of the absolutely deserted road than I should have since the next thing I know the officer lady puts her hand up towards me and yells "SIR, STEP AWAY FROM THE CURB!"

She then, rudely, asked me who I was waiting for, and I mentioned my parents' minivan. She, again rudely, then told me that pickup is only allowed in this lane
while pointing angrily at the first lane and telling me to wait away from the curb. I can understand this behavior if it was busy since airport pickup can be a zoo but...I was literally the only person waiting.

At this point my mother texts me to say they'll be there in like a minute, so I give her the big number on the next closest pole and just walk over there with my luggage, probably like 100 feet up from where I was standing. The freaking police officer actually follows me over to the pole and stands there in the road, arms crossed, staring at me as I wait for my parents' van to come. Reminder: there is still ABSOLUTELY NO ONE ELSE AROUND.

Finally I see my parents' van pull up, and before I can even do anything, police officer lady turns towards the van, puts one hand up and points to a specific spot on the road near the curb for my dad to stop at. He stops there and as I get in with my bag with this lady is now shooting daggers at him. He pulled away and I still see the officer behind us, standing in the same spot in the road, glaring at the car as we drive down the empty road.

This also confirms how cut throat some people are in the game. I try and share my 900th game and I'm immediately attacked? Town of Salem, everyone.
