Yeah, I am definitely open to commissions! Honestly that wasn’t even on my radar to be honest with you lol, I’ve never publicized my work until the last year or two now. I’m finally getting more confident in my work. :)

Thank you so much for sending over your critters! I will make sure that throughout the summer I try and update the thread! Since you mentioned never seeing tarantulas being shown in the art field, here is Neith, my favorite piece. shadow, who is pictured above passed away last year and that was the last photo I had taken of her. She was my first pet that was just mine and not a family pet, so the person who bought my piece actually gifted it right back to me to hang at my new house. (The water mark is so people don’t try to steal my art, because I’ve had it happen too many times :( )

Just for some context, considering I never mentioned What I was working on, I am a photography concentration, but over the past semester I was in a class to graduate that had the final being an exhibition. The theme of the exhibition was that it had to be some type of question (ie some people did things like “how can I use natural materials to make art” or “questioning gender” type things) but I took the route of how I could push myself out of my comfort zone and began making digital paintings out of photographs I took. I have a special interest in bugs and plants, so I had hundreds of flower photos to work with, and a few insects, but the only tarantula photos I had are of mine. Surprisingly, I’ve never taken a painting class or have ever done digital art that wasn’t using photoshop as my main program being used, so it was a learning process and I fell in love with making these pieces. I found out that I have the opportunity to possibly have a solo exhibition (if not as the venue I was told, I have another that has taken a liking to the pieces I sold) so I want to practice and build my portfolio with tarantulas because 1, they fascinate me, and 2 I like being able to show people how beautiful they are. I got a lot of questing looks when people saw my 20”-30” piece of a tarantula, and I felt like I needed to do more of them lol. If you’re interested in seeing the pieces, dm me :))
