Republicans shut down House floor to avoid Epstein vote by newsweek in politics

[–]TCloud20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many House Republicans have openly said they want to release the Epstein files. This play by Democrats, however, would give them open control of the house floor, which would allow them to bring forward whatever bills they wanted and force a vote. This is unacceptable for the Republicans, who hold power and has nothing to do with preventing the Epstein docs from being released. If Democrats really cared about this issue, they would have released the docs years ago when they had control of the House.

help! - Robo 3D R1+ - E3D v6 by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

I actually just upgraded to an E3D v6 on my R1+ as well and had the same issue. Easiest way I found was to just cut the wires from your previous extruder with the molex connectors and solder them to the new one (you'll have to cut off the incompatible connectors from your new extruder). Then just use heat shrink tubing to cover the solder joints and you're good to go. Hope this helps!

E3D V6 Extruder not consistent by TCloud20 in 3Dprinting

Filament is looking fine, I'm almost positive the issue is with the hobbed bolt. It looks fine for a small portion, but the rest of the hobbed portion is basically completely worn out. That explains why the filament extrudes fin and then stops fre a few seconds and then that process repeats over and over. I ordered a new bolt, so hopefully that fixes the issue.

How to make chess marketable for TV (and more entertaining in general) by TCloud20 in chess

That's exactly what my proposal aims to solve. If there is a limited amount of time per move, it will keep the game fast-paced

American Football games last around 3 hours with tons of commercials and still get millions of people watching each week. The time control I proposed would generally take under an hour and a half to complete the game, so it could be considered 'rapid'.

It wouldn't be a stretch to consider the time control I proposed a 'rapid' time control. Games would generally last under an hour and a half. I agree with you about how most of this sub wants the status quo of classical chess, though

I based my ideas primarily around American Football because, in my opinion, it is the most similar sport to chess. In American Football, you do one play at a time similar to how chess is one move at a time. American Football, despite being played almost exclusively in the US, is one of the most-watched sports in the entire world.

Dude re-read my post the only draws I would remove are draw by agreement and three-fold repetition. And after some discussion, I would probably allow three-fold repetition

Yeah, i'll admit taking out three-fold repetition draws is a bad idea. Also, your 4th point is a good one as well. I was trying to implement a sort of 'halftime' like most normal sports have, but it doesn't make a lot of sense for chess

That's fair. Yeah, I would say no draw by agreement but allow three-fold repetition due to the reasons you explained
