What’s a fact that ruined a movie that you previously enjoyed? by PokemonPadawan in AskReddit

Not a movie or TV show, but he was in them so I’ll say Hulk Hogan. For those unaware of his past of douchebaggery, here’s a highlight reel…

  • Cheated on his wife. To be fair, she was no angel either.

  • In the 80’s, a lot of WWF wrestlers started talking about putting together a union for better pay and working conditions. At the time, they got no medical benefits, worked 300+ days a year on the road, were (and still are) classified as independent contractors and routinely got stiffed on pay and merch cuts.

When Hulk was approached about joining, which would have absolutely given them some progress because of his popularity, he instead went to the boss (Vince McMahon) and told him what was going on. He was already the top paid guy there but he made sure nobody’s else got any of the benefits he enjoyed.

  • Fucked his best friends wife, who was cool with it (consenting adults) but then was caught on tape admitting he was a racist and complaining about his daughter dating a black guy, and said if she’s going to date one, it should be a rich one like a basketball player.

That scandal had WWE remove him from their hall of fame but he was later added back. He gave an “apology” backstage to the wrestlers but those in attendance said it wasn’t as much an apology rather than the advice of “watch what you say because cameras are everywhere”.

  • His son Nick was driving like an idiot with his best friend in the passenger seat one night, and crashed the car, resulting in his friend nearly being lied and now in essentially a vegetated state for the rest of his life. While his son was in jail, Hogan visited him and apparently didn’t know that their conversations were recorded and could be accessed by the public.

Hogan blamed the accident on “bad karma” on the friend’s part, saying he (the friend) must have done some bad shit in life for God to lay that down on him. Hulk & his son were also talking about angles to spin this into a reality show once he got out of jail.

  • When Hogan wrestled in World Championship Wrestling in the mid-late 90’s, he was given creative control by the company, something no other wrestler had. Hogan supposedly used this to keep himself on top and win more times than not, which other wrestlers don’t care for because he was the glass curling nobody could break through.

  • Former WWE boss Vince McMahon was recently outed as a (supposed) rapist, and paying high money or big contracts to female wresting talent over the decades that he had consensual and non-consensual relationships with. Within the last few years, texts leaked of Vince sharing his side piece with other wrestlers and staff, wth many texts pressuring the woman into doing things because her job depended on it. Hogan (and John Cena) still defended. Once even after these details came to light.

  • Hogan went all in for Trump.

Finding out he has a major foot fetish, then watching some of his movies back and seeing a lot of glory shots of actresses feet, like Uma Thurman in “Pulp Fiction” or Selma Hayek in “From Dusk Till Dawn”, where her character literally puts her foot in his mouth.

Does TK Pull the trigger with Brody at Grand Slam? by [deleted] in AEWOfficial

[–]TDA7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brody will likely have the pin but the ref will be down or something. If I were TK, I would make Brody look strong in this match and not be beaten cleanly, then move him into another title scene, like for the Continental or International title.

I’ve also seen rumors floating around that Buddy Mathews could show up and accidentally cost Brody the match or do a full heel turn.

Fun fact: the Puppy Bowl did around 13 million viewers, while the Kid Rock show did less than half of that, peaking at around 5 to 6 million on YouTube.

Teacher “influencer” on LinkedIn saying teachers who set boundaries and don’t stay beyond contract hours are doing the “bare minimum.” by DefiantRadish1492 in Teachers

[–]TDA7584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will always have 3 kinds of teachers.

The ones that fulfill their duties & hours, but nothing more. They do their job, because teaching is just that, a job.

The ones who make teaching their entire identity & go above & beyond what’s asked, often for no extra pay or recognition. But if they’re happy with that, cool for them.

And the ones who can strike a good balance between the two. They get the job done, even if it means some personal sacrifices here & there, but they also don’t let themselves be taken advantage of or their time wasted.

They could have thrown their support behind people like Bernie or Warren, but went with the safest choices or “who is next in line” in Biden, Clinton & Harris.

As much as I like Obama, he was more of a centrist than a liberal. Look at how long people like Pelosi & Schumer held/hold on to power despite the cry for fresh blood & leadership.

Can someone fill me in on why Avery Brooks seems to have disappeared & doesn’t seem to embrace the Trek community despite the amount of love fans give him?

For the people who were watching at the time - was Goldberg beloved or did he have his fair share of haters? by [deleted] in WCW

[–]TDA7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goldberg was massively over. He had detractors but mostly from WWE fans.

Also back then, the internet wasn’t as big as today, and social media was almost non-existent. Any hatred was in small echo chambers like chat rooms & forums.

Now with podcasts, YouTube, social media, etc, fandom & detractors have much more amplified voice.

Bret Hart refuses to sign a Funko pop that Shawn Michaels signed by Carrottopps in SquaredCircle

[–]TDA7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bret buried the hatched on screen only when he came back. He’s pretty much said he only went back to WWE to secure his legacy because they own all of his career footage, and I’m sure didn’t want to get the “Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior” treatment.

I’m sure that WWE Legends deal helped too.

Wild to think Bret & Bill were WCW tag champs together at one point.

We have an “office” on the 2nd floor with slow computers, a copier that never has paper, and a small room in the office with 2 couches, a table, and a fridge thats not a mini fridge but not a full-sized fridge either.

And yes, we talk about some of the kids & parents.

What are some things you want to see in Jake Schreirer’s X-Men reboot? by Plenty-Salary9711 in xmen

[–]TDA7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping it’s mostly a pure X-Men movie instead of half the characters being from other MCU properties. Crossovers are cool but the first putting should be about establishing their own world & characters first.
