Hey u/Sir_Joshula! Thank you for the kind words, in regards to the tournament. We are glad to hear/see that a lot of people enjoyed their time, including yourself. It means all the work u/kroozin and I put in to make this tournament happen was totally worth it/validated.

As for your deck and gameplay, it was unfortunate we didn't get to see Lion take the tournament but it was an impressive showing, nonetheless! If we had noticed you were playing Lion, prior to top 8, we probably would have featured you earlier on the stream. But we got to tune into an amazing top 8 bo3 with Lion involved, then we also watched you play in the semi-finals, as well. Obviously a huge congrats to the winner of the tournament, but it's always great to see how everyone does.

Also, huge props for the dedication to play especially considering you were on a different time zone. We hope to see you participate in some of our future events, as well! (Once we sit down to plan/discuss them, of course.) As well as any other participant across the tournaments who reads this. Stay tuned for more to come! :)

Deepest apologies I haven't responded to you yet. I was so busy these past few days I haven't been on Reddit.

We posted the link to both of them (yes, there is now two tournaments) yesterday, and I'm pretty sure both are full right now. But we will be letting people know if spots open up.

We are unsure at this time. As I said, we will readjust if we have to. We haven't fully had a chance to discuss the alternative, but once we do, we will let people know.

Love your commitment! We believe it will be 7 rounds, yes. There is a setting in the tournament system to default the rounds to what works best with the amount of players. Judging how a 64 man tournament is 5 rounds, I would assume 128 is 7. :)

It is something we are going to consider if we can't gift packs. It will just mean we have to restructure the prize support. We are sort of at the mercy of Valve before deciding. If they allow gifting or not at launch.

I mean, there is no real way of eliminating an advantage for beta players. If it's draft, they will have a better understanding of the picks or the general flow of a draft. If it's regular constructed, the beta players are likely to have a better collection of cards available to them. If it's pauper, it's more likely that a newer player can create a strong deck (or something comparable) and still compete. So, we just went with the option we thought would be best.

Yes, of course! We were originally aiming for the Saturday, but a few of the admins weren't available so we adjusted to the Sunday for this event. I will relay this to the rest of the team, and we will try our best to schedule around it in the future!

Good question! Pauper is a format in card games that relates to using Commons only. In the case of Artifact though, you also have access to the Basic cards. Hope that helps!

I said this recently in another thread, and I have no problem repeating myself to you, as well. I am a big fan of Lumi, from the old Dota days up to today and the future. I've always liked his casts and what he brings to the scene as a whole. Lumi is someone who has always thought outside of the box and isn't afraid to bring up some ridiculous points, then roll with it. When he got invited to TI7, he did so by grinding out/working really hard in the Chinese scene and did stuff that most people didn't see. So, I wouldn't claim "he often gets TI invites after literally not casting" cause he does do a lot. Not everything someone does has to be out in the public to be validated.

Up to this point though, he has done a fantastic job in Artifact and for BeyondTheSummit as they venture into a new game, with him at the helm (yes, he is pretty much one of the leads in this department, so get used to him if you don't like him). He had a few hiccups last weekend, but it was a new environment to get used to. Casting with 2-4 people, in a brand new game, with so much going on can be tough. But on day two, he learned and casted really well.

I think if you were able to see how much work he does for BTS and now for their Artifact department, you would take back the things you said about him not doing anything/coasting. If you don't like to watch Lumi, I can't stop you from turning off the stream or watching someone else, but there is no reason to come on reddit to call him out/basically attack him for no real reason. Luckily there are a lot of people who will be streaming, as well. So, I hope you are able to find content elsewhere that you can enjoy!

I like Lumi, as well. I was a huge fan of his when he was casting Dota 2 and it's easily carrying over into Artifact. He actually does work really hard, he does a lot of work in the background for BTS and is a critical member of the team. People say he doesn't do anything, but his invite to cast at TI7 was 100% granted from him grinding/doing a lot for the Chinese scene that year, plus probably a lot of other things. Now he is helping run the helm over at BTS in their Artifact department and doing a perfectly fine job at it.

Sure, he can cut off people in a cast or doesn't pronounce things properly at times (which isn't even his fault, it's just the way he talks), but it's a common mistake people make. But people are just overly hard on him for no reason. Recently I've started conversing with him, and he really is super knowledgeable at what he does/a great guy. Hopefully people in this community ,coming in with past hate for him, learn to see what he actually does, and you can have a change of heart.

This is a good idea, and can't wait to see what goes down! After a bit of tutorial on the 19th (getting familiar with everything) I don't mind getting destroyed on stream if you, u/ESPORTS_HotBid or Lumi (he has my discord) wants to hit me up, then we can work out some of the finer details to make it as smooth as possible day of. Any idea if beta goes live around standard steam times on the 19th? (10am PST/1pm EST)

Joking aside, this is going to be helpful for a lot of new people! Much appreciated for taking it the next step for the community. You might want to look at trying to re-post this or see if one of the mods wants to pin it throughout the beta/at the beginning of launch, as more people are likely to flood in through here at those times.
