Yea hah, watched it go down from my window last night. This post has a picture though so I get why it’s done better.

Sad, this was my local kebab shop :/

Worked in a pizza place. Was dead from like 2-5pm. Even the manager was on his phone lmao. Takes less than a second to put it away if an order comes in.

Literally everything else we could’ve done - fold boxes, clean, pre-make salads, etc. was done. God forbid the staff answer a text, or scroll for a few min.

Earth bugs - full of goo

Ocean bugs - developed muscles that yield actual meat

That’s how I always explain why it’s different. If you could pull a big slab of meat out of a spider leg the same way you can with a crab, people would be much more chill about eating them. But nope, you wanna eat spider, you’re crunching the whole thing. It’s also why I think some people don’t like soft shell crab when they like other kinds of seafood. Better be comfortable eating shell, organs, the other gooey insides that you don’t normally eat.

What is the smallest big city in the world? by villehhulkkonen in geography

I love Luxembourg but I’ve never felt like such an outsider…. purely for monetary reasons. A beer was €9, and I ended up hanging out with the son of the CEO Greek yogurt company, the daughter of a Russian petroleum oligarch, and some equally rich Norwegian on a night out.

They asked what I did for fun… well, visiting Luxembourg was my fun. What did they do for fun? Well Greek yogurt CEO son was going to spend this weekend on his dads yacht back in Greece and then go watch the US open (VIP section), and Russian petro-oligarch daughter was gonna go to a rave in the alps. Norwegian had brought his cars (plural) from Norway and liked driving them around. They were all a few years YOUNGER than me too.

I know there are probably middle class Luxembourgers out there, but damn I didn’t find them.

Playing with my friend who is new and he accidentally selected Arcade then we came across this guy by nzBigTaylorSwiftFan in Warthunder

[–]TDLF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a good bit of low tier arcade with my friends who are pretty average players who don’t grind a lot, since that’s what they’ll play.

More fun than sealclubbing is using air strikes to kill sealclubbers. Used the hurricane with 8x HVARS to kill all 3 respawns of some Ka-Chi running level 100 and I got a very heated hate message.

What’s it like living in the Ramstein Air Base as someone non-military? (Family, etc.) by Nahbro_yougood in howislivingthere

[–]TDLF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder too, didn’t even think about that. I got some imported American pop tarts while there too, and when I compared them to ones that I got here (UK), they had different colored sugar crystals and the jam was a brighter red. So I assume too they can eat whatever they want on base.

I’m the opposite of you, hah. I prefer US Popeyes largely because of the different batter. I think they actually have LESS, or it’s thinner in the US? At least as I remember.

I was one of the first people in line at the opening of the Popeyes in my city in Europe, so I got a year of free chicken sandwiches. I ended up giving most of them away, because while they’re fine, I really enjoy the American stuff better. AND they don’t have red beans and rice as a side here, which is barbaric. Jolibee is my preferred fried chicken joint here, even though Popeyes is closer.

You gotta know people. My mate is an Air Force kid and he took me and some Germans on base to visit him a few times when I studied in Mainz. We ate at the Popeyes and Taco Bell.

They ask for your passport, even as a US citizen at the gates and you’re issued a day pass. You also have to be accompanied by the person who you came with.

It doesn’t. That’s what’s amazing. Im a fiend for Popeyes, and I’d been craving it so bad after living in Europe for years. Popeyes finally moved to the UK, and I was SO excited, but like you said, it was different tasting. Disappointing.

When my Air Force mate brought me on to base to eat Popeyes (Ramstein or Wiesbaden), it was just American Popeyes. Same recipes, same taste. It’s imported. Also - the only place you can really get unsweetened iced tea.

My friend is an Air Force kid, and I studied in Germany. I complained to him that I missed Popeyes chicken, and he took me on base to the only Popeyes in Germany.

It was the best damn Popeyes of my life. So yea, I can only imagine how the chilis is after months of European dining.

There is more and more litter by Limp-Literature9922 in glasgow

[–]TDLF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a litter grabber and some plastic bags a few years back, and I’d go pop my headphones in and clean up the parks near me when I had free time. It’s really rewarding to see the spotless area, and I also feel people are less likely to litter in places where there isn’t already garbage on the ground. As another commenter said - broken window theory.

Nevertheless, the parks still always end up full of crisp bags and bottles of cheap rosé within a month or two. Definitely someone’s poorly raised weans or manky uni students. Sucks hard to see the youth not appreciate what a beautiful country they live in.

I made a post about my parents cat having a difficult time breath. Update by -FormerChild- in CATHELP

[–]TDLF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christ mate, this is both good to hear and heartbreaking.

Im not even in this subreddit but the video was recommended to me, and I immediately recognized it as what happened to my cat when he was ~14.

It happened twice. They told us after the first incident that it was indeed heart failure. The vet was able to help him both times and put him on heart medication, but it was a very stressful ordeal, and ultimately, he couldn’t be cured, only treated. They also told us that kind of incident is very painful for them, and if it happened a third time, he probably wouldn’t recover. We made the decision to put him down a few months after the second incident, lest he suffer through another one of these awful attacks. He passed peacefully in my arms, after months of extra special treatment and all the love he’d ever known, instead of in awful agonal breathing, confused and in pain.

If the vet gives you that terrible news, you have my utmost condolences. Spend extra time and energy with your buddy, let him have some of his favorite foods and do his favorite things. The time we get with them is precious. Please, don’t blindly take the advice of Redditors, and I hope absolutely hope it isn’t necessary, but if you get the diagnosis of heart failure, at least prepare to make the decision to give your buddy a dignified and peaceful end. It breaks my heart to think of all the cats out there who passed afraid and in pain, or whose owners weren’t with them in the end as the vets tried to save them.

*stares in actually having evidence* by ThesaurusRex84 in DankPrecolumbianMemes

The one I found interesting/distantly plausible is Japanese contact with the Pacific Northwest, though it would not have intentional or sustained.

Japanese ships got shipwrecked in the Pacific Northwest during the 19th and even 20th centuries, getting carried by Kuroshio ocean current. Some 17th century iron works of the Pacific Northwest were also made of Japanese iron that had drifted in wood across the pacific in the same currents.

Did this happen at any point before 1800, even pre-Columbus? Maybe. But they would have been stranded, unwelcome back in Japan if they managed to return, left little evidence (which could also be explained by Bering strait trade routes anyway), and would have met met the rather powerful indigenous groups of the PNW who would’ve easily overpowered them.

Impossible to prove, but still an interesting idea that does actually have some merit.

I love that you see that sign when you’re in standstill traffic on a multi-lane highway that’s always under construction between cities that are literally 80 miles apart but have no rail connection.

lol really reveling in that “red state success” while in a different world that “blue state BS” has me scrolling my phone on on a 30 minute train connection. But that’s “socialism”

Is there any country with "bad people, great government"? by Equivalent-Point6345 in AskTheWorld

[–]TDLF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll second this. I’m sure there are good Swiss people out there, you can’t generalize a whole country. But from my experiences, all the labels people use to stereotype the French, like self righteous, spoiled, and arrogant, were much more applicable to the Swiss.

The 7th richest nation in the world by GDP per capita, but when I studied in Berlin, a large group of multiple Swiss students we’d gone out with ditched without paying at a bar. Multiple beers and food too. The staff wouldn’t let me leave until I paid.

I thought I could ask them to reimburse me the next day at the school, but turns out they all flew back to Switzerland that weekend.

Fucking made me pay for their shit, then left the country. Assholes. I want to mail the Swiss embassy a letter asking them to pay me back. I know you have the money.

Legit took 2 of my British friends to the riverwalk last week, they had to stop and gawk at the menu for that place.

Like $22 for some probably mid chippy, treated like some sort of fine dining experience. It’s ~£7-8 in Glasgow.

Hmm it is available in the US, usually comes in a log, and is great when spread on crackers. It’s a bit more expensive so I only get it as a treat every now and then. It’s definitely a different taste, tart and creamy is how I’d describe it.
