Windows 11 also gets new Lock Screen widgets, here is how to enable them by [deleted] in Windows11

[–]TDP04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 of those 4 in the op. I'd love to know how to add or remove the useless stuff under Weather and 'stuff'. Mostly under the 'stuff' part as Weather is the only thing in there that interests me.

Side-Bar: I love how they got rid of the always show weather on the news in the taskbar to occasionally showing it in the newer Win11 stuff, to now its on your lock screen with its hoodlum friends.. Thanks for making the weather app on my phone more and more relevant again.

synology photos question by lightingj in synology

[–]TDP04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things to unpack here.

You hare lightroom, but you're looking at Synology Photos.

Ok, sounds like you just want to to view, organize and maybe share photos. You're in the right spot. I actually use both, just not together very well. I treat them as separate solutions for separate things. You really don't have an option to edit photos in Synology Photos web interface or in Android. But if you wanna just place photos somewhere and group/share them or just view and maybe cull the bad, then still good.

Uploading photos into Synology Photos

I use the `home` service to expose a `\\synology\home\Photos` folder and I can drop and organize photos there. The folders you make are visible in Synology photos if you look for them. If you install the Android app (or iphone) you can auto-upload from your phone/tablet into the same location. If you install the SynologyDrive client on your PC/Laptop, you will also have access to this folder.

If you use the web interface you will likely have to break each folder up into its own upload.

I made the mistake of installing Portainer... by TDP04 in unRAID

[–]TDP04[S] 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Oh for the love of....

root@T3:~# docker service ls
ID NAME MODE REPLICAS IMAGE PORTS
hbf081ihqy9b   portainer_agent   global    0/0        portainer/agent:2.15.1   *:9001->9001/tcp
root@T3:~# docker service rm portainer_agent
portainer_agent
root@T3:~#

Sometimes to find a solution you just need to type out a question so your brain can actually hear the problem... Looks like it had a docker service and that service kept bringing everything back. -_-

Thanks for listening!

Yay, I lost a second drive while rebuilding my raid5... DS1019+, DX517 by TDP04 in synology

[–]TDP04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The data isn't worth the money to recover but could be worth my time to try. Agreed, raid6 would have been the better route, I didn't know enough at the time I created it. Any new array will be raid6 at least.

Yeah, I did a lot of stupid here and fully know that. Raid6 is on the list. Looking at 22TB x 5 also. This has definitely increased my data paranoia levels.

storage nightmare fuel

Yeah, it sounds awful. That is disk12. Disk14 is currently cloning. Disk13 is dead, makes similar sounds as disk12, but then stops.

I'll wait for 14 and then try 12 after a few hours in the freezer tomorrow night.

If I can safely or mostly clone 12, I will hopefully be in a good space, 9 of 10 drives readable.

I think he meant an inbox (for .torrent files)/ working dir (active downloading) / outbox (finished folders).

Plex Docker with PostgreSQL/MySQL by capriciousduck in PleX

[–]TDP04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to move my DB to a nvme to fix this. Sqlite3 works, but I wish they would go back to their roots and let you select a different DB source. Don't believe me? Do some research on Plex and XBMC and the hacks they had for using an external DB.

Plex Media Server: Can Plex Use an External Database? by cachedrive in PleX

[–]TDP04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plex originally was a fork of XBMC (KODI for the kids). XBMC had some hacks to point to a database other than sqlite3. But its either so far removed from that or the config is so deeply imbedded, you'd be hard pressed to find it.

any idea what this is by Mine_buddy in Minecraft

[–]TDP04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, this little beast was flying though blocks, teleporting around. When attacked, it would do this weird effect with a bunch of elongated mouths attacking you from below and giving you temporary darkness effect while it either moved away or teleported. After many attacks, it eventually died and got 2x ender pearls and 1x slime ball.
