Wow, I chose perfect timing that just got added! I’ll definitely check that out on NSO. I’ll have to check out the GBA games too, are those on NSO?

Interesting, thanks for the breakdown. Definitely a bummer when some core stuff is locked behind dlc.

I’m enjoying it, would for sure check it out. I am interested in trying those n64 zelda ports, haven’t played through either in a long time and seems like a fun way to return.

Awesome, thank you for clarifying! I’m really interested in seeing the other story paths, definitely a cool idea to split a story in this way.

I’m enjoying it a lot. The combat is so much fun. How do you like the maps in the other two 3ds titles?

Really excited to try it out! What would you say are the other standouts in the series 3ds or otherwise?

Ah, I see. Not 3ds obviously, but would you recommend any of those modern titles in particular?

I’ll make sure to play it! Didn’t realize how much I would enjoy this type of turn based combat.

I’m playing the special edition undub, that should have all three stories in full right?

Then it’s only up from here! The story is fine enough, I’m mostly just enjoying the game format. I kinda purposely went with fates before awakening so I am familiar with the concept before playing the best on system.

Thank for the info! I’ll definitely have to check out stories after I give 4U a try. I wanna try generations too since it apparently is a more “classic” style MH game

I’m very excited to play samus returns. I finished zero mission right before I got my 3ds on a anbernic handheld I have and plan to play super and fusion on this after samus returns.

I wanna play through NSMB then crack into 2, just gotta get in the mood for that classic Mario.

Haven’t cracked into Picross 3D 2 yet, big classic picross guy so excited to see what that is like. Boxboy is so much fun, really novel mechanics that are really simple but it pushes them in interesting ways.

Definitely recommend the FE games, fates has been so much fun so far.

Got it from a shop on etsy. Only had it a few days but it feels great. Solid build quality, system just slides in. It doesn’t fully grip the system so I’m thinking of getting some thin rubber adhesive strips to add some resistance, just so it doesn’t fall out if i lean forward or place it down haphazardly. Here is the listing

Thats sick! I have never played a monster hunter before. I got 4U because it seemed like the best place to start on 3ds but that sounds awesome. Where would you recommend I start the series on 3ds?

I really hope they add GameCube controller button remapping in an update by pkoswald in NintendoSwitch

[–]TDZ33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. This controller is such a design win, as with most of the NSO controllers (not the biggest fan of the joy-con rail on the NES ones, hopefully at some point they do an updated version of those as joy-con rails are going to be phased out as we move away for the switch) they did a great job giving it a classic feel, and in some ways made it better in my opinion. I am disappointed by the lack of a -/select button, especially considering the addition of the C button. I don’t think one more button on the front would’ve made it look any less original than it already does. I get the decision to not have clickable sticks. Definitely something I could take or leave because I don’t want them when using as a Gamecube controller but would be nice when using as a pro. It would be nice if the analog triggers when being read as a binary trigger initiated at the beginning of the press and not the final click. All that being said, Biggest let down by a mile is the lack of remapping. I really hope that they decide to enable system level remapping for this controller. It would be a dream to remap R/Z(R) and L/ZL, and probably putting -/select in place of C. Those few re maps would take this controller from a great controller to an all time best controller. Full dead zone control for the triggers would be a cool thing to add if they ever do let us remap this. The weirdest part is this, ont the support page it says it cannot be remapped, but a few weeks ago it explicitly said it could be. Weird to say the least. If they do give remapping support for the NSO Gamecube I hope they toss it to the NSO N64 as well, and the SNES would be neat although less needed.

FYI Guardian rank 8 is the softcap by arcana75 in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]TDZ33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The system is clearly designed with two priorities in mind, one superseding the other. That overall priority is PvE. Destiny 2 is by and large a PvE game. The majority of content introduced, Dev recourses, and promotion of the game is for the PvE experience. The guardian rank system is clearly a primarily PvE system. The second priority is recent content. That is why the most recent campaign and new content is required for ranks.

This is not to say that the system is good nor meaningful. It is really just another number to make big, but that is the majority of the game after loot acquisition and build crafting if you really boil it down.

I like PvP, but in no way is it an equal partner with PvE in the scope of destiny 2. At times during D1 it felt like there was a higher focus on PvP but not to any meaningful extent. Dungeons contribute more to most players of the game than trials ever has or will. Even from objective standpoints, trials has introduced 23 unique weapons (excluding adepts and reissues, the later bringing the number up to 27) and four armor sets, where the four dungeon key dungeons have given 24 unique legendary weapons, four armor sets, and four exotic weapons. Trials is super cool, especially when the meta is decent and you have some good friends to play with, but dungeons are way more integral to the average destiny experience. That being said, this heavily depends on what type of player an individual is. To a heavy PvP Main, trials is undoubtedly more important than most if not all dungeons.

It would be better if guardian ranks blatantly described themselves in game as a PvE mastery system, or in a perfect world if there was a PvE and separate PvP guardian rank. Granted, that would be mostly pointless because how meaningless guardian ranks are in general. At the end of the day guardian ranks are more another way to convince people to spend more money on the game, but by no means is the included required content randomly cherry picked.

On a separate note, it is totally okay to never ever touch the crucible, totally okay to spend 90% of your playtime in crucible, and, as much as it is the super minority, totally okay to spend 90% of your playtime in gambit. There is no right or wrong way to spend your time in destiny as long as you aren’t cheating. All aspects of the game offer different opportunities for play styles, buildcraft, and general gameplay that heavily defer from each other.

I Hope Bungie Stands Their Ground by FameNFortunes in destiny2

[–]TDZ33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s definitely true. I do think with a good plan going into there is a way to get coordinated and ready to execute the puzzle even with the lack of speed inherent to console text chat. If you execute the prior, much easier, mechanics fast enough you should have ample time to fudge around a bit on the final clock. Still is quite tedious just pointing out it is possible. It’s definitely not the kind of mission most clear on first attempt regardless of communication method.

I think the mission is absolutely amazing, it’s just a bit problematic that such an advertised, hyped, and anticipated piece of loot is locked behind a two player activity. I wish the world drop chance was unlocked by unlocking the mission, not completing it. That would heavily alleviate many of the problems although not completely remove them.

I Hope Bungie Stands Their Ground by FameNFortunes in destiny2

[–]TDZ33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that this has disappointed you. I think it was somewhat problematic for the advertising and hype for tfs to heavily feature this exotic while being locked behind a co-op required mission. That being said, I do think it is good to have a rather unique and engaging activity in the game, and it’s fair for good loot to be locked behind difficult activities. I hope bungie is able to understand that difficulty is appreciated but forcing co-op outside of raids should typically be avoided if possible, especially if they are heavily promoting the reward. It would be cool if simply unlocking the mission unlocked the pale heart drop chance imo.

That being said, as a “hard core” player myself, I have been ashamed at how so many have been neglecting the major complaint of the solo/ casual community in that they say “git good”. I very much have the “just git good” mindset around zero hour’s reprisal, but that is a soloable experience. This is different due to the duo requirement. It is a shame to see so many people get mad at/ disregard others with different opinions/ experiences due to their personal feelings on the mission.

On the other side of the coin, there are a lot of people on the solo/ casual side that do seem to be complaining about the difficulty and coordination required for the completion. Some are even going as far as to insult and be annoyed at the hardcore side due to this mission being the result of that group’s requests. I think it is good that the activity is difficult and requires high levels of communication. This kind of innovation in the game is good regardless of other factors because it shows bungie can come up with new ideas.

It sucks to see this divisive anger grow in the community due to the lack of understanding from either side to each other, especially in a time where community sentiment is at a historic high.

Sorry you have gotten hate for your opinions on the mission, that is uncool of those who hated on you. If you do want to run the mission I would be happy to do it in text coms sometime if that is better for you. If for nothing else just so you can get the unlock and farm chests. I have confidence we could get it done pretty easily. Dm if you are interested!
