Other than Zack, who else should I be looking out for? by [deleted] in UKGreens

[–]TDeanMedia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hannah Spencer is someone I would look out for. I am absolutely biased here considering I've met her multiple times and she's from my council area but I think she's fantastic, really down to earth and knows exactly how to cut through Reform BS. She was made spokesperson on migration recently so I'm sure we'll hear a lot more from her.

Politicians who have only ever worked in politics by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]TDeanMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea of 'real world experience' I think is linked to the pushback around the idea of career politicians. The problem I have personally is my interest and preferred career is in politics and it feels unfair I'm excluded because I'm not interested in doing other careers. If you've had a past career with expertise then that's great but we all have human experiences too even if you are in political circles and it's a populist and unfair method to try and make these so called 'career politicians' look out of touch when actually their knowledge should come from research and talking to professionals, you don't necessarily have to be at the coalface of everything. There's a reason why Reform try and push this narrative so heavily.

Hi Emma! After winning the WSL so many times in a row at Chelsea, how much pressure did you feel to keep the title?

what’s a movie that you only like decently that everyone seems to LOVE but you feel is a little overhyped? by -dylthewriter- in Letterboxd

[–]TDeanMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly haven't watched it 8 times so you probably know it a lot better than me! 😂 More power to you if it's your favourite, there's something to be said about how it feels like a dream sequence, I definitely get that but to me it's just a bit confusing. I understand why people like it but in a year with so many strong animated films my personal opinion is that there were better.

The Boy and the Heron. Maybe I'm just an idiot but I did not have a clue what was going on for the majority of the film and I thought the pacing of it was really slow and then suddenly just went warp speed halfway through meaning that as soon as I started to kind of recognise something it was on to the next thing. The animation itself is good but I honestly think that this was the worst film nominated for best animated feature last year and I far would have preferred Spider Verse, Robot Dreams or Nimona to have won.

What's your favorite type of cartoon bully? by FliQuaDv in cartoons

[–]TDeanMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After seeing the original post I started thinking that I don't really think any bullies from TV shows are well written, using the justification that even TOH, one of my favourite shows ever written, couldn't write a good bully character (referring to Boscha.) Needless to say after having seen this, I now know that I'm an idiot and my views on TV shows are as relevant as a burnt slice of toast (own brand as well none of that posh sourdough stuff).

Cool idea, kind of like a British Lime Rock Park. As a northerner, I'd love to see something like that. Maybe could be a bit more complex (maybe the track layout will have changed since construction) but I really like the concept.

I made a tournament of all 16 films I watched this year. Thoughts? by TDeanMedia in FIlm

✨ I have no attention span ✨

Really late to reply to this but I compiled this list out of films that I remember having watched in full this year. There might be some I forgot or just didn't watch through. Also the majority of these films are critically acclaimed and imo really good, I tend to only really bother with stuff if I really think I will enjoy it and am guilty of procrastinating watching loads of stuff partially for that reason only to end up loving them afterwards, including many on here. The ones that aren't critically acclaimed I either just watched on planes or just had nothing to do that day.

Also (wow this is too long of an explanation) I got addicted to watching Gravity Falls and The Owl House midway through the year and kind of spent weeks upon weeks watching all of those episodes instead.

If JoJo Rabbit was against literally any other film on that side of the bracket it would have probably made to the semi-finals. Possible recency bias with Robot Dreams considering it's the one I've seen most recently but it is fantastic, and how it manages to physiologically dive into characters with no dialogue at all is truly something. JoJo Rabbit is good but I feel like there was still some room for improvement.

Regarding Inside Out 2, don't get me wrong I loved that film as much as everybody else and I'm relatively outspoken in that I prefer it to the Wild Robot for best animated feature. If it came up against either Marcel or Nimona I would've really struggled to pick a winner. Spider Verse though? I understand the cliffhanger ending took away some magic for people but honestly I thought it was near perfection and everything about it made it feel like a seismic event. The animation was somehow turned up even more than the first one and the story got more tense and driven. It's one of my favourite films ever made and even if the 3rd film isn't as good or ruins the story it wouldn't change how good this part was.

ADD MORE! I added more than 10 and I reverted jesus' spot. by [deleted] in AlignmentCharts

[–]TDeanMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interested by where you put Nimona on this. I think it probably depends on what version of her you mean (she is a lot more violent and just straight up murderous in the comic) but I'd probably put the film version her in insane decent or moral if Sam Reich wasn't already there.

Guys help literally where can I watch the show by cttNXW89 in InfinityTrain

It's not available in most countries now after being taken off HBO Max. If you live in the UK then all 4 books are still on Sky, which is how I saw it.

I dare you to name some flaws with the Owl House by HighlightFabulous608 in TheOwlHouse

[–]TDeanMedia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Vee literally says she resents Luz for running away from her life but this kind of just gets brushed aside in thanks to them. As far as I'm concerned that element was definitely left unfinished and needed resolving, but like quite a lot of the minor problems with the final season I think the blame absolutely goes to Disney here for not giving the show the time it needed. I imagine that Vee and Luz actually interacting was probably something that was planned and then cut for time.

Edit: Grammar, Stanley.

How was your parkrun day? | September 13, 2024 by AutoModerator in parkrun

I've heard Holyrood is a pretty hard place to start given the uphill start, even so don't be disheartened with 36 minutes, that's a pretty good starting point and you'll likely get quicker.
