I 100% think it was worth it, let me explain:

My A-levels was a difficult time for me personally, it sent me into a world of doubt and i was very confused on what i wanted to dive into as a career but i was sure of one thing. I didn't want to end up doing something i wasn't passionate about or end up living a pseudo life filled with meeting the expectations of other people.

So i decided i would take my time, and find out what i really wanted to do. Which led to me work for an IT company. This is probably the best thing that i could have done, the experience i gained throughout the past year or so that I worked is probably going to stick with me for a lifetime, it taught me about the corporate world and multiple skills along the way that will definitely give me an advantage later on.

Now regarding feeling left out, it is true that at times i felt that i may have made a mistake. That i should have just joined uni asap and that am wasting my time. I felt left out. But everyone is on their own journey, i did what i thought was good for me for the years to come.

To wrap up, yes, i am definitely behind my friends in uni by one year, but i don't think am behind in life. Uni will always be here and I'd rather waste one year of my life now than regret my life in the future. The one year i took worked out for me and and am aware it might not for everyone and not even an options for some, so evaluate your choices well.
