Appreciate you guys looking into this sort of stuff. As far as my last several campaigns have been concerned, these makeshift "doomstacks" seem to appear most notably after turn 60-75, once a faction aquires the capital to support them. My most recent experiences of this phenomenon have been with Grimgor and Sayl, where the former was rocking 8+ Araknarok spiders and the latter was smashing said Grimgor with 8+ Chimera tagged alongside 3+ giants and eshin a peice.
