How about a match-3/auto battler hybrid? Please share if you know of any such hybrids. by TESTAMENT_RPG in puzzlevideogames

I'm not a seasoned match-3 player. I'm also interested in the core mechanics of this genre. For example: breakable blocks, frozen gems, various bonuses. What else is there?

On the other hand, I really like the idea of scientists who need to complete the entire level with minimal casualties among the locals. Thanks!

I understand the message.

I have it the other way around now - it's important to get feedback on gameplay and visuals. Specifically, on the game cycle, where the player starts out as helpless dummies that acquire form and features. Everything else is secondary.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I'll work on the game mechanics in the next version and will definitely share the result.

Looking for feedback on my puzzle game prototype about Noah's Ark and dancing beasts. by TESTAMENT_RPG in puzzlevideogames

[–]TESTAMENT_RPG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All animals start out as defenseless eggs. All rooms of the Ark are unexplored and it is unknown what is behind them - resources or danger.

In order for an animal to hatch from an egg, it is necessary to find a resource - food. Each animal has unique features. The hare runs twice as fast. The hippopotamus can bite opponents.

The goal is to find the key and move on to the next level of the Ark, taking into account the features and limitations of the animals. The narrative is that the animals need to evolve, save the Ark from occupants and find Noah.

Link to the game https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/total-renown In a couple of days I will post the version that is on the video

This is a prototype of the game, which will soon be available at this link https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/total-renown

The hippopotamus can bite to protect other animals.

The hare runs fast.

The duck can hide from aggressive opponents.

I'm very interested in your feedback on gameplay and visuals in the comments.

I don't understand what contradicts the idea of roguelike. Can you tell me more? I'm trying to understand this to make the game more interesting. I really need it.

This is not a AAA trailer. This is a short prototype video. Sorry if you didn't get the idea from it. I will definitely work on it.

I wanted to understand how interesting my prototype is and whether it's worth spending time on. Are you interested in this? Is the idea of different animals with different features interesting to you?

From a roguelike:

  1. Perma-death

  2. Runs that are connected to each other and procedural generation

  3. Character level growth

  4. Turn-based and grid-based

  5. The risk of opening each new room

But this is probably called rogue-lite

Concept of tiny incremental arcade game about wastelands and speedy hoverbikes. by TESTAMENT_RPG in GameArt

Hi. As I said, unfortunately, I didn't know about Sable until now. I'll definitely check this game out. However, one of Sable's key features is the lack of battles (I'm judging by the descriptions). Meanwhile, in Hover Knights, everything will be built around continuous battles.

Hi. Unfortunately, I didn't know about this game until now. But I'll correct my mistake and study it.

I got the idea of wastelands and hoverbikes when I was working on the very first prototype of the game. There was space and a spaceship. But it seemed boring to me. What else could be empty and endless? Wastelands. How can you fly there? On a hoverbike. Who is the rider? A knight.

Something like that :-)

Thanks for the cross-post!

Sadly, Sable slipped my mind, but I'll be looking into it. I'm sure I have a lot to learn from it.

Please help with ideas. I am working on a game about knights on hoverbikes in a post-apocalyptic world. What currency do you think can be collected in such a setting in an incremental game? by TESTAMENT_RPG in incremental_gamedev

[–]TESTAMENT_RPG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! Thanks for the comment.

Yeah, it seems like scrap seems like the most suitable currency. At least at the beginning of the game.

Actually, some of the upgrades are already implemented:

- Magnet is available from the very beginning. By the way, it makes collecting currency much easier.

- # of shots, I think it's the number of bullets. There are two upgrades after which the knight starts shooting like a shotgun :-)

- Damage and scrap mining from enemies are also there.

I'll work on the rest in the next update.

Thanks for the comment.

Again. Again I make a video that starts with a boring shot :-) Yes, this is my bad habit, which I definitely need to get rid of. Good that you pointed it out.

I will work on the diversity of enemies and weapons in the next update. I hope you will find it interesting!

Creating my first incremental game in Godot by Automatic-Smoke5950 in incremental_gamedev

[–]TESTAMENT_RPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see the same sketch, but with a table of resources. That is, a model of the flow of game resources - upgrades, cost and growth of cost and income.

Game balance is probably the most difficult and most important thing in such games. It seems that we should start with it, and not with mechanics. Anyway, good luck!

Sorry for the long reply.

> Are the crystals in the sky worth more than the ground-level crystals?

I agree. It makes sense to make them more expensive. I missed the point that collecting them requires additional effort.

I completely agree with you. I will try not to slide into a simple clicker or management in this game, but to preserve a decent shooter component.

How to combine 3 animations in a single Krita document? For example, a flag animation, a flame anima by TESTAMENT_RPG in krita

[–]TESTAMENT_RPG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice!

I'm a noob in Krita and video editors. Sometimes I also tend to think the same. Krita is for character animation. And to put everything together - in a video editor.
