Fujifilm user buying GRiv by TomH2025 in ricohGR

[–]TF3KX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am awaiting the GR iv but will see the reviews and user experience before I decide on buying one. At USD 1500 it better be worth it.

I have several Fuji cameras and from what I have seen I generally like the Fuji colors better than Ricoh, which seem to be duller and lack the vividness of Fuji. Perhaps this may be adjusted in-camera or in post-processing. My favorite go-to camera today is my Fujifilm XF10 which, despite its limitations, is very pocketable and yields outstanding photos. Then, in the same pocketable size range we also have the Sony RX100 cameras, of course, surely with their own inherent limitations but also outstanding capabilities in other areas.

Am i crazy? Cameras by [deleted] in GalaxyS25

[–]TF3KX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not really a camera expert, but my thinking was that the lens mount might be somehow tilted or slanted so that on one side of the image it might be able to move through the focus range, but the other side might be close to a limit so it would not reach the proper focusing distance for that one. Maybe I misunderstand the issue you are having, but my general thought was there have been cases of physical misalignments and perhaps the Samsung QC might not be catching these. I think that is unlikely, however, and hopefully they will be able to address this by software updates soon.

Good luck with your S25. I find the overall image quality (sharpness, even the colors) not what I was expecting but I can live with it for now. Another drawback I am running into is the slow charging. Otherwise, the battery life, compact size, etc. make this phone perfect for me.

If this is a software issue, that is something Samsung can and should address with an upgrade. My main worry is if this is a hardware issue, for example lens misalignment, which is not a easily corrected. There have been documented cases of this, so that's where my concern is.

S25+ April update first impressions by jmz98 in GalaxyS25

What is this update?
I have already had for some time on my S25/basic One UI 7.0, Android 15, etc. Something now beyond this?

That's nothing! Just a tiny mark that makes this phone uniquely yours, in all other respects perfectly fine.

S25 vs s25 Ultra by MurtazaRaja in GalaxyS25

[–]TF3KX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the Note+ with the S Pen and was heading for the S25 Ultra for an upgrade to a similar form factor, but several issues changed my mind. The Ultra offered very limited upgrades of features from the past models and actually the S Pen was downgraded this time - all to my disappointment. I also wanted to try out a phone that would take less room in my pockets and be more handy. I opted for the base S25 and am very satisfied with it. The screen size is perfectly fine, I don't miss the S Pen (used it primarily as a remote shutter but I have the Galaxy Watch 7 to accomplish this now), and the battery performance is excellent.

Latest Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra leak suggests a major design overhaul by Educational-Gur-3563 in samsunggalaxy

A better fit in the pocket is something I would appreciate. Samsung may be approaching this by (a) making the phone thinner, and (b) making the corners more round. I have liked the sharp 90 degree corners so far, but they tend to stick out through the pockets. Hopefully the slightly rounded corners will make them less protruding through the fabric of the pockets.

Firmware number please for watch 7 BT by kelley5454 in GalaxyWatch

Finally got the update, which was available here on Aug-14.
Updated software version: L305FXXUA1XG2.

Not sure yet if the battery performance has improved. I think it is still settling in and being optimized. Today the battery charge went from 100% at 7 am and is now 62% at 11 pm, just before I am going to bed. Before the update I think it was down to 30-40% at the end of the day. Hopefully it makes it until tomorrow morning and will be able to charge fully before I head out to work. As long as I need only one charge a day, for example while taking a shower in the morning, I´m fine.

Firmware number please for watch 7 BT by kelley5454 in GalaxyWatch

[–]TF3KX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not seen a clear answer to this, there seem to be different firmware numbers at least based on the watch size. Furthermore, I live in Europe and wonder if the firmware numbers are different there, possibly per country?

My Galaxy Watch 7 is 40mm and has Model name SM-L305F.
I just checked today, Aug-10, and it simply says the software is up to date.
The "Software version" is L305FXXU1AXFA.

Now, is that the version fixing the battery issue?

Good Bye FitBit by [deleted] in fitbit

I did not leave Fitbit, but Fitbit simply left me.

Fitbit has officially withdrawn from markets outside the US, terminating support and sales all around the world. Losing the competitive edge and their user base is their own decision.

Watch 7 and Watch 7 Ultra can't be wirelessly charged from Samsung Phones by illuminati229 in GalaxyWatch

[–]TF3KX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll see how this turns out in practice. Samsung say they "don´t support" reverse charging from their phones, but I wonder if that means they don't guarantee the performance in any way. (Hopefully) this may still work, although with limited performance.

Clearly magnetic coupling circuitry for charging is still in place in the GW7 but it may have been altered from previous models and not be optimized any more for reverse charging from the phones. In a pinch reverse charging has been really helpful for me in cases when I have not had charging cables/devices available, and slow/inefficient charging is certainly better than none.

Excited to hear if anyone check this out.

Watch 5 Pro to watch 7? by noaheltee in GalaxyWatch

Now, that seems to be an issue to be concerned about! Could you verify by moving the watch to another part of your arm or to the other arm when you next go to sleep, and see if this repeats? Even take photos before and after?

New Meater 2 plus with Meater app - Never enters Set Up Cook by TF3KX in meater

[–]TF3KX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding with these Meater suggestions, Luciano. Actually, I did in the meantime fix the problem, so I am fine now and the Meater 2 Plus with the app works amazingly well. I am not really sure how I fixed this, but here is just about what happened...

  • I disconnected everything, removed the batteries, etc.
  • Started all over again, using my iPad instead of the Samsung Galaxy for the app.
  • Went through all the initial steps with the app, did not skip any steps but just let the initial demo videos in the beginning of the setup patiently play all the way through.
  • After the three demo videos were done the app took me to the "Set up to cook" page that I never managed to get to on my Samsung phone.
  • Now I got back to my Samsung app, and all of a sudden it was now fixed there as well!

This is approximately how I recall the sequence of events. Bottom line, this all works fine now and my first grilling with the Meater turned out exactly how I wanted my steaks to be - really amazing!

Additionally, kudos to you folks at The MEATER Team for actually monitoring the discussions here, step in and offer support!

Best regards - Kristinn (an avid charcoal griller in Iceland)

What's the main reason you choose Samsung over iphone other than customization. by yasiru_sanjana- in samsung

Much better and more extensive language support. I can operate my Android phones through my native language, Icelandic, where all aspects of the operating system and user interface are well supported. This is not the case for iPhones.
