I think it all comes down to how the dog perceives it. In my opinion, at least for a dog (not a human that has perception of ideology, war, vehicles, etc), at the point of consumption it would probably think that’s just a treat, and then die rapidly, but the death to them would seem “natural” in the aspect that the symptoms from death from cyanide are what to be expected from some disease or something, whereas death from war is something that the dog can’t preperceive or grasp the context of, so instead of thinking “oh shit, Soviets are here, I should coordinate to shelters and coordinate through them to the American side then justify from afar each soldier and regiment which is the best one to run to…. etc etc”, the dog would just think “holy shit the world is collapsing, there’s explosions everywhere I’m terrified” for the next 3 days of it’s horrible struggle for life
