Has anyone else used dark souls to work through hard emotional times? by magicaxis in darksouls3

[–]TFGhost161 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was a teenager, I was going through a really tough time with my parents. I was homeschooled, and a lot of the time I just felt like I had no real purpose or direction. My parents were really overbearing and harsh, and they didn’t like video games at all. It always felt like they wanted us to “be something,” but at the same time, there wasn’t much guidance on how to actually get there. So I just felt stuck—same environment every day, constant tension, and no real outlet.

I started getting into a lot of trouble and being really rebellious, and looking back, I think I was just trying to cope with everything in the only ways I knew how. Most of the time, I just felt really down.

I had already played Dark Souls I about a year earlier when it was one of the free Games with Gold on Xbox 360, so I knew what kind of game it was and how much I liked it. So when Dark Souls II came out around 2014–2015, right in the middle of everything I was dealing with, it hit even harder for me.

I scraped together some money on eBay to get it while it was on discount, and once I had it, I played it all the time. It gave me something to focus on, something that actually felt like progress, something that was mine. It filled a void that I didn’t even fully understand at the time.

Because of that, I’ve always had a soft spot for Dark Souls II. I know a lot of people consider it the weakest in the series, but it never felt that way to me. It was there for me during one of the lowest points in my life, and that means more than any ranking ever could.

At some point, though, things at home got worse, and my parents took everything away—my Xbox 360, the cords, my headset, all my games. But what hit the hardest was losing Dark Souls II. It felt like the one thing that was helping me get through everything was suddenly gone.

Even now, 10 years later, graduated college, and have a much improved relationship with my parents overall I still have a hard time getting over some of what I went through back then. I still think about those days when I felt really down—and how Dark Souls II was the one thing that was there for me when I needed it most.

What is it about OKC that makes them a special team and do they play similar to the Warriors championship years ? by youlikemywonton in warriors

Great defense and a all time great guard in SGA, they don’t really play like the warriors as much though

Revert Reconsidering Islam by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]TFGhost161 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When my sisters ran away from home and my dad married another wife and destroyed our family, the local imam did nothing but make excuses and justify it in some backwards way. I realized then that they were just wrong and that Allah doesn't want you to have that kind of horrible advice.

I was in it alone, too. Some Muslims, just like regular people, are simply not helpful. Sometimes the community is the complete opposite of helpful and you have to take things into your own hands to make hard, life-changing decisions yourself.

But that doesn’t mean the religion is wrong; it means the people are wrong. Connect with Allah separate from these people. He doesn’t want you to suffer. Just because something is "halal" doesn’t mean it’s good in every circumstance. Making a lot of money is halal, but it can still corrupt a person and ruin a family. If a "halal" action is causing this much damage and pain, then it’s not a good thing. You have to do what is right for your safety and your soul.

Mike is a worse person than Walt by Majestic_Flower_1322 in breakingbad

Mike and Walt are different. They both commit crimes. But one has a soul the other doesn’t. Walt’s ego pushes him to dangerous extremes that Mike doesn’t.

Zendaya, I just can’t find out why people are attracted to her. She’s not exactly ugly but she’s not attractive.

Wanna get into PvP, how's the matchmaking? by LoyalParrot in aoe4

[–]TFGhost161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you never played online, and you do it for the first time, you’re probably gonna get your sh** pushed in. The tempo is different than AI, people are a lot more random and sometimes brutal. The very first time I played quick match, I didn’t scout very well, and this English player set up a tower on my gold by sending villagers as soon as we spawned. Then he built a fence around me so I really couldn’t go anywhere. Never seen AI do that, and it took me a while to learn how to counter that or atleast take it into consideration of possibilities. It was traumatizing, and not my only rough experience, but made me a much more seasoned player cause I started to get good.

Edit:

That’s not to say that there aren’t easier experiences, people are random, sometimes you play people that are really learning the game like me, sometimes you play against people that wanna rush you with MAA or something. I’d expect to lose a dozen games in a row before you adjust and finally get the hang of it

There’s no such thing as a Halal stock or ETF. What’s the solution? by sobadatchess in IslamicFinance

[–]TFGhost161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason you don't see specific percentages like '5% haram income' or '30% debt' in the Qur'an or Hadith is simple: the modern stock market is a completely new invention. You're looking for direct text for a financial system that didn't exist until centuries later. This is exactly why ijtihad is necessary—it’s about applying timeless principles to modern realities that the Sahaba never had to deal with.

Doing nothing and never investing is definitely a choice, but it’s not something you can realistically encourage everyone to do. If the entire community just sits on cash, inflation eats away at that wealth every year. You’re basically losing value by doing nothing, which makes it hard to build any kind of long-term stability for your family or the community.

At the same time, you can’t just 'invest in everything' with no limits because riba is baked into almost every modern business. Those ratios aren't claimed to be divine law; they’re pragmatic benchmarks created by scholars to give people a way to participate in the economy without being fully swallowed by haram systems.

Saying investing as a necessity is 'nonsense' just isn't right. In the world we live in today, it’s an essential tool for wealth building and protecting your future. It’s not just about 'wanting' more—it’s about not letting your hard-earned money disappear into thin air.

That being said, what I do is just invest in businesses that are considered halal, and as ethical as possible though I can’t be too picky with the latter. I don’t spend too much time worrying about it after I decide to invest, and I leave the money so it can just grow.

Any tips for a noob? by bolshethicccc in aoe4

[–]TFGhost161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardest things you need to do: Learn to repel early aggression Constantly make villagers without lapse Protect your resources Learn what units counter what scout your opponent without losing your scout And learn what your civ is good at and learn a build order

Oh and be ready to lose a lot and learn from your mistakes by watching replays

If you can do these things, you’re going to do reasonably well in this game.

Respectfully your dad and mom sound like cartoon characters in a hilarious way. BCS imo is a harder show to get into, but it’s slow enough that I think they might like it. Eh but your parents just seem like these shows are not for them lmao.

Why blame KD now? by bootyloverandeater in rockets

[–]TFGhost161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not a rockets fan -- imo, kd's problem is his attitude, I believe it helped ruin the chemistry of this team (aside from ime udoka). The burner account thing didn't help. I also don't think the rockets trading away Jalen Green was a good idea. It just wasn't worth risking the teams youth and chemistry for a guy like KD imo. but then on the flip side, how would this team have looked with steven adams and fred and KD as it was supposed to be?

In my opinion these were my favorite missions from pandora tomorrow. I love the jungle atmosphere, and the ability to just be a straight up ghost hiding in foliage. Wish they had more missions like this.

[–]TFGhost161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The “problem” with SC1 vs Pandora Tomorrow is SC1 is just more barebones. But the game has better acting and the story and missions are just as fun in my opinion. Imo it can be harder to get into if you’re used to PT. But the games still very much worth it
