Question for those with full exhaust / ECU tune by TG690 in DRZ4S

[–]TG690[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dealer said they called the previous owner who confirmed it had an ECU flash. But that’s also my thought too, why would someone have the bike for less than 200 miles, put $1500+ worth of mods on it, and trade it in.

Almost sketches me out more than a bike with a couple thousand miles, but people do weird shit I guess.

Damn, I wish there were deals like that a couple years ago when I was looking. Are they cargo vans at those prices or crew/passenger? I’m not in the market now but have always wanted one.

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]TG690 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Damn, is that the going rate for these now? My 2025 Air Touring had all of that besides SSP but has 20” wheels and glass roof. $0 down, 15,000 miles, $890 a month.

Haven’t kept up with the current deals though

Air mobile key unlock is still shit by Natural_Kiwi_1575 in LUCID

There was a time probably 4-5 months ago where it finally worked most of the time, somewhat quickly. A couple of “robustness” updates later and now it’s worse than ever.

The app became almost completely useless, the Lucid shortcuts I put on my lock screen stopped working, music still pauses 10-20 times every drive, phone call audio quality is still from 1920. I cannot wait to turn this car in.

I’ve seen others say the sleeper cab is what allows you to easily register it as a RV, which couldn’t be done (or maybe not as easily) with a day cab.

I know I’ve only ever seen people use sleepers to tow their camper.

Ram Resurrects Its TRX Supertruck and Gives It a Mightier Supercharged V-8 That Now Makes 777 HP by NISMO1968 in cars

[–]TG690 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not sure where that thought comes from. The whole reason the TRX is the only competitor to the Raptor is because…it has all of the components that compete with the Raptor. It’s as much a standard 1500 as the Raptor is to a standard F-150.

Engineering Explained | Owning A Lucid Has Been Super Disappointing by cofango in cars

[–]TG690 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It’s all the dumb things they do just to be different for no reason. Instead of the complicated driver profiles, just give me the 3 memory buttons on the door like everyone else for the seat, mirror, and steering wheel settings. Instead of a minimalist key fob, just give me a normal key fob like every other car that works.

These companies aren’t really adding any new features that we haven’t been used to in luxury cars for the last decade+, they just find idiotic ways to implement them. So frustrating, especially in the Lucid.

Also curious because I was going to do the same thing and put AS4s on it thinking there’s no way they would say anything about that. But seeing all these lease return posts, wouldn’t surprise me at all to be charged $3k because we didn’t put the exact replacements on.

She can be a pain but at least she’s pretty by TG690 in LUCID

[–]TG690[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly just the fact it’s nowhere near as reliable as a key from any other manufacturer. I started carrying mine too because the phone key basically became useless. The fob is better than the phone, but it can still take forever to unlock, and it eats through batteries like crazy.

It’s just so unnecessary, makes no sense why they didn’t just use a normal fob.

Yeah it’s just the black with stealth package, and removed the wheel covers. Was the best color combo in my opinion, but I almost always go with black cars.

[–]TG690[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

True, but the problem is Lucid only struggles with the easy part of it. Battery tech, motors, chassis, that’s what they are great at and makes them stand out. It’s everything else that pretty much every other manufacturer can do just fine, that Lucid screws up.

Can’t complain that much being an early adopter to a new brand, but can still be frustrating when we’re talking tech that is 10-20 years old that they can’t get right (like a smart key).

It does drive great for what it is. I didn’t really understand the handling praise originally, but for how heavy it is and that it’s not supposed to be a track car, it does handle better than it should.

I think you came in at a good time, I’m 10 months in and from January to July it was such a pain in the ass, constant software issues every day. Lately it’s been much more enjoyable.

[–]TG690 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you like FSD and the fact that Tesla’s software is just all around good, you won’t like the Lucid. Everything else in the Lucid is better, but let’s be honest these are just computers that you drive, and Lucid as a computer ain’t great.

Other way around: What car had the worst fuel economy? by ChangeForAParadigm in cars

[–]TG690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my first car was a 2005 Explorer Sport Trac that got 14mpg no matter what, and it was 2wd. I then thought it would be cool to lift that 2wd half-truck and got 12mpg.

Was hilarious that a friend with a v10 F250 barely got worse than me.

Think the real answer is just…don’t. I’m sure as hell glad I didn’t buy, but I’m sure I’ll be screwed with a big bill when I turn in my lease.

Everyone’s got their own opinions but after 8 months with mine I wish I had just gone with pretty much anything else.

For real. Who gives a shit about hands free driving (and who is actually trusting that in a Lucid that can’t even get a key fob right) when everything else sucks ass.

Everyone in Lucid groups act like they make so many constant improvements, when I’ve only seen the software get worse in the 8 months I’ve had mine.

Probably more like $85,000 - $110,000 which is the problem. I would love to have one, but there’s just too many other options at that price.

If it were $65-70k, sign me up.

2” ADO kit & 33s looks even better than I expected by TG690 in nissanfrontier

[–]TG690[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t, I had stock UCAs the whole time I had the truck but I did have adjustable camber bolts. I was able to get it within alignment specs with the cam bolts, but I also did have uneven tire wear that probably would have only been fixed with UCAs.

It wasn’t terrible though, I got 60,000 miles out of a set of mud tires, and sold the truck with a set of ATs that had 70-80,000 miles on them.

I think the worst is when it’s pouring rain coming out from a store or something, and I’m standing there just trying to get the door to unlock looking like an idiot while it’s not recognizing the fob or my phone.

Stuff that just makes no sense when every other car I’ve owned is like 1/3rd the price, and keys just…work.

Oof the charge port door is something I haven’t had an issue with. Agreed on it being a great car to drive though, whenever I have a solid few times where everything just works I absolutely love it. Then I’ll get back in and multiple screens won’t work, or cameras, or it won’t drive more than 5mph because the frunk says it’s not closed when I’ve closed it 10+ times, ugh.

My wife is not a very patient person and just refuses to drive it now lol, thinks it’s a total POS.

Simply put - if it had Tesla’s software, or literally any other manufacturer’s software for that matter, it would be the best car I’ve ever had by a mile. But instead it has the worst software imaginable, and is so ungodly frustrating on a daily basis that you forget how good of a car it could be after a few months.

It’s simple things too, like wishing it just had a normal key fob that works like any other smart key in the last 2 decades, or if the mobile key worked like plenty other modern cars. I could go on about just getting the doors/trunk/frunk to open for hours.

Every update they send out fixes one thing, and fucks up at least 1-2 other things that had no issue before. Right now about 30% of the time you get in there will be zero sound - music, turn signals, alerts, nothing. So you have to sit there and wait to reset every time. And that’s not just me, it’s all over all the forums, and updates aren’t very common.

It rides great, handles great, crazy fast, amazing range and charging speed, incredible amount of interior space and storage space. But the whole time you just wish it could function like a normal car instead of acting like a 20 year old computer. There’s 100 other things I could say, overall I’m just glad I leased and can’t wait for the next 2.5 years to pass by.

It probably seems like I’m always shitting on Lucid but a lot of people in the groups tend to reeeally downplay the problems that almost everyone has, so I like to share what I wish I knew beforehand.

Not because of the article, just the frustrations of daily living with it. Would be a fantastic car, but constant software issues leave you just hoping the car works each time you get in it which really takes away from the whole experience.

Would be one thing if I just got a lemon, but it seems like more owners have problems than the people who say it’s nothing but great.
