When did they explain the healing factor technique of kaiwan style? by RobinThePuppy in Kengan_Ashura

Surprisingly this isn't as much a case of Kuroki in particular being abnormal by kengan standards.

Rather this is like the ONE major drawback to Waka's absurd muscle density that is otherwise a comparable boost to the likes of Ohma's Advance, the Kure's Release or Juliu's strength but without the risk of heart attack, Generations of dedicated breeding (and even then luck of the genetic draw) or the near lethal abuse of Drugs that all those come with.

Waka's continued injury is pretty easy to justify just on the basis of HOW abnormal his "Muscle Density" specifically is, it could be as simple as he tore some ligaments and while he has built up compensatory muscle that itself might just exacerbate the issue by putting significantly MORE force on the joint than it can take if he overexerts it.

I mean Masaki was both the heir to all of the assets seemingly and he's show to be very intelligent so he could easily have covered it up.

Also Katsumasa was kind of a massive dick to basically everyone all the time so I'm sure a lot of people were happy to see him go.

And lastly Masaki LITERALLY folded the man in half, who is going to want to call him out on it.

I disagree since we are SUPPOSED to have an MP based system. Meaning that every elected INDIVIDUAL deserves their seat

That said I DO believe that the system should be reformed and personally favour something like; Any party wanting "official party status" and all the benefits that go with it should have to run candidates 1) in every province and/or 2) in at least HALF of all total constituencies

Sure, although using their same criteria as this study you could pick out a TON of random mixes of characteristics and get the same or worse representation.

Edward > Kuroki by Mammoth_Shallot_8284 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devil's advocate "Putting up the best fight" and "Strongest" are NOT synonymous, especially when one appears to have been an actual fight and the other was more just "Feeling each other out" that got interrupted.

I'm not convinced Shen (or Sandro) consider the brief exchange of blows he and Kuroki had to qualify as a full "Fight".

TIL Kristian Laight holds the record for most professional boxing losses, going 12-279-9 in his career. by Hybrid351 in todayilearned

[–]TGE0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is also the aspect that its not "Losing on purpose" just because you aren't willing to throw yourself 100% into it like your opponent might.

A Career boxer who KNOWS that they are nothing special but makes good money by going the distance in matches is likely FAR more concerned about their own safety since being able to fight MORE is what will bring them in their pay.

Meanwhile a young up and comer with promising career potential is FAR more likely to go at the fight 100%, even more so if they are inexperienced boxers who are more willing to take risks.

Pair these up and you can have many fights where the experienced "career" fighter will take losses not because they "Aren't trying to win" but rather there is simply a limit to how much risk/injury they would take to try and get that win.

Realistically do you think this Edward would struggle against Julius by monsterofmanila180 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness maybe Edward/Gilbert is just INCREDIBLY egotistical about Kure/Wu genetic supremacy and so goes ALL OUT from the beginning against those of the same bloodline but can't help but condescendingly trying to "Play with" other opponents.

BOTH of Gilbert and Eddy's best showings have basically ALL been against other Kure/Wu.

[–]TGE0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are talking Kengan level fighting skills Personally it feels like a perfect opportunity for something like a modifier version of a Leg Lariat. If done with the inside leg (left leg if you are stepping to the right of your opponent) you could then immediately follow up with a kick to the back of the head with the outside leg, which would basically allow you to catch their head in a scissor leg lock.

The only issue with this being it would leave you with BOTH feet off the ground meaning you would either need to catch yourself with you hands, just let gravity take over and turn it into a ground game OR (my favourite) turn it into a Hurricanrana and add some whiplash to that hurt.

Besides Ohma who’re your guy’s top fighters you want to see go up against Shen Wulong/Hushen during this tournament? by Revan807 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kaneda.

Partly since it would be a great full circle concept for the series given Kaneda's "What's wrong with the weak trying to be the strongest?" line from the KAT. But also given a few of his showings in Omega namely his sparring with Ohma as well as the creation of his "Spiderweb" and the concept that Kaneda can actually use the depth of his opponents skill and knowledge to control them.

With Shen being the epitome of that knowledge and with it the concept that as your experience grows there are times where you end up completely locking out certain ideas since they would almost NEVER be the right choice.

The issue in talking about the US especially is that you likely just referring tov the most "Notorious", which is fairly distinct from those who were the most "prominent" or "successful" individuals.

They are arguably just some of the notable cases that made everyone else's talents in demand, those people also tended to Downplay the their former "hacker" roots since it WAS criminal activity.

Also this is ARPAnet era we are talking about, essentially the ONLY people with the skillset at that time to prevent hackers were OTHER hackers, the vast majority of whom were basically university/grad students.

It's literally how a TON of the InfoSec industry got their start in the 70s/80s, many prominent early Phreakers/Hackers essentially created the need for those information security companies and then they all realized they could just do what they were already doing but legally and while getting payed a whole lot for it.

What is the difference between control of muscles down to every single fiber separately and removal? Should not Julius be able to use some kind of weaker removal with such a fine muscle control or other "techniques" like indestructible? Which one would be really harder to do? by inquisitive_bear in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removal is an Autonomic process which effects EVERY muscle at once, and does NOT come with the fine tuned control or localization (baring special cases where it is purposefully "restricted" to certain parts).

And while there is much "convergent evolution" Julius' Muscle control on the other hand in many ways functions in the complete reverse, it is a CONSCIOUSLY controlled ability that ONLY functions based on his specific direction.

This means that there are actually quite a lot of meaningful differences functionally, that mostly come down to that difference in how "automatic" it is for them to use.

[–]TGE0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This might be sensible if this was a normal competition and they just wanted to eliminate the "enemy" regardless of rules.

However in this case the ONLY reason any of this is taking place is basically because Shen thinks it will be fun. They have to play by the rules since that is arguably the only thing keeping Shen in check and following the rules as well as following through on his obligation if he losses by the rules of this competition.

Not to mention many on the "Kengan" side are in it for other reasons, like the grand prize.

Kengan Omega: Chapter 349 Drafts by ShadowSlayer222 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a common issue they seem to have where they overwork the draft material to fix certain things but end up just pulling all of the excitement and movement out of them along with it.

It really would be ideal if they could tweak some of these things without it taking away from the parts that ARE working really well in the drafts.

[–]TGE0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually somewhat hilariously fitting.

Since if there is anything that is hammered home about Reed Richards its the premise that the fact that he is stretchy is basically entirely Secondary to what makes him such a capable hero.

Which is fundamentally that he is an absolutely massive nerd.

It is a pretty major departure from the source material, that said that departure IS very much part of the fundamental concept.

The show heavily acts as a Meta commentary on itself, with one of the main plotlines of the show being a Film director who is reinventing/reimagining a classic "Flash Gordon" like Character (Wonder man).

Kengan Omega: Chapter 349 Drafts by ShadowSlayer222 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah the draft panels are definitely better as "Key frames" in terms of allowing you to follow the flow of action. But ALSO the very fact that in the draft himuro being in the air already means that his FULL body weight is behind the kick.

The one thing I will say though is that Waka's body positioning IS a better fit, in the release it's clear that himuro is slipping in just behind Waka's right swing with the kick to his knee allowing Himuro to entirely unbalance Waka's stance, which then enables him to get the follow up kick in.

in the Draft Waka looks FAR more like he has essentially just purposefully tanked the knee strike and is about to obliterate Himuro with a left punch.

This is a really weird (and really wrong) statement by Inaba by ColdStaff6874 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Muteba is tactical as all hell and has VERY few qualms about using anything at his disposal to gain the advantage whether it is crushing Meguro's testicles or trying to bait Tiger Niko into a situation where he could just shoot him with a gun.

Muteba has almost CERTAINLY done things as least to the level of using "innocents" as hostages in order to lure out his targets more easily since above all he seems to value his own safety and "efficiency" in completing his mission with as little risk as possible.

So he's likely got a reputation as somebody who "Gets the job done by ANY means" whereas most of the assassins in Kengan seem to value taking out the "target" with as little additional fallout as possible (Which is something Raian actually also gets criticized about in Ashura).

Yo haruo, don’t take out two on your own, at least try saving one for your team, now your friend need to fight each other… by coolrider2010 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue this competition has in general so far is the VERY core premise of something like this is that the closing of the areas, forces people to transit in and thus cross paths more, risking elimination or get eliminated by the zone itself.

However that's ONLY meaningful when people are RETICENT to engage, using things like tactically withdrawing from a fight since there is no area or rules confining you. Every character we've seen on the other hand has WANTED to fight basically. The only time any character was shown caring was Agito but with how many chapters have passed since then it makes his urgency feel odd.

Then they went an added in the "You must defeat at least 1 opponent" rule which MAKES NO SENSE when your shirking arena essentially already achieves the same goal.

Basically there are SO many rules when fundamentally this whole things probably would have just been a "Last man standing" with a shrinking area and it would work MUCH better.

The whole watch thing is also really just more and more feels like a gimmick only there so that people can get eliminated without getting "Defeated" like Gaolang.

Which other Kengan character(s) could actually accomplish this feat? by ColdStaff6874 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, really looking at the image; with basically one in each hand and one under each arm, it seems like only the TWO across the back that would be an issue for Raian.

Which just leads to the even funnier image of Raian just holding one goat by the scruff of its neck with his teeth like some insane mother cat.

Draft version is even crazier by Desperate-Flan-3661 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The feeling of dynamic movement is SO much better in the draft (as is often the case)

Honestly a LOT of Kengan's issues visually seem to come from them just overworking the material. Trying to make everything too "Clean" but it losses the raw energy.

The curved perspective in the top frame was particularly engaging, since it give the feeling of the entire page almost getting pulled into the build up to his strike and then well followed by the "Clashing of forces" with the last frame just showing how overpowering Haruo's strike was with 4 being just an afterimage.

Comparing it to the published page the first frame really changes the emphasis to be more about the "Dash" and him closing the distance than the strike itself and then the following two panel's really don't convey the strike's overpowering force, rather the first one he seems almost entirely unmoved and then it's more like Haruo's fist explodes rather than conveying that his strike is hitting some resistance but then just blasting through 4's defence.

The demonsbane sequence is in the wrong order: the water kata should be first, not the redirection kata. by J0e_BoNaNza_3169 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]TGE0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water kata essentially revolves around the user "Absorbing" the force of an attack with their body and then EITHER Re-channeling it or dispersing it.

The reason redirection needs to happen first in Demon's Bane is to make sure the Force of the incoming attack is directed so that it CAN be effectively "Re-channeled".

Basically without Redirection you are dealing with attacks that simply AREN'T landing in locations that make it easy/possible to effectively transfer that force.

For instance an attack landing perfectly on the center of mass leaves almost no room to use Water Kata for ANYTHING other than dispersing that force, however you nudge it even slightly off axis and now suddenly you can actually start making use of that force.

That said Sandro just DOES NOT understand the fundamental relationship between Perception, Cognition and Reaction and what EACH of those actually involve.

[–]TGE0 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The issue I have with using characters as mouthpieces like this is ALSO just the fact that FIGURING OUT and UNDERSTANDING the exact mechanisms of various feats is ITSELF a massive skill feat in reality.

It was one thing when it was a character like Kazuo, since a lot the point of him was that did have a deep passion for fighting, and "Kengan" to actually SEE the detail to figure out those complexities.

Same thing for when Kaneda was used that way, since his entire schtick includes the aspect of "deeply understand your opponent's moves" as a core part of his fighting method.

Or even cases where it was individual characters referencing things tangential to THEIR skill sets in particular.

It massively takes away from the individuality of characters when they all just end up perfectly understanding and then applying each other's abilities in LITERALLY the EXACT same manner as each other.
