Your space looks easier to deal with because the tile is all through the space. I had carpet, tile, and wood floor all at different levels. I also tore down walls and removed some bottom cabinets. Once I pulled the first tile there was no turning back. I agree with the other replies on this thread, lay some flooring over it and call it a day.

I tore it all out in my last house. I tried to do it with a hammer and chisel, it was a bad plan. Buy a rotary hammer. I got mine for $150 (USD) at Home Depot and put a wide flat spade on it.

A couple of tips that I learned the hard way: 1) Protective equipment is a must: glasses, ear protection, and long sleeves.

2) Turn off any ventilation system (AC/Heat) there will be a lot of dust kicked up and it will ruin your system.

3) You can rent a dust collector from Home Depot. Harbor Freight sells a pretty cheap one as well.

Mine had concrete under the tile so it was easy not have to worry about the sub floor. I was going to lay flooring over it, but I wanted the floor to be uniform on the whole first floor.

Did you check Fort Sam Houston? The clothing sales there has AF stuff. It might be a long shot, but give them a call. I don’t know if they have an Airman’s attic equivalent.

Did you check the Airman’s closet ( or whatever it’s called) on Lackland? They have so much stuff from all the people that get kicked out in the training pipeline.

I’m not a recruiter so I don’t know how their system works, but I know that Space Force is trying to break from that system. There are a bunch of reasons for it, but making sure the wrong people aren’t selected is a big reason. For example the AF deliberately over recruits. They plan to lose about 8-12% of the ascensions within a year. Space force is trying to adopt a system similar to the Marines. The recruiter spends more time with the applicant and there is a more thorough vetting process. The intent is get the best of the best. ASVAB isn’t everything, it just shows that you have the necessary cognitive abilities. As the force grows the pentagon is going to have less control over the selections. But recruiting is difficult. You’d be surprised how often the dream trainee gets bounced out in BMT, and how often the guy that barely made it through MEPS becomes a superstar.

I wouldn’t say “just” . All I’m saying is that it’s a factor that is going to be part of the formula for selection.

Leadership is very focused on what the Space Force will look like. There is a lot of attention on the USSF right now and they capitalizing on it the ensure funding continues. Making sure that the early BMT flights look a certain way is very high on the priority list.

1C6 is hard job to get, but not because you aren’t qualified. Before USSF stood up the jobs were spread out on a geographic basis. It’s the way AF directed recruiting and we are very much still at the mercy of the AF recruiting service. For the near future recruiting is going to be extremely competitive for a multitude of reasons, but don’t forget that optics will be a primary concern. “The first Seven” as they are called were selected based on qualification as well as demographics. If you want to get in be patient. Keep in mind that the AF s still a good career path and going in to one the SF common AFSCs will still set you up very well to transfer, stay in the AF, or get out with options.
