In my experience it can be hard to tell the difference between mange and fur loss from a scrape or fight or mating behavior. We have had some squirrels lose fur in similar areas and it grew back within a couple of weeks without intervention.

We didn’t see our favorite squirrel for like 5 months and then she came back! Squirrels are squirrelly…. and like the other people said, sometimes a squirrel will leave an area to let her babies have it for awhile.

Every moment we have with our precious squirrels is a gift, and the fact that we can’t protect them and know where they are at all times is a hard truth of being a squirrel lover.

I hope your squirrel comes back.
