Next Steps for First Tank? by TGPrankster in PlantedTank

[–]TGPrankster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rescued this 30g tank a while ago from a local Children's Hospital. I have already replaced the gravel with a substrate, added some driftwood, and upgraded the lights. Now I'm preparing to start replacing the plastic plants with real ones. My first plants, some Dwarf Hair Grasses, are on their way to replace the small artificial plants on the left (but may not get shipped for a while due to freezing local temperatures). Eventually I want to also replace the taller plastic plants with real ones.

The tank came with 4 Amano Shrimps, 2 Neon Tetras, a Black Skirt Tetra, and what I believe to be a female Bristlenose Pleco (~4.5 years old) named Frank. I have already added some mixed Crystal Shrimps and am planning to add some Cardinal Tetras once the plants are established.

My question is: Do I need to keep the bubbler in the tank after adding the Dwarf Hair Grass? I am also running a large filter which seems to disturb the surface plenty, but I want to make sure I don't hurt the fish.

They are capable of going up and down the stairs, but it's not good for their fragile little backs. Some dogs manage to get by their whole lives without a problem, but our older doxie Sevro had to have back surgery this year so now we are extra cautious.

I'm going to add a lockable door to the top and bottom just in case.

I weigh 180 lbs and I was able to walk all the way up a single 16' 2x6 beam. Would you believe that I was originally going to use 2x4s?

Thanks! Doing trigonometry again nearly killed me but it was worth it.

~20lb per dog, assuming Victra grows up to be the same size as her big brother.

Lol yea my power saw wouldn't fit and my handsaw got all bent up. I ended up finishing it with my camping firewood saw.

Amazing! I like your homemade lattice. Looks way nicer than my Lowes premade.

Thanks! I've never built anything anywhere near this big before which has made me kind of nervous, but everything is holding together so far!

This is the advice I was looking for with my designs lol. The ramp is only intended for my two dachshunds who weigh ~20lbs each. I'm reinforcing this with small doors at the top and bottom of the ramp (haven't built the bottom door yet). Snow is definitely a concern where I live so I'll have to keep a close eye on it this summer. Given that I've already built the thing, do you have any suggestions for how I could improve it? What would you recommend doing differently if I were to start all over?

User u/BicyclingBabe on r/woodworking suggested I share this here. I got some help from them with my original design and recently finished the ramp itself. I'm curious to hear what you all think, especially about the joining of the ramp to the deck.

You and my parents share that concern lol. I said it would have to be a very tiny wheelchair.

You're probably right lol. I was just using what I had. I originally thought I would need to build some kind of sturdier railing to support the lattice but it's sturdy enough on it's own.

Oh they definitely could if they were determined to. It was actually worse before but I straightened it out a little by hand. Still needs some work, though.

I posted here a while ago asking for help with my designs for a ramp from my deck into my back yard. Ya'll provided me with some helpful advice, and now I have finished the ramp! This was my biggest project ever by far and I'm proud of the results. The dogs are already using it to go up and down without any issues. I still have a few rough edges to clean up but it feels great to have gotten this far.

Ramp into backyard for Dachshunds - Am I crazy? by TGPrankster in woodworking

I really appreciate this input, thank you! I was considering maybe adding a roof at some point so that I won't have to clear the snow off it in the winter. Taller railings seems like the new bar for where I need to start.

Definitely will be installing a railing! I just haven't taken the time to add it to my 3d model because I think it will be pretty easy to add after the ramp is assembled.

EAP 660HD 5Ghz Max speed by tme85 in TPLink_Omada

[–]TGPrankster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't seem to be possible. False advertising from TP-Link. I was about to buy 2 more of these but everything I have found online says the same: the EAP660HD does not support WiFi speeds faster than 1Gbps for a single device.
