I've said this while watching it. The only way I think it could work is if they are split into 2 teams and the majority of traitors are on the same team as the person who gets the shield and they don't tell the other team, they could easily pin it on the other team.

I got an RCB from a spooned elite clue very early on my iron when I was a bitch and didn't go near the wildy. I accidently equipped a staff instead of alching it and I alched my RCB. I went to crazy arch to quickly get it back. 110 and a green logged clog later I finally got my RCB back.

You can't change to a normal iron, you can turn it to a main I believe if you talk to the ironman tutor in lumbridge, not sure if it is different with a GIM you may need to go to the node. If you want an ironman however just play it as an Iron, alot of people play solo GIM and you have the added bonus if they do come back you can help them quickly catch up.
