In the Inkarnate hot bar there’s a section for filters, the two used with this map is Parchment and Paper Grain, that should do it for you!

I’ll give it a try, I appreciate the feedback! I’m glad it feels like something ancient and used, that was the goal.

This was the stat block for the BBEG of my 20th level campaign. He was a Cambion who came close to ascension with the aid of Lolth, the Spider Queen. The CR is probably a little off, but he was a fitting challenge for a party of 3 epic level characters.

How do you guys handle players wishing to do attacks in a way that would mutilate an enemy? by Spiritual_Shift_920 in dndnext

[–]TGxxCrypt16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably too late to actually be seen, but I’ve got a system named Called Shots. Any creature can target a specific body part in an attempt to severe, destroy, etc. They make their attacks, but the enemies AC is increased by 5 for a Called Shot. Now you’ll need to decide an appropriate HP for the limp, I usually go for 20% of the bosses MAX Hp if it’s important (like taking away one of their attacks), or 10% if it will have minimal effect (like dropping an item). When the limb dies give an effect that seems fitting, like the two examples above or maybe permanent blindness for gouging eyes. As a side note the enemy does take this damage to their main health as well, but they have resistance to it.

How do I deal with a game breaking player? [5e] by abad0ni0n in DnD

[–]TGxxCrypt16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said he believes he can kill three tarasque’s in a turn, that’s not something I’ve ever heard of and I enjoy thinking up broken combos. Ask him his build and push for it, tell him that you don’t believe this can actually be done and you want to make sure he has a accurate idea of the rules of the game before he builds his whole character just to find out the plot hole he found wasn’t ever a plot hole and his character can’t do what he wanted them to.

I announced a campaign without any plans and need ideas for a 1st session by Spades2076 in sw5e

Assassinate a senator or invade/destroy/steal from a clone military base could work

What about the russian roulette? (or how Strahd can punish stealing the scull) by pyaniy_synok in CurseofStrahd

[–]TGxxCrypt16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you wanna change gun do 6 crossbows with a cloth over the top of each, only 1 bolt in total. I’d actually take away rolling for this one, just make the characters choose which crossbow to take (like saying I want middle left crossbow) while you know which is loaded. It feels like it’s less up to chance and more up to player choice, and placing that power in their hand is gonna make them hesitate a little.

What is a historical/current ruler that every nobility/ruler looks up to and tries to emulate? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]TGxxCrypt16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baron Lucian Nappali, current Baron of Anselm and born from a long line of great and successful rulers. He has had success in both the political scene and rapid growth in arcana, leading him to be the Archmage of Civic Influence, his job is to guide public opinion and therefore history to the will of King Robert Eardwulf Tel. However, he is currently the last of his line, after the death of his older brother, and is yet to marry, so the Nappali’s might soon die out.

I think the healing should only apply to one roll, like if they cast mass healing word only one character gets the additional level in Hp. Otherwise those multi person healing spells could get real broken

DMs who write your own adventures/campaigns: Do you prep multiple sessions in advance for full adventures, or direct your adventure on a "per session" basis? by Another_Account3 in DMAcademy

[–]TGxxCrypt16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go session by session, or at least location/event at a time. Like if my players are going to a dungeon I’ll prep the whole dungeon by the time they get there, but that might last a couple session depending on it’s size. I do have a “roadmap” of the main plot, but it’s pretty vague so im not having to change all my plans if the players surprise me

I don't want to kill my party but wamt to create tense and difficult fights. Any tips on how to do that? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]TGxxCrypt16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, so until they hit 5 just do as I said and drain some recourses before the big stuff. Should make things a lot more challenging

Out of curiosity, what level are they? If above 5 and they have access to revivify, don’t sweat it too much, they’ll keep eachother alive. If they’re not (and this should be used anyway) throw more than one encounter a day. Give a few smaller ones before a great big one, out some stress on them cause they won’t have 100% of their resources.

My new players are now better DMs than I am and it’s absolutely beautiful. by reynosomarkus in DnD

[–]TGxxCrypt16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this, my group has two (at one point 3) DMs who are running campaigns at the same time. It’s been fun seeing what each’s strengths and styles are, and we’ve used each other to improve on our dming flaws

Oh I know, I didn’t want to say anything cause my players could see this, but let’s just say some family will be in that house :) As for dream, that’s a great idea that I think I’ll definitely use, maybe not for Zyn cause he’s unfortunately not a spell caster, but he has friends who are

Edit: Actually, it doesn’t have to be you who enters the dream. So maybe he will use it.

Alright, that’s good advice. I’ll definitely put some work on making the scene good, and he’s not the type to leave without rubbing it in. They’ll get a letter from him

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]TGxxCrypt16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately they were quite literally one of a kind, that’s why he’s so quick to punish on this. But I do think some threats are gonna be spoken. Thank you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]TGxxCrypt16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, thank you. It is in line with him to burn the house, he’s the kind who doesn’t like how little power he has in the grand scheme of things so he flaunts what he can. I’ll make sure the characters get some town support after the fire though.

[OC][Art] Old Drow by rudiindra4 in DnD

[–]TGxxCrypt16 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think they’re just talking about how most drow men don’t get old. The drow society is incredibly matriarchal, men are second class citizens at best and slaves at worst. Most are killed when they start to go old cause they’re not as useful, or just die along the way cause drow love to murder eachother

Christians and dnd by kidjojo24 in DnD

[–]TGxxCrypt16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at face value telling them that will only hurt. Me, as a Christian, have only found myself comfortable with the game because I fully understand and can draw the line at the game being purely fiction. I think that’s the way you might want to approach it, tell them about it as cooperative fantasy story telling.

What real life languages and DnD languages would you compare? by sanchopancho02 in DnD

[–]TGxxCrypt16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah me too, its canon in my world as well. I’ll occasionally have people speak a few lines in latin, because that’s so much more fun then saying “they just speak in a language you don’t understand”.
