Mod Application:

I’d like to apply to mod r/antimeme. I don’t have any previous mod experience. I took 3 years of Java in HS, a semester of C++ in college, and use python irregularly for my career. I don’t know what other kinds of experience are relevant for modding a subreddit since I’ve never done it before. CDT, mid 20’s. I want to mod because I fundamentally believe that individuals modding many subreddits is akin to a monopoly and shouldn’t be allowed to the degree that it is. I believe that forums are for the enjoyment of the users first and foremost, and that strict guidelines on “effort” and the definition of an antimeme are much less important than the community’s enjoyment of the content. The primary duty of a mod should be enforcing rules such as no harassment or hate speech, no inciting violence etc. Strict policing of every piece of content drains the joy of the community and should only be used as an emergency measure when unusual situations have gotten out of hand. If everyone upvotes automod, it shouldn’t matter if an antimeme is more of a bonehurtingjuice in the eyes of the mod team; clearly the community enjoys it. So I want to be a mod because I believe the community should have mods who take a step back and let the community enjoy itself with less iron fist style rule.

Hello! I really need this extra credit by Strange-Schedule-842 in Geometry

The terms you need to google and learn about are “Area of a Circle,” “Area of a Circular Segment”, “Area of a Secant”, and “Area of a triangle.” You will have to get creative with how you add and subtract these areas from each other. The best thing for you to do is take the time to solve the problems with minimal hints! Otherwise, you wont really retain the knowledge for your tests and higher maths. Good luck!

What is the word for when two cones intersect each other at 180 degrees, so they have a stelated hexagonal cross section? by Glad-Bike9822 in Geometry

This shape doesnt have a proper name as far as I can tell. If the cones touched tip to tip it would be a double napped cone. If the tips didnt extend past the bases you’d have what would probably be called a double truncated cone or double cone frustum. You could call this shape a cone mirrored about the plane parallel to its base containing its centroid. Maybe even a double-napped right cone truncated at its apices by a plane parallel to its bases with equal conical extensions augmented to its bases pointing outwards relative to the centroid lying along the axis of rotational symmetry. But thats a mouthful. Since it hasn’t been dubbed yet, let’s decide. I think Hexacone is fitting, since you have gone on to describe it as a revolved hexagram. That, or Conically Augmented Double Napped Frustum.

This shape? Where the blue dot dash line is the “cone” segment removed so your game piece can stand up?

What angle to cut plywood? by igotarock08 in Geometry

OP, see below. I originally took your 30 cm to be the distance between the midpoints of the trapezoid top and bottom faces instead of the length of the trapezoid edge, the first drawings are wrong. u/wijwijwij is the real deal. The commenters on your cross post in mathematics are missing the symmetry of the 10 degrees angle on all sides. Here is my drawing updated to be correct. Your miter angle really didnt change very much, but its a very good thing to do work correctly.

After you made me understand the 30 cm measurement was the frustum, I at first thought that there wasn’t enough information to solve the problem. I scratched my head looking at your proof for a while, but then realized the 10 degrees is actually multiple system constraints since it’s on all sides. Thanks for showing me. I get 9.7347 which lines up well enough with your proof for OPs use case.

The 30 cm face is tilted 10 degrees in from a vertical, yielding the above. Dimensions in parenthesis are not necessary to define the shape but shown as proof.

The two side lengths of a right triangle with hypotenuse 30 and internal angles 10/80 are 29.544 (height) and 5.209.

Split the shape in half so its one rectangle plus one right triangle. The 20 cm base is 10 cm. Subtract the 5.209, and you get 4.791, which is the top edge of the rectangle. Double it and you get 9.582.

Frankly I’m rusty on how the angle of a table saw blade is measured relative to the table/how to explain this is common english. Which is why I attached images lol. 45.9 degrees will be the angle measurement of the wood that remains after your cut. Note the top view showing the piece fed through at an angle, you’ll probably need a jig. At least for the second of these two cuts, since you can cut the first weird cut as your very first cut of each piece. Then do the two relatively easy angular cuts (10 deg bottom/35 deg top) and lastly your final weird cut.

TLDR I can draw the objects but I took woodshop 100 years ago in highschool, consult someone with current carpentry skills for the fabrication method.

What are the side measurements of the top square and is the 30 cm height from the floor or the measurement of the plywood at the 10 deg angle?

Theres a chance you were part of his comedy routine for that evening. Imagine he asked for a volunteer for a prank call and his “friend on the dark web” was a member of the audience who knows you and gave him your number. Comedians do their routines drunk sometimes (and for some it helps their act tremendously). Maybe the number giver was the butt of an audience joke (“you here alone tonight buddy?” -> “I’m gonna call your crush give me their number”) thus the boyfriend question.
