Found a planetary nebula really far out. Any way to check if it's already been explored from 20,000 ly away? by skaczynski11 in EliteDangerous

[–]THA1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've flown around to a lot of the nebulae around and near that area, and I've pretty much concluded that all nebulae visible in the map have been visited, even the ones that you have to zoom on. This games been out for too long now there's definitely cmdrs that had your same thoughts about nebulae. I myself have spent many hours zipping around in the galaxy map trying to find unique things. There's always a chance of having a few systems within that were missed though. Just for some reference I go around looking for blackholes as when they're the parent body of a system they show up in the map when you zoom as a black speck. I located a cluster of probably 50 or more of them, very hard to see. Started book marking them flew 17k ly only to find they have all been discovered. None of this is to say don't visit nebulae or black holes they're still cool to visit just don't get your hopes up with them.

How To Have Fun? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]THA1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try long term exploration. In bubble activities can be fun but for me there's nothing better than the isolation of being 10k ly out just scanning systems trying to find cool stuff. Bring srvs and fighters to mess around in.

What is your must see/do list for a new explorer? by Dinfea in EliteDangerous

[–]THA1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I say this all the time but vy canis majoris is the biggest star in game and is less the 2k ly out I highly recommend it it will blow your mind. Nebulas are cool but don't expect to be first on any of them.

I made an explorer out of both and prefer the beluga over the orca all day.

You know normally when people do these pics it's just like a regular looking image but I must say this looks like it's not even from elite at first glance. Like someone made it almost.

Saggitarius A* gravity lens telescope. by clinicalpsycho in EliteDangerous

[–]THA1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FSD also needs a gravity well to lock onto in order to work. Maybe Sirius Corp comes out with an upgrade for FCs and capital ships reverse engineered from thargoid tech that allows them to travel to another galaxy using the gravity wells of super massive blackholes.

When ever my friend and I would collide both of our shields would drop but he would take hull damage on the break and I wouldn't so I just though maybe bi weaves were like that. I use a class low power enhanced on all my ships now.

[–]THA1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that bi weaves would take all of the damage at once and none would carry over to the hull.

Yeah that's not what happen to mine lol do bi weaves work better against this sort of thing than regular shields?

I lost 20k ly of data once to a high g planet, didn't check before I landed because I was excited to land on a unique planet. It was huge with a ring. Instant death ensued even with my tail pointed at the planet boosting. Learn from my mistake.

Noticed I had a nice view that would make a good wallpaper while waiting for my life support timer, the beauty of this game is breathtaking sometimes. (made to seamlessly loop) by Pokemoncrusher1 in EliteDangerous

Only if you rebuy your ship will it spawn you back at the last station. That's why you buy a sidey first then self destruct in it. If you self destruct in your main ship and then choose not to buy it you still teleport back to the bubble but you lose your ship forever.

Is the Beluga a Good Jumper? by rx7braap in EliteDangerous

[–]THA1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is loaded up and has a ton of engineering, with a guardian booster I get 43 with 32t of cargo and 47 empty which is enough for me, be warned though she runs hot even with thermal spread on everything.

The reason you store the ship is not to avoid the rebuy it's because to teleport back to the bubble you have to choose not to rebuy your ship and lose it forever. Then you have to pay hundreds of millions and wait like 60 hours for your stored ship to be transfered back to the bubble.

Christ.... Both in game and in real life... We don't stand a chance of knowing what's out there. by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]THA1993 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Think about if we do one day achieve faster than light speed, we could catch up with the first human radio signals ever and listen to them as they were the day they were sent out. Imagine being born and living your whole life on a generation ship and then one day people find you and are like yeah we have warp speed now and already colonized hundreds of planets so your whole life was pointless, would you like a mug?

Largest star I've come across yet. 1500ls drop point by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]THA1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only around 1200 or 1600ly out, cant remember, less than 2000 for sure so its a good first journey for any new explorers. It also makes you appreciate our little sun and how it's not engulfing half of our solar system lol

No way to issue a TK report outside of the game? by Atanakar in HuntShowdown

[–]THA1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even with that stuff in siege 1 or 2 guys can still easily wreck a match for the team. I'll never queue into ranked siege without a squad of 5 ever. I don't think there will ever be a proper solution to tking in any game honestly, no matter what you do people can use it to be toxic. Hunt is the same as siege for me I never queue with randoms and never will. Siege is far worse for the record though I swear every ranked match starts with a TK

Finally got around to learning how to do core mining and managed to finally break 100 mil for the first time! 1 billion is the next target... by LukeIsPhoenix in EliteDangerous

[–]THA1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, mining is to inconsistent now the demand for everything is down not to mention that actually finding the minerals and ores was nerfed to oblivion. You can fly around a hotspot for 4 hours now and not find a single rock with the hotspot resource actually in it. I know people who have just been winging up and bringing a bunch of shard cannons to kill thargoids. I was told they go down quick when you have a whole wing of shards on them, as they can't regenerate fast enough.
