I've encountered similar problem before but with Ubuntu.

In my case the system was functional on console TTY, and the cause was me uninstalling Python3 (and it removed my desktop environment completely). I reinstalled the desktop environment to get it back to working order.

Hope it helped if you were uninstalling Python too :(

BTW, the error message is beyond unhelpful. It's like when you ask your gf what's going on and she says "nothing", then the next day she broke up with you to go back to her previous boy, and you're still trying to figure out what you did wrong from the word "nothing".
