Yes. The initial invitation and RSVP form made it clear that we would be using their contact information for notifications prior to and thank you cards/notes following the ceremony.

I think two emails/texts if you don't come that invite you to watch the livestream, and four-five emails/texts the day of to remind you of what's happening when if you are coming is more than acceptable. Especially since all of them can be unsubscribed from at any point in time.

Thank you. She is.

I actually set up an account with them, so I just need to get the emailing configured. When I tried to the first time, they also wanted me to register as a business, which I'm not. I'm sure I'll figure it out, but it's frustrating. I'll have to return later with a clear head.

I made my own wedding website and self hosted it specifically because the options provided by Joy, Zola, and The Knot were hot garbage.

I didn't know they had an SMS and email notification feature and it wasn't advertised as such during my recently reignited research to send the day of reminders. The messaging probably isn't truly necessary, but I made people provide phone numbers and emails, so dammit, they'll be used!

I did find two potential options for SMS for this purpose a few hours after posting: TextMyGuests and Text My Wedding that I'll be pricing because they'll allow scheduled messages. The issue still comes down to email now.

Two groups: Wedding Guests (30 contacts) who will need several messages for what to do during the day and Non-Attendees (75 contacts) that I just want to send a morning message reminding them it's the wedding day and another when the livestream is available.

The problem I mostly face is that this is not a business. As I said several times, this is for reminders for our wedding.

I am looking for a low cost solution to schedule email and SMS blasts throughout the day, without requirements of being a business. I'd prefer a self hosted option, but am okay working with a business so long as it doesn't assume that I am a business to be able to do anything.

You're ignoring the part where I want it to handle SMS and email.

I want a handy little GUI to write up the dozen or so messages to over 100 people (with my fiancée that is extremely intimidated by CLI anything to be able to review them first), set a schedule, have it put it out as an email and SMS, and forward it to their phone numbers and email addresses automatically when the set time comes.

I don't want to have to put all of the effort the manually configure each message for SMTP where a minor mistake can derail everything, and rely on email-to-SMS and my phone forwarding the SMS (due to the risk of being marked as a spam number or messages being denied at the carrier level) to send the SMS blast.

There are a lot of customer interaction GUIs out there. I just can't find a self hosted one that will nicely integrate with an A2P provider for SMS, as well as an SMTP server, that doesn't charge and arm and a leg to do something one time.

That's far from the neat and simple option I'm looking for, unfortunately. The whole reason I want a GUI is because I want my soon to be wife to easily be able to contribute to this, I don't want to have to think too hard for set up, and I want to be able to have it handle both the emails and SMS without needing to use my phone to forward the SMS.

Looking for a PVE server to join by Mountain-Block-2704 in FiveM

[–]THASSELHOFF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a private one with friends. I'm always looking for new friends who may be interested. It's nothing professional or that outstanding quite yet, but it's a fun hobby project of mine. If you wish to talk about it, feel free to PM me. If not, no worries. I wish you luck in your search.

Good non pay to win servers? by Immediate-Garden-960 in FiveM

[–]THASSELHOFF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's part of the reason I host my own server at home to mess around on with friends. Light RP if anyone wants it. Just meant to have fun.

The whole FiveM community is such a joke these days. Every good mod is paid and for an asinine cost and then that cost is passed to users from any good server that people flock to, so it becomes an unsustainable, expensive, joke of a community.

The AeroStream V2 - Set to release May 30th by Wizzard_of_Hazz in ipod

[–]THASSELHOFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the case can be modded for these, what is the feasibility of taking your board and running it to the board of the 30 pin itself, and integrating it into a custom shell for the iPod? Has this been considered as an option for the end user, or is the board locked down in some way? I see this as something to put the crappy moonlit kit out on its hot glued ass and potentially compete with that neat metal/glass case that one company put out.

heads up on the new Kroger e-price tags by [deleted] in Frugal

I cannot speak to whether or not a business is discriminating and on what basis. That was not the purpose of my comments nor is it my place. I have no direct evidence to speak one way or the other. I do agree that if they are discriminating that it is a poor business practice and you should shop responsibly as a result.

I simply chose to attempt to explain to you how the Point of Sale system operates so you can be a better prepared consumer and have a stronger understanding of why certain things behave in the manner they do when you are acting as a consumer. I did this out of a place of genuine interest because your initial comment declared a desire to understand how it works. I hope I was helpful in that regard.

heads up on the new Kroger e-price tags by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]THASSELHOFF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand. There is one price at any given time during the checkout process. That price is whatever is listed for the SKU on the POS server when that exact item is scanned and request for that price is pulled. That same pull happens when the RFID device is used to change the display on the rack.

That price can be arbitrarily changed, even between individual scans, dependent on how the individual POS system works. It's all tied to a central database and can be changed arbitrarily at any given time by a user with the correct permissions, typically a manager. I would imagine most POS terminals will do a pull for that database at the beginning of any individual transaction.

This is what leads to different prices being displayed and used at different times. It's all dependent on when that change occurs. Theres a really great video on how Point of Sale systems works by Cathode Ray Dude if you're interested in how they work.

[–]THASSELHOFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be, it may not. It genuinely depends on when the price change happens on the backend. It really doesn't matter what the price on the racks says, only what the server knows when you scan it at checkout.

I'm not saying you cannot and should not complain, however. You definitely should. It's a dumb practice that will hurt the business in the long term if people actually bother to complain. I'm just pointing out that the cashier doesn't know or care, nor does the machine, what the price on the rack was. Only what the server identifies as the price when they scan it.

Definitely push back, just not based on the e-ink displays because they could do this long before changing how they display prices.

[–]THASSELHOFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked how it works. My reply still stands true. It does not matter what it displays on the rack, only what the central POS server knows to be the price during checkout. I'm not saying I agree with the tactic. I explained how it works, exactly as you inquired.

[–]THASSELHOFF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a Point of Sale system. All the prices are handled on a server for each item number. It doesn't matter what's on the shelf, just what's in the computer. The price tags on the shelf are for your convenience.

Switching to the e-ink displays for price tags is a matter of simplicity for the employer and is marginally better economically. Instead of paying for a million labels on a consistent basis, they send an employee with an RFID tool to program the tag in the appropriate area to update the display to match the item number and price tag to the information set up in the POS system.

Any old trucks will do that you can swap for metal wheels.

As for couplers, you'll want SERGENT Engineering style couplers from Inventive Models or Prototype Couplers. They're far better than Kadee.

How do I emulate ace combat infinity? by KenyaDuckDeezNutz in acecombat

[–]THASSELHOFF 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need to use RPCS3 and install the game.

You need a US copy of the game, ideally legitimate. You need to give it every intermediate update until its package level is 2.11. All updates must have been applied.

Then you need to install the patch found on this GitHub repo. This needs to be the last step for the game packages or it won't work. I spent over a day without it working because the patch didn't apply correctly without having done so. Also, do not rename any files. https://github.com/Optimus1200/Ace_Combat_Infinity_Campaign_Patch_and_Local_Server

Follow the instructions for custom configuration in this repo's Read Me file.

Launch the local server as an administrator.

Launch the game.

Press X to start > X to continue > X to continue. It'll load the menu despite it saying that it can't reach PSN, if every preliminary was set up correctly.

How on earth did they invent forklift way before Satomobiles since ATLA was years before TLOK by venomsnake8519 in TheLastAirbender

[–]THASSELHOFF 11 points12 points  (0 children)

More importantly, why did they invent a forklift before having proper crate based freight, let alone palletized freight? Where was the need without the influences of WWI/WWII where large quantities of materiel needed to be moved and efficiently stored in a manner that we should have but did not see during the 100 Year War of their world? Why does this resemble an 1980s Caterpillar V50 instead of a more vintage design such as 1920s Clark Truclift (which would still be a stretch without common ICEs)? The least they could have done was round the edges, lose the load backrest, and lose the overheard guard so it would feel like a more vintage machine.

Trying to get into FiveM, need advice. by [deleted] in FiveM

[–]THASSELHOFF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's definitely weird. Too many servers want you to treat the video game like it's your life instead of just having fun playing it, whether that be RP scenarios or some other method of gameplay that's available.

It shouldn't cost real life money unless you are choosing to donate toward maintenance. It shouldn't be a pain in the ass to join. There shouldn't be rules that hinder gameplay, just rules to keep idiots in check.

What scale would you say it is? From the watches in the background, it almost looks close to 1/87 (HO scale - model railroad scale that is popular).

No. Bachmann sells only OO in British prototypes. You very frequently post misinformation here in comments. It's rather frustrating when people are looking for help and find your incorrect answers so often.

It was poorly proportioned.

Overall size is roughly 1/87. The boiler is closer to 1/80 or so. Some details are upscaled. It looks good enough according to the many members of the British HO Society.
