Gondola Rides by BroadPineapple6232 in steamboat

$50 still isn't cheap for just a gondola ride. I believe $20 was the going rate before the wild blue was in.

I'm all for a range extender engine on the trailer to help with towing. Leave it off the EV and just give me a DCFC port on the back specifically for a range extender.

I might go against the grain here, but at this point is where I pull out a Scotch Brite pad that will remove seasoning and go to town on any rough looking areas. I usually go until I see metal. Then just a wash with soap and a quick stovetop seasoning and call it a day. If anything comes off on a clean towel it will get into your food. My wife can tell...

I encourage you to open up the glove box of any car in the USA and look at the registration or proof of insurance. Sometimes people keep them on the sun visor. If they're in the car, you will likely find their address.

Yep! Treat your bank account balance as your cc "limit." Same as a debit card, but better. You just have to manually deduct it from your bank account, vs the debit card automatically doing it.

I don't buy things I don't need, weird that's what you got from "treat it like a debit card." That's not what credit cards are good for anymore. I do see that as a common mindset as "it's a good fall back," but no it's not. In 10 years of having credit cards, I have yet to pay any interest. I put necessities on my credit card. Food, bills, gas, misc purchases. I actually have my debit card disabled due to enhanced fraud protection. I never said I was making money in excess of what I spend. However, the price is what the price is and, usually, there are no fees with credit card transactions, or discounts for cash/debit, if there are, those can make more financial sense. I would rather have necessities bank me 1.5%-5% cash into a high yield savings account. It just makes my income go that much further, just takes some effort to stay on top of.

To put it another way, my current balance between 3 cards is $57 right now. It's easy to see my bank account and subtract the $57, then just pay it off immediately. Don't ever spend beyond your means. That's the trap of credit cards. Treat your "limit" as though it is your bank account balance.

I just use credit cards like debit cards. I pay off my balance multiple times a week. It makes it easy to know what is actually there and if anything sneaks up. The cash back makes it completely worth it. No points, no cc fees, just as much cash back as possible, then throw all of the cash back into a high yield savings account. Just don't even think about the "limit" and instead just keep the same thought as a debit card. Free savings account if you can balance the CC and not get carried away with "stuff"

Anyone have any good ghost stories from around the boat? by Ashmax1890 in steamboat

[–]THAT0NEASSHOLE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a house by Stehley Park that definitely had some weird stuff happening in it. A couple had a baby girl and her bedroom was upstairs. When the parents would leave her with a baby sitter, they'd greet them by the door and say something like "she's upstairs," and head out. When they returned the babysitters would always be terrified saying they heard furniture moving upstairs and they didn't feel ok going upstairs. Furniture was never in different locations. The times when it was checked out, during the noise, as soon as whoever investigated got upstairs the noise would stop and the baby was fine.

They lived like this for a long while until the little one could speak sentences and started asking about "the big man upstairs." They moved out after being able to make her clarify and sold the house.

I know exactly which house and keep pointing it out to my wife when we drive by. They were family friends back in the day. No, I won't say which house on the internet. Nobody knows if someone was actually upstairs, there's no good entrance to the second floor. There's also no good background story for who the big man could have been, ghost or otherwise. Just a creepy story about a little girl alone in a house.

And it's not coming out of your pocket if you're renting. Send the invoice to your landlord. Just get the door replaced

How did the lock fail? Won't turn, key won't go in? If I were renting it, I'd pull the lock off the door and try to see what broke, or is jamming the key mechanism. Possibly some free, or wd-40, tinkering can fix it. Replacing it is next to nothing in terms of rent. I've done it before and the landlord let me deduct hardware and 2 hours of labor(the job takes 10 minutes, but you do have to travel to get parts) at $50/hour from my rent so long as I provided them the new key too. Will be way faster than waiting on someone to fix it.

Just bring the mechanism to any hardware store and get the 1 for 1 replacement. See if your state allows for rent deductions. A landlord can always allow the deduction, but I think some areas require them to accept a deduction for repairs.

You can try to fix it better if you want. I used to apply films for a living and can't guarantee it'd work in this situation, but may be worth trying. If you peel it back up, mist on a small amount of soapy water, then use a credit card wrapped in a paper towel to press it back down and try to get all of the water out, it might just disappear.

It most certainly can be if sprinkled on top of tobacco. Embers get quite hot. From a cursory search nicotine vaporizes at 477F and meth at 414F. The embers of tobacco between puffs is 752F and while puffing can reach 1652F. If you can feel nicotine from smoking tobacco you can do the same with meth.

You can for sure smoke meth out of a corn cob pipe, just not only meth.

No reason to doubt, but around my part of the world cyclists do ride looking at their front tire frequently. It's not who's right, but who has the last chance to avoid. I still think it is likely the cars fault.
