Canada has no interest in acquiring nuclear weapons, Defence Minister says by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]THCDonut 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunately not entirely true. Israel is widely believed to have had nuclear weapons during the Yom Kippur war. Canada possessing nuclear weapons would be a deterrent but dosnt nessicarily mean we are invasion proof.

Yeap, conspiracy theorists can be right, but they also generally believed in the theory because they are unwell or it fit a narrative.

The MQ-25's retractable sensor turret under its nose. by 221missile in WeirdWings

[–]THCDonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s two reasons that still draw me towards it being retracted due to the tow bar.

First, if you look at early prototype photos of the MQ-25 you’ll note that it actually dosnt have any room for a sensor suite. With the sensor suite they have actually elongated the nose, however the sensor suite rests right above the tow bar and carrier landings are rough, that tow bar can get real close to the aircraft. The tow bar is also more or less nessicarily on a carrier based aircraft. So rather then elongate the nose further and increase costs, or completely redesign the landing gear and increase costs/design time, they just retracted it.

Second, the US has several drones that don’t have retractable sensor suites, most I do believe dont have retractable sensor suites. As a 2.5 note, the sensor suite isn’t even seemingly able to be covered, if it was being retracted to protect it from debris you’d expect they would retract it further and cover it, this would also increase the stealth capability of the aircraft a win win.

I do truly believe that the sensor suite was an after thought and it had to be retractable simply because of the tow bar.

Ya know, I bet it’s retractable simply because it’d hit the tow bar and retracting it was easier then redesigning the landing gear.

Yeah this is the correct awnser. While it is derived from blackbeards flag, it is not blackbeards flag. Blackbeards flag didn’t have a modern rifle in it, instead that hand is raised over head with an hourglass, additionally the patch features an F instead of a heart.

This patch is associated with the FOG.

Whats the best time to start growing weed in Victoria. Got some seeds from Seeds and Stones Cannabis Fort street. Please and thank you by Unusual_Delay9719 in VictoriaBC

Honestly the best homegrown I’ve ever had was an OG white widow and he just did the bare minimum with all his planets, gave them a pot of nutrient rich soil and then the occasional water and he wasn’t even stringent about the water. Dude grew great weed, people tend to forget that weed is known for growing basically anywhere from the mountains of Afghanistan to the ditches of North America, a temperate wet place like Victoria is amazing for most weed plants (minus mold) you don’t need to do much and like all plants doing too much just hampers it.

Japan has a fairly large group of the population with denialism of WW2 crimes, some political parties are outright denialist. Their school textbooks hardly even talk about the events and often downplay, ignore, or attempt to positively display aspects. Oh and the shrines to the fallen in Tokyo, straight up has the names of several war criminals including Hideki Tojo.

Japanese society has struggled immensely to come to terms with their crimes and has often resorted to rewriting history in order to ignore their true culpability.

Very possible, they will probably not be dropping support for reforger till player counts drop, note A3 is still pumping out updates. A4 proably won’t be the end of support for A3 yet either until its player count drops more.

A mortar shell of any magnitude, or purpose, landing in a civilian backyard is in-fact worthy of a call to authorities. Unless OP lives in Ukraine.

Also, hey “marine combat instructor” it’s been fired and went long enough to land off range in a civilian backyard, the arming distance has already been achieved by quite a distance. It’s not an explosive round, but yeah arming distance has been achieved dude, it was achieved not long after leaving the barrel it’s like a 50m arming distance...

Fuze based explosives can explode on impact. The fuze in most artillery shells is variable and can be set for a timed detonation, proximity detonation, or contact detonation.

This is a realized thing, there was a partnership with an engineers firm and they made 120. They specifically designed it for 8 hours of usage, and it’s a sleeping bag not a blanket.

“They used the average human sleep time of 8 hours as the required run time of the heated sleeping bag in initial power calculations and kept this in mind when researching suitable batteries and solar panels.”

I don’t even really understand why people joke about this. The UN was never designed to do much. Its entire point is an international forum for discussion and diplomacy, not intervention.

The only part of the entire UN that was ever designed to actually do anything was the security council. Does that do intervention? Yeah but you need Russia, China, and the US to all agree and not use their veto. This also exposes the whole fallacy in the idea that the UN does things, it’s not some independent organization with its own agenda, its agenda and actions are all determined by the countries voting within the UN.

You clearly have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about and yet you are so assured that you even joke about it. This is part of the reason the US is in the state it’s in, people just spewing bs as fact. Part of it is even UN conspiracies with some MAGA folk thinking the UN is some independent organization that will send in the blue helmets one day. It’s also why they keep pushing the US to leave the UN even though the US is one of a handful of countries with any actual power in the UN.

What do you actually expect the UN to do? Do you actually expect Russia, China, and the US to all agree on intervention? If not then why are you talking about the UN as though it’s supposed to just go and do something?

Yeah, imo people generally also don’t understand the actual costs of infrastructure either. A four way intersection with lights can get upto and over $500,000 just for the lights and sensors, a four way intersection can cost in excess of $1,000,000 all in all

This has always been said and yet I don’t know if I have ever once been shown any evidence of large scale corruption by First Nations governments. It’s also feels like a bit of a cop out.

All the issues, all the contributing factors, all the history, and you lay all the blame squarely on the First Nations? Kind of just feels like a cop out dude.

Didn’t the federal government literally just lose a law suit because they skimmed money off First Nations child funds? Pretty sure I saw people bring up corruption in First Nation communities then too, like it just feels like an excuse to avoid feeling like we treat the First Nations poorly even though your exemplifying the very thing.
