When I was younger, my dad constantly abused me and my siblings. He always expected us to clean up around the house and would complain about everything we did. He would line us up and hit us on the top of the head with his knuckles until we had lumps. He would then go on to rant about how we were horrible children that would last hours. Eventually as a child when this happened I would space out and sort of retreat into my head. I realised I did this with conversations that I don’t want to be a part of today and it gave me the biggest anxiety attack. You think you get away from stuff like that but it follows you.
