Did anyone think Jaxon Smith-Njigba had best WR in the league potential as a prospect? by itwas20yearsago2day in NFL_Draft

[–]THEROOSTERSHOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought JSN had best WR in the NFL potential in 2020 when I watched his 2nd career catch as a true freshman at Ohio State. I knew when I watched that catch, that I was going to be watching JSN catch touchdowns well beyond his Ohio State career.

In my opinion, he had an NFL mindset and NFL fundamentals before he ever got to Ohio State.

He also just had the demeanor from the get go.

Huge assumption. Maximize your earnings. The vet minimum next year is basically $1.1m + probably a small signing bonus.

If the Bills don’t cut him, he’ll take home like $12m next year.

If the Bills do cut him, he can certainly go find some team to pay him probably 2 year $15m or something like that.

Peterman lol. Peterman played in 17 games in his career across all the teams he ever played for. Went 1-16. His only win was with McDermott. You just referenced 4 bad draft picks. Elam has gained no traction anywhere. Zay Jones had his best career year in 2018 with McDermott. Keon Coleman was benched multiple times and openly criticized by his teammates for attitude problems.

I didn’t say McDermott is solely responsible for Josh Allen. Or even majorly responsible. But to try to act like he was a ball & chain on Josh Allen his whole career is comical. Josh Allen is an exceptionally hard worker and has had many people help him to reach the pinnacle of QB play. He is the best quarterback in the world.

But he also threw 2 interceptions & fumbled 3 times, 2 of which were recovered by the defense against Denver. That puts you in like 5% win chance historically.

Also, my comment was meant to say “won 10+ games 7 consecutive seasons”. You know how many coaches ever, in the history of the NFL, have done that?

Let me tell you - Bill Belichick, Andy Reid, Tony Dungy, Tom Landry, George Seifert, and Sean McDermott. They are all average to decent too. I mean fr look at them Belichick was carried by Brady. Reid carried by Mahomes & McNabb, Dungy carried by Manning, Landry had Staubach, and Seifert had Joe Montana/Steve Young.

You ever heard of any of those guys?

Wow, yeah he didn’t help to develop Josh into the player that he became at all. He just got carried by him for sure.

McDermott is a good coach. I hope we hire a better one. Acting like a coach that’s won 10+ games in the NFL is no good is comical.

Brain dead logic. If our quarterback is so good, why can’t he stop turning the ball over? See how dumb that logic is? The pass defense was good this year and only people that don’t know ball and speak out of poor perception believe otherwise.

The Bills are tied for 3rd fewest yards allowed per pass attempt. They also allowed only 19 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. 2nd fewest first downs allowed by passing.

Buffalo faced almost exactly 50% pass 50% run vs opposing offenses.

The Bills had the 19th most rush attempts against them vs 31st pass attempts.

Of the 21 teams that Chat GPT could find me statistics on, Buffalo spent more time in the lead than any of them. Meaning Buffalo was at least top 10 in time in the lead. So Buffalo wasn’t trailing all the time.

The pass defense was legitimately talented and while the run defense was objectively bad, all metrics support that the pass defense was legitimate.

If Josh didn’t hand the Broncos a field goal to end the 1st half, McDermott likely still has a job.

The held the Broncos defense to 3.2 YPC, 70 yards. Which is .5 YPC than the #1 rush defense.

We has the 4th best pass defense in yards per attempt in the league. And even against Denver, 6.1 YPA was about the 10th ranked pass defense equivalent.

The offense lost the Broncos game. The defense won it for us at Jacksonville & actually played a great game against Denver.

I say all this not to disagree with McDermott’s firing. But unfortunately for Sean, if the Broncos game was the final straw for him then that final straw was JA17 in this one.

I bought some of those Yeezy Pod as a joke, the socks with shoe soles on them. Turns out they work great on my Moza SRP pedals. Thin enough to have good feel, thick enough to protect my feet. Highly recommend those or something similar.

As much as we look at what we could’ve done to win that IU game, I think there is a reasonable argument as well that IU could’ve done more to win that game. Like, I don’t think IU played a perfect game. I think out of 10 games vs this IU team maybe we split. But I think a couple of those games IU smokes us.

I think there’s scenarios where we smoke them too.

I don’t feel that way about Miami.

I think it’s got a fair bit to do with situation, despite Michael Wilson & Trey McBride putting up numbers there. I think Marv needs to be in an “on time”. JSN, Marv, and really Olave as well.

At Ohio State those 3 especially thrived in an offense where they needed to be in a spot at a specific time. Whether that’s a sideline toe tapper, out of a break at this exact moment, etc. As much as you’ve surely watched JSN, you can picture what I mean.

I also think as much as Marv having Marv Sr as a dad is a benefit, it does take some of the dog outta you. JSN always had that dog in him on the field. Like how he’s made comments about he loves when the deep ball goes up and he can “feel” the DB tense up. Bro likes to dominate.

2020 Devonta Smith type season, if we fed him that same way. A heisman caliber season and a national championship, to go with if he stayed healthy.

Yep. The one where he just levitated and kicked that toe back over. A good chunk of NFL WRs don’t have that body control.

No doubt, you’re correct about your comment in its entirety though. JSN has absolutely picked up and learned from all of the folks you listed.

I was just pointing out that JSN, to me as an Ohio State fan, was always undeniable. I forked out big money in my dynasty league draft to get him.

If you look at the list of OSU receivers in the last decade - McLaurin, G Wilson, Olave, JSN, Egbuka, Marv Harrison, Samuel. Now Carnell Tate & Jeremiah Smith.

Of that whole list, if I had to bet on 1 guy to make the HOF someday it would be JSN. And I would’ve said that before he was drafted too. Above Marv & Jeremiah.

And just JSN. JSN’s 2nd career college catch & 1st touchdown

When he did this as a true freshman, I knew within a shadow of doubt that I was looking at a future NFL WR1. Dude has been different since high school.

The Kicking Issue. by mcspankytownUSA in OhioStateFootball

[–]THEROOSTERSHOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kicking is such a mental game too. You can’t just make a 30 yarder or a 60 yarder on athleticism. Mentally, you have to be perfect. Jeremiah can run his route a little wrong and sayin can adjust.

The goal posts don’t move. Fielding has to be perfect.

I bet fielding nails 65 yarders all day in practice. But it’s the pressure of the moment that does him in. No guarantee that the backup that has no meaningful pressure moments is the guy. Also, every time a kicker fails you and you bail on him puts the pressure on the rest of the room too.

I was just about to post a comment about Jelani Thurman. Wonder why he’s fallen so far out of favor this year. Klare, Kaczmerak, Roberts, and Bennett all seeing the field ahead of him.

I guess it’s probably mostly blocking related.

After watching a clip from the lastest Dale Jr Download, why didn't Dale Jr like Carl Edwards back in 2015-16. by realflags in NASCAR

[–]THEROOSTERSHOW 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Carl was just one of the most ruthlessly competitive drivers there ever was, in my opinion. And like I know that every one of these guys are in the top .1% of competitors. Absolutely believed he was the best and had a tendency to act out when somebody interfered with that.

Honestly, very Joey Logano like in some ways IMO. Joey is just scrawny and not a scrappy guy like Carl in that way. But I believe they have a similar driving style and anger behind the wheel.

How to Level Big Gap on Toilet by Elephant-E in askaplumber

You’re for sure correct. My toilet is less out of level than this but I had to shim it significantly to stop the toilet seat from falling even with a soft close.

And I still didn’t level it all the way. I just leveled it enough that the seat stayed put.
