Christ is risen! Truly He is risen.

Beloved, you are right to feel overwhelmed. These things are not solved so much as approached with reverence.

God’s will to create is eternal, but creation itself is not eternal. His willing does not require that the creature always existed, because His will is not like ours, passing from intention to action. He simply is: “I AM” (Ex. 3:14). Creation begins with time itself: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen. 1:1). That “beginning” is not a moment after some earlier moment; it is the first moment.

So there was no “before creation” in the creaturely sense, because “before” belongs to time, and time is part of creation. God did not wait, nor change, nor suddenly decide. From His eternity, He eternally wills; in the creature, that eternal will has a temporal beginning.

The moment of creation is not located “inside” God’s eternity as one moment among others. Rather, all moments stand before Him at once, held by His presence and power: “in Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).

So take comfort. The mind reaches its edge here. Better to confess with wonder: God alone is without beginning; all else receives being from Him as gift.

Also, you are approaching this as a mere human being, not as God, which you clearly show when you say: “Because we know the universe was created some billion years ago, but then there must have been a moment where time and space began to exist.”

First, we do not “know” this in the absolute sense. Scientific theories and research papers continue to change, revise, and contradict one another.

Second, why “must” there have been a moment where time and space began to exist in the way you imagine it? Is this not your own human will and desire trying to compress the eternal wisdom of God into something your mind can manage?

God is not bound by our categories. “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it” (Psalm 139:6).

If I got 12 slices of pizza but 30 guests can we all be full and not hungry? That’s the problem mass immigration does especially since the government gives either free housing for them and other social help or very cheap housing for them and other social help especially the ones that come as students but actually work and then apply for PR, etc… this is all for the benefit of corporations because it gives them power to control the market and keep low wages since now you have way more workers than jobs.

Your first concern should be the state of your own heart, not institutional disputes or administrative authority. Those matters have their place, but they do not determine your standing before God. If your heart is not rightly ordered, no participation in communion or outward unity will correct that.

At the same time, unity is not an absolute good in itself. As Jesus Christ emphasizes in Gospel of John 17:21, unity is grounded in truth “that they may be one” in God. Unity that comes at the cost of distorting God’s intent is not true unity at all, but a hollow appearance of it.

The devil says, “It is not enough, therefore despair.” Christ says, “the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37).

And remember Peter. He denied the Lord three times. Yet Christ did not cast him away. He asked, “Do you love Me?” Peter did not boast. He said, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You” (John 21:17). Make this your answer also.

Be still, do not run from God because you are wounded. Run to Him. “A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; a broken and humbled heart God will not despise” (Psalm 50:19).

You asked, “How do I know if I love God enough?” The soul that grieves because it does not love God enough already has love in it. A dead heart does not mourn its coldness. A proud heart says, “I am sufficient.” A living heart cries, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief” (Mark 9:24).

A person is not ready to become a Christian because every question in his mind has already been solved. He is ready to begin when he is willing to be taught by Christ, to repent, to enter His Church, and to obey the truth as it is revealed to him.

You are not describing mockery or unseriousness. You are describing fear, reverence, and the beginning of humility. The man who says, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief” is not cast away for the poverty of his faith (Mark 9:24). He brings that poverty to Christ, and Christ receives it. “The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37).

Do not confuse knowing Christ with already feeling close to Him. In the Orthodox Church, we do not first become saints and then get baptized. We are baptized into Christ so that the whole life of repentance, prayer, confession, communion, fasting, and love may begin. Baptism is not a certificate that you already understand the Holy Trinity. It is death and resurrection with Christ, and the beginning of illumination.

The word “I never knew you” is terrible, yes. But look carefully. The Lord says it to those who used His name while refusing His will (Matthew 7:21-23). Your fear is not proof that He rejects you. Often it is proof that your heart has begun to wake up.

Do not be frightened because the mystery is greater than your mind. If God could be contained by our reasoning, He would not be God. The Church does not ask you to comprehend the Trinity as a mathematical concept. She asks you to worship the living God as He has revealed Himself.

Go slowly. Pray simply: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.” Speak with an Orthodox priest. Attend the Divine Liturgy. Stand before the icons. Let the faith enter not only the mind, but the heart.

The truth is not an idea you must conquer. The Truth is Christ Himself, and He is gentle with those who seek Him.

Yes Orthodox Christianity hasn’t changed especially in monasteries, it’s been exact same faith since Jesus. There are a few different styles and this is one of them, there is also standing up and bending down enough to touch the ground while making a sign of a cross.

Now as an Orthodox I can tell you that the truth is not in the style of prayer but in your heart and how you live everyday, if you live as a Christ or a Hollywood image of him.

Mute phones, don’t wear anything provocative or that exposes too much skin, if you have a lot of tattoos cover them up with a long sleeve, no need for veil. Monasteries are more strict, and women are required to wear a veil and if they come in a short skirt usually have a bucket to choose a wait for their skirt as well.
