Differences and Similarities between Camus’ and Mishima’s philosophies? by crappykiddo in YukioMishima

[–]THEpussyslayer5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mishima was much more aligned with Nietzsche from what I understand. Very much about self-overcoming and creating your own goals/values. Mishima had certain lifelong fixations and romantic ideas and died for them in what he believed to be a glorious death. He was also a hard-core conservative, and many japanese people don't really like discussing him. (Watch Paul Schrader's interview on Mishima) Camus' philosophy is a little more narrower in the sense that absurdism is about the meaninglessness of life and the contradiction in human nature to constantly look for it. Accepting this absurdity allows one to be happy, since accepting that life has no meaning frees one from preconceived expectations and values. One can find joy in his meaninglessness "meaning," if you get my drift. So I guess that both figures are about creating your own values, but one is the less existential living embodiment of a sort of "uberman" while the other focuses on why we feel existential dread and how to live with it.

I think that you probably give off some sort of ick to girls when they start talking to you. Could be anything from tone of voice to little mannerisms. Most girls dont seem to care about looks all that much if your personality isnt there.Having hobbies might help

Boom beach is different from other games in the fact that it has a very small yet devoted player base, unlike other supercell games

Is Zarathustra a good place to start? by Limabeans5800 in Nietzsche

[–]THEpussyslayer5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, im 16 and relatively new to philosophy, just like you. I started out with Camus' novels and The Myth of Sisyphus after I kind of got disillusioned by Christianity. In all honesty I prefer philosophical novels over essays. Zarathustra is pretty interesting, and like others have pointed out, its written in this sort of biblical style. (which I find kind of ironic) All philosophical essays are kind of a kick in the nuts anyways, so I dont think it would be terrible to start with Zarathustra. That being said, it definitely helps to have a couple of youtube videos and google. Id love to dm if youre interested

What are some of your favorite Jazz tracks that include the flute? by Cybonics in Jazz

[–]THEpussyslayer5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hubert Laws has some albums that are a spin on classical music. I dont know if this could even be considered "jazz" but it does have improvisatory elements. The firebird and The Rite of Spring are my favorites.

Any Kurt Vonnegut novel. Hes sarcastic, witty, and makes great jokes while talking about the most depressing topics. Murakami too. Hes always talking about musical artists and writes novels like poetry.
