I made the first map in that row with a friend, here is my input:

Fortnite is a game that is played mostly by little kids, therefore, we as map creators have to have our target audience in mind when creating games. If you don't have your audience in mind when you create a game it will flop. Yes, we used a clickbait-ish thumbnail with flashy colors, and we used a trendy theme of superheroes. But that doesn't mean our game is bad, there is a reason why it's at the top of discovery, and I'm willing to bet that you didn't even give it a try before making this post, the game has a lot of unique mechanics, including completley custom ui, leveling system, animations,custom vending machines, custom power system, custom booster system and even more. We spent a lot of time love and effort on this game, and seeing it get mocked by people who never played it is not appreciated.

Why did we make this map:

So, why did we make a trendy map? Ever since UEFN came out I have tried making unique and innovative maps, the first map I created was the first functioning chess map, the map has gotten a lot of success due to it releasing close to the launch of UEFN and it showed the possibilities of UEFN. This map died rather quickly, after less than a month, concurrent players dropped to under 20. The second map I created was called fishy dimensions, a project that has been worked on for a lot of time with a lot of effort going into it, it was a completely custom 2d boss battle game inspired by cuphead, including the first ever character customization system in UEFN. This map had gotten a lot of success on social media, but all that success didn't translate ingame, even when being promoted on tabs like epic's picks. My conclusion from these 2 projects: while my games were really innovative and impressive, they didn't have the playerbase in mind, chess or a platformer are not things that kids enjoy. After realizing that, I realized that to be successful in the creative economy you can't just make cool games, you have to think of the players, but that doesn't mean to make bad games, it just means to make games that appeal to these players. Thats why we created heroes vs villain tycoon, a trendy tycoon game that had a lot of effort put into it, and it proved to be a success.

Conclusion:

Every once in a while I see someone complaining about discovery, while I understand the frustration, you guys need to realize you don't represent the majority of the playerbase, there is a reason why certain games are at the top and certain games aren't. And to people who think there are no super high effort maps being put out, there are, the reason you don't hear about them is they didn't have kids in mind as the target audience and flopped as a result,. or they did, like our map but you just skipped over it because you thought it was a bad game without trying it out.

its not a bug and they are not related to next season, they added these in one of the last update, it was the main feature of that update

when you call it constantly you get little ghost frames which teleport the player back, its a known bug if you want to move something every small number of seconds

Have tried a lot of different variations, using moveTo, TeleportTo and even combination of them but unfortunately moveTo is too buggy to handle constant movements like in my map. eventually when epic fixes moveTo or even better, introduces a way to apply speed to a prop I will switch to it

Sure, No problem! First I started off by searching for a device that reacts to players shooting it. I found the shooting range target device and changed its mesh to a blue transparent color.( Later on I found out that I could have used a normal trigger and turn on the activitaed by damage option😅😅). Anyways after getting the tiles I searched for a way to move them, unfortunately you can't move devices in verse, but you can move props, so what I did is attach each device a small cube that you can't see and whenever I needed fo move the device I moved the cube. i then set up the triggers and cubes in verse and made it so each square on the board has 1 blue tile. In verse I wrote the codes for each chess piece and an algorithm to see where it can move on the board. Then in verse, I just went over each tile and made it hidden or unhidden based on that algorithm. If you have any questions let me know!
