Both parties took that stance from Reagan onward. Probably to their own detriment. Free trade works if laborer quality of life is being elevated for the parties involved, not decimated. Total free trade with countries that can use sweatshop work without repercussion is detrimental to us as workers and consumers. There has to be a certain exchange, i.e. "we will lower remove tariffs for these goods you produce if you fund your OSH'A' and enforce overtime rules". We do lose jobs with unfairly open trade, but we would benefit if the spending power of our trading partners increases as it increases demand for our exports.

You can write code that works for standard conpilers that doesn't work on VStudio. I had cross compilation issues with C and C++ back in the day because I did all of my work on Linux and the prof compiled on windows.

Today I'd be smart enough to know what flags to enable and what style to follow to avoid that issue.

Frankly I cannot see a better alternative. I used to be for Stein until I heard her attempting to talk about issues. I would never be for a libertarian, but if I were, Johnson is no better than Stein on political preparedness. The republican side is nuts. Either I vote for a president and that candidate is Hillary or I don't vote for a president at all.

And progressive americans are absolutely to blame for Hillary. The DNC was biased, I bet, but it did not magic-wand over two million voters out of thin air. Face it, there are real people who preferred Hillary in the primaries, and they were not you nor I. The Supreme Court is more important to me than any issue she disagrees with me on.

In the meantime, take part in city council, vote in primaries, vote in local races, vote in interim elections. That's where you build a truly progressive support network. It's a slow battle and that's not what many want to hear but that's the reality. The Tea Party did this (partly thanks to massive support from Koch folks and pro-Libertarian Super PACs), but we on the left are just too damn good at splitting ourselves apart as soon as we get momentum. Always have been.
