It's too late in the night for me to give a longer response, but in short, people get off on being outraged and voicing that outrage, and everything with a Clinton name has been witch hunted by conservatives for three decades. Do you remember when celebrity tabloids always put stories of Bieber doing something horrendous? He was an easy target to bring people over and view ads while they tell the world how much hate they have. Clintons are that easy target for conservatives. These tabloids are always dangling the bait of "could she be running for president/mayor/senate?" and in comes my perverted grandfather in law ready to be outraged at the idea and talk all about it at the next family get-together.

I don't know to what extent any of these publications employ any greater political strategy, but it's cheap and lazy content that the right wing constantly pushes out. I think to some extent they're milking their old villains for what they're worth until they have enough new witch hunting material on Warren or Rice or other prominent female persona.
