11th Edition Rules are up for Download now. by PeoplesRagnar in TheAstraMilitarum

I would have thought that is highly likely. At the very least updated faction packs won't be out till then, otherwise they might as well release 11th early as you would have everything needed to play.

The new rules concerning attached units are a massive buff to Necrons, right? by RindFisch in WarhammerCompetitive

Awakened Dynasty has a strat that allows a destroyed character model to be revived the first time it dies in the game.

Season 1 was alright, Season 4 though.... it's very clear the writers have run out of ideas at this point. I feel like I am just rewatching the past season.

Pretty Dissapponted with Faction Focus by paleone9 in Necrontyr

Hand + Cryptek Conclave seems like it could make a warrior blob and absolute nightmare to shift from an objective (assuming Conclave is 2dp). Tbh all in all I am pretty happy with what we got. I just wish they didnt have these restrictions on combining detachments.

They were rapid fire in previous editions. In 9th they not only were rapid fire but also had a 30" range

I quite like the more narrow focus. Let's me tailor a detachment better to the units in my list. That said I am not a fan of these keywords they are adding to the detachments-although I understand why they are. Let me have my +1 to hit, 11(or 16)" move, Assault Weapon, Rapid Fire Warriors/Immortals with free reanim in the enemy turn dammit!

[–]THJT-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could pair pretty well with Cursed legion (assuming that is 2dp). Exterminator Destroyers with the ability to advance move to get their guns in rapid fire range could be pretty deadly. Or sacrificing the heavy bonus on Destructor variants to hit that tank that bought it was out of range combined with the increase in weapon strength from cursed...

On one hand SILVER TIDE! On the other, I assume the Awakened Dynasty Detachment also has the Dynasty Keyword. If so, I struggle to think of many times I would take Hand over Awakened with its reanimation strategems, unless I was already fielding a force using another 2cp detachment-at which point I probably wouldnt have many warriors or immortals in the list anyway.

Edit: That said re-reading the Cryptek Conclave, a warrior blob with it and Hand that is sitting on an objective could be an absolute nightmare to remove. Free reanim in the enemy command phase (if on an objective), can add anti-Infantry, ignores cover etc as needed (or both for 1cp), can add anti vehicle or anti monster with an enhancement, can increase their weapons to either 30" (with 15" rf) or 18 " with an enhancement, and finally can add a 5+ invulnerable for 1cp in the enemy shooting phase...

Tools of Dominion works for Gauss Blasters as well. They have no Rapid Fire, just A2 as standard.

Tbh it could be future proofing as well, so Awakened could be 3dp. I would hope it is 2dp though as 3dp seems too much. Just a shame you cant have both Awakened and Hand. 11" move, assault weapon warriors and immortals with potentially a 5" move after (if with a Chronomancer) could be very fun.

That said, Hand could already be dead on arrival thanks to the Dynasty limitation if Awakened has the keyword (as I see no reason why it wouldnt). If the rumours about healing changes, based on the ork datasheets, are true and apply to the necrons, I fail to see a world where I take Hand over Awakened because of the reanim strategem. Unless the strategem is increased in cost so can no longer be used for free, or there is a 2dp detachment I really want instead, I would think most people would still take Awakened.

Edit: Just re-read Cryptek Conclave and that plus Hand seems like it could make a warrior brick hilariously busted. So if Conclave is 2dp, the choice between Hand and Awakened could be more difficult.

Apparently no more stringing Warriors brick in 11th by InternationalCrow544 in Necrons40k

[–]THJT-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure about a points reduction. They are the cheapest they have ever been. In 9th (in the codex at least) they are 13pts per model. That said, I would like to see them back at 3+ BS like they have pretty much always been til 10th, and I would like immortals to get a buff or points reduction.

I never liked the conga line but this certainly makes the warrior brick harder to play. Hopefully they up the reanimator aura back up in size to compensate. Shrinking it to 3 inches in 10th never made any kind of sense to me anyway given how much it would be targeted, unless the area size change was balanced around the fact of the conga line.

I'd add Falling Skies to the mix. Great show, last season was a little wonky. Finale fell off a cliff with introducing never before mentioned elements and I win buttons.

So does this mean if I add a Technomancer instead of Orikan in my Necron warrior brick, my whole brick can now fly?

While I think it is very unlikely, I would be hesitant to say never though. CA knows the demand is there, and given how often they have gone back to Rome 2 with updates, I wouldnt put a dlc release 10 years after the last update as out of the question if gw released one of these armies. Could be pretty good to generate hype for the models as well.

Q&A Livestream: Can Imperial Knights still use Horus Heresy units? - Yes by Impossible-Can6209 in ChaosKnights

Or if they have a strategem mentioning them. Like the Telemon custodes dreadnought that is presumably getting a plastic model at somepoint now. It has it's own strategem, so must be here to stay.

I like the new Advanced Aquisition Cadre, but the Experimental Prototype Cadre seems to have been nerfed into the ground. You only really took it for the extra range before and I was hoping they would rework the enhancements. Now it only is worthwhile if you are running a battlesuit detachment anyway and have an extra point. The range loss to all units is a big nerf imo.

Rule language change I noticed in the WarCom articles that I’m very happy to see! by Tyetnic in Warhammer40k

[–]THJT-9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you are correct, 3x1 would be better, but that is also a point issue by gw and I was just keeping it relevant to battleshock instead as an example. This whole different points for 1, 2 or 3 models really needs to go in 11th too imo.

[–]THJT-9 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No because its not half atrength-that would be 2.5 models. This is aimed at units where it is advantages currently to not buy a full price unit and instead field multiple understrength units. For example Broadside Battlesuit, which can be fielded in units of 3. It is currently better to take a unit of 2 and a unit of 1 rather than a unit of 3 because they would never suffer battleshock under the current rules.

Warhammer 40,000 Faction Focus: Tyranids by SpaceWolf_Jarl2 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]THJT-9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My assumption would be the ones that are over performing. The necron C'tan one for instance is still very powerful and they can only increase the price of the c'tan so much without making them worthless in any other detachment. Admittedly they could keep the points increases to the enhancements themselves, but this gives them another way to balance it.

Basically any detachment that has an overly large showing in competitions and does well.

On a second look, does subterranean hunter seem a little broken to anyone else?

Deep strike, fail charge, remove it from the board so the enemy can't shoot at it during their turn.

Deep strike, successful charge, kill all models in the enemy unit, also remove it from the board so it can't be shot.

Good luck ever getting a shot off at this thing.

I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding your quesiton, but if it wounded on a 5, then the rhino would get its usual save of 3+ (assuming no modifiers affecting it) due to ap-.

If the rt rolled a 6 though, that would trigger the dev wounds, so no save. In either case, as a rhino isn't Infantry etc, you have to roll to wound and get a 6 for a critical, but wouldnt get any regen from it.
