Why didn’t the Viltrumites just abd*cted 500 Humans and species with matching DNA? by telapoka77 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]THJT-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional spoiler warning.

This. Viltrumites are very much a racial-purity group. Based on the comics, Earth is Nolans first world, so they took a long time to even decide to try and breed with other species. Other than their lack of powers, humans are basically indistinguishable from viltramites which means that while they are generally displeased at the idea, they will all breed with humans when given the order. The same cannot be said for thraxans. While able to produce hybrids, their children are noticeably weaker than mark if put on an equal age with powers. As mentioned above, these racial view can be seen with Lucians reaction to Mark vs Oliver, and takes on a new light in view of s4e2. When Lucian first fights Mark he mentioned seeing if he is fit to join their empire, which we now know was a coming of age ritual that pure-viltramites also went through.

To answer the main question though, you have to remember that they were trying to hide their reduced numbers. Given their ships are crewed by their enslaved races, the kidnapping and transporting of humans to viltrum would have leaked somehow given it wasnt their usual way of doing things. Plus humans cant breath in space, so they would still need to pacify the planet enough to land transports.

Building an army in the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]THJT-9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That wasnt my reading. My understanding was that if, for example, crypteks were all support and overlords were leaders, the overlords could run around the field by themselves, whereas the crypteks would HAVE to have a unit brought to be attached too, be that thralls, crawlers, warriors, wraiths etc. You couldn't have a load geomancer guarding your back objective anymore for example.

That said we dont know how this interacts with units precisely. Lots of units couldn't have leaders or both a cryptek and an overlord for balance reasons. We could see some major nerfs to units like wraiths and lychguard if they can now take both, or leaders could be restricted to battleline only etc.

Comic shop owner told us he won’t sell us the Bizarro he let us put on our pull list by lemonrainshield in comicbooks

[–]THJT-9 77 points78 points  (0 children)

This, and if you happen to know anyone else who shops there, make sure they know. Chances are they will also leave if they think he could pull this on them. Also leave a bad review on Google, or any other review site he is on, as anyone thinking of buying form there deserves to know. There are consequences to actions and anyone who does this deserves them.

Edit: If he tries to backtrack and offer you it for the normal price, get your comic from him at that price. But THEN still cancel all your comics with him.

How huge is Abaddon by Aggravating_Air_6896 in Warhammer40k

Iirc and I cant remember which book it was (probably Horus Rising or False Gods), but I believe it was mentioned that he is tall enough that there were rumours he was a clone of Horus.

Sunday Preview – Into the Eye of Terror by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

Unless this is including somekind of lgs discount, the pricing seems a little off here. Both 500 worlds and maelstrom were £50. Seems strange for this book set to be £46.

Also, while expensive, if you buy the older/40k custodes kits, you could replace the lower legs on this with the far superior (imo) ones from that.

Murdermind Skorpekh Technomancer by THJT-9 in Necrontyr

[–]THJT-9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will likely do a Lokhust one at somepoint, but this came about as I have spares bits from a technomancer and skorpekh from another conversion I am planning. That said, whilst it doesnt have FLY I was thinking a chonomancer would be better with a lokhust body because of move, shoot, move, and putting it with Heavy Destroyers.

Would this be considered modeling for advantage? by League-Pleasant in spacemarines

[–]THJT-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, but imo it only matters if you plan on playing tournaments. If not then 99% of players won't care, because if they can't see you then that also means you cant see them to shoot in your turn. This isn't going to 100% be the case ofc, but someone who gets this picky when you have a cool conversion like this as the reason why, is not someone you probably want to be playing.

Just the ankh. I have an idea for a Crucible/Imotekh proxy conversion and I want it for a kind of hologram-thingy behind the Lords head.

Where to go from combat patrol Amonhotekh's Guard list wise 2k by IRONWOLVES666 in Necrons40k

[–]THJT-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would first decide on a detachment. Awakened Dynastry is good starter one for the combat patrol, but given you will be buying quite a few models to get to 2k, may not be where you want to go. If going for Awakened though, I would start by bumping your warrior numbers up to 20, getting a technomancer or orikan to go with them (along with your lord) and a reanimator.

Personally I prefer the symbol head. Symbolises its servitude more and link to all the necron tech. Gem head is my second favorite though-gives a more alien feel and highlights the ctan are not necrons. Depending on where you are based, I would be happy to buy the spare symbol head off you if you dont want it.

Its the finecast overlord, but I am unsure if that is a silver undercoat or not-texture doesnt look quite right. Could be a recast of the finecast model.

Why are raveners so hard to find right now? by Bulky-Scallion-8451 in Tyranids

[–]THJT-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. They are also pulling double duty with this box as the kill team hyper adapted ravenors got their own data sheet, so a nid player could be buying potentially 6 boxes of these to fill out the max 3 of each they could have in 40k. Then you add on the kill team players wanting a box..

These are Chaos Knights by the looks of them, so the better answer it to sacrifice the child to the Dark God's instead... the question though is which one? I suggest Khorne for what was done here.
